Also what a stupid reason for a cult. Refusing to take the bucket off there heads. What happens when they need to shave or clean there teeth ? Also in Filoni show Rebels, Sabine gives Bo Katan the Dark Saber so why can't Mando too ?
It’s so obvious this wasn’t the original plan for the show, grogu shouldn’t be back with mando yet. Bobf completely destroyed the entire point of season 2. Season 2 had problems but it was the end of mando and grogus story for now. There only together again because it makes Disney money
I would have expected a self-destruct would completely destroy IG to avoid capture. Instead here Dinn basically defiles a memorial of a friend which helped him vanquish his intense prejudices, but zombifies them, shoots him without hesitation, and is re-killed in a humiliating comedy scene. I feel a better way to exemplify his new leaf would be to have him find a new or old droid which he can develop a relationship with to atone after losing someone he rejected. I know its a Season 1 call back, but I would have imagined the Mercenary Droid, who shares similar prejudices, but against humans. Though this idea can't fly since he was basically disintegrated with Mando's ship.
One issue I’ve had with the show from the start is that everybody looks like they are acting instead of talking like real people like they did in Andor, and because of the Volume, everything looks so limited in scale. The cinematography will never match up to that of a movie, and the storytelling doesn’t match up to a random EU novel, either. It may be okay at a time when our standards are lowered by the Sequel Trilogy, but I feel like we’re at a stage where mediocrity isn’t okay anymore.
Also the Mandalorian is an example on how not to do world building. The vast castle is like a ghost town (over emphasizing beyond realism how fall she fell), the “main” planet just magically becomes this utopia that doesn’t feel like a real place, etc. Every world in Andor on the other hand feels real.
Season 3 is a mess because Kathleen Kennedy fired Gina Carano and destroyed Jon Favreau's plans for the series. Gina was going to star in a spin-off show (Rangers of the New Republic) and Grogu was going to train with Luke. Now we got Disney scrambling to throw together a third season while tossing out the pre-written playbook. 😢
Every single episode of this show: Mando lands on some planet, walks 10 miles away from his ship, meets a character from previous seasons or other Star Wars media, helps him with X, the character tells him where to go next episode. It's like a videogame...with side missions only.
I don't like the fact that I couldn't understand WTF was going on if I chose to avoid Boba Fett like the plague; I shouldn't have to consume some other property to follow the story in this one. I don't like the fact that the writing on this show seems aimless and trite, with tons of filler and clunky dialogue and beats. I don't like the fact that Andor and Arcane spoiled me with 3 Michelin Star feasts and now I can't help but see the flaws in other shows now.
Andor spoiled us, everything will feel cheap about this. Season 2 was a Money grab and season 3 will be the same. Seriously it feels like Hurcules and Zena Warrior princess at this point.
The Weequay pirate should have survived, Weequays are immune or heavily resistant to blaster bolts due to their leathery skin, thats why they become mercs and pirates in the first place. In Return of the Jedi no Weequay was killed by blaster bolts and they were only killed by lightsaber strikes. I wish the writers cared a bit for the details of such characters.
Anyone else feel like the Mando stuff in BoBF was meant to be the real first eps for this season and they just put it that because of production issues or something? Like maybe Mando season 3 was supposed to be airing at the same time and there would've been a crossover. I feel like that would've been more satisfying. The way it is now feels very janky
I don't think the writers wanted Grogu back again so soon tbh, it 100% feels like a decision from higher ups to keep the 'baby yoda' merchandise rolling out and keeping the cute factor in the show to reacher a wider audience
Perhaps I'm a bit bias, since The Mandalorian was what got me back into enjoying Star Wars, but I overall enjoyed this episode. I agreed with your points about IG-11, though I guess it could sort of show how Din has changed in terms of his attitude to droids? Like in season one he despised droids but now he's willing to search for an important part just to get the droid back? I feel like that point doesn't hold much weight still. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Children of the Watch again, and as for the pirates, I'm sure they're just going to be a problem solely for Nevarro, though we do see in the trailer, a bunch of Mandalorians dropping down onto Nevarro fighting the pirates. Moff Gideon is still gonna be the main villain and I'm all for it, might get a prison escape scene there, where we might get to see New Republic forces in action, you never know. In my opinion it was a solid 7/10 for a first episode. Can't help but feel you were a bit nitpicky about some of the scenes, but hey it's fine if you think that way, I still enjoy your reviews regardless.
The first scene with the Mandalorians "training" by shooting the lake was so stupid and contrived only to be on upped by the giant crocomonster, it all made no sense and had no storytelling...just spectacle
so my dad will watch anything and i mean anything, (b-rated christmas movies, tone deaf musicals, storyless tv series) but he wont watch anymore star wars
I like your other reviews, but I think you're being too critical here. While I can agree that maybe it was a little slow and some scenes were unnecessary, a lot of your points seem to be you trying to look for things to not like in this episode, AKA nitpicking. I can agree with some of your points, like Grogu needed to say apart for a bit, but with most of them, I was like "that doesn't make sense", or "I think that point is wrong".
@@master_samwise Here's my opinion. 0:12 While I can agree about the first point with Luke waiting a while to give Grogu the basics (that's kind of stupid of the writers), Mando and the others seemed to have been completely separated for those two years with Mando meeting the Armorer and Paz being the first time they've seen each other since season 1, thus they were unable to learn that he removed his helmet. 1:40 I guess you could be correct, but the monster thing could return. It's not like it's just going to leave the entire habitat once they retreat into the cave. It could come back, but again if they don't kill it to eat more Mandos. I can still agree that we could have had a better fight scene. 2:10 Yes, we've already been told that Mando was an outcast and that he needed to go to the mine waters....IN THE BOOK OF BOBA FEET. However, there is a large amount of people who either haven't watched the Book of Boba Fett or bailed out after the first few episodes, just like how there were a lot of people who didn't watch WandaVision and were confused about the whole "Wanda's kids" thing in Multiverse of boringness. It was probably good that they explained that so that people who either didn't finish that trainwreck of a show or didn't watch it at all could understand the story. On another point, the whole point of Mando going to Mandolor is to convince the Armorer lift his exile, so it would probably be a good thing to let her know that Mandalor isn't complete dusted so she'll more likely believe Mando when he dunks his head in Mandalorian holy water. 3:50 I think the pirate scene was pretty important because it does further that the place had changed. These were the same people who were littered all over the place in season 1, and they're outcasts as of season 3. As for the pirates, I highly doubt that they're the main villains. Those are my main gripes. I feel like a lot of your other critiques seem to be on the basis that you were expecting some grand adventure that set up major plot lines in the series. personally, I just though of it as a fun little misadventure to get us back into the world of Mando. Yea, it feels a bit like filler, but it's the first episode, and you can't say it's not enjoyable. The Mandos vs giant croc was an okey fight scene, and the asteroid dogfight was badass, and the rest was all enjoyable, and I don't think it was supposed to be anything more than a fun little filler episode. Just look at the previous seasons. Season one was forced to set up major plotlines because it was the pilot episode, but season 2's had very little effect on the main story, and the overlapping theme wasn't introduced until the third episode.
@@master_samwise You know, while I have your attention, we could use some reviews on Book of Boba Fett and Bad Batch. It would be pretty cool to see you rip that fake Bobba to bits, atom by atom, and the Bad Batch has so far wasted a lot of it's potential with over half the season being filler.
@@metaknight115 Sounds like we mostly had different expectation for this episode. I was definitely hoping it would drive the plot forward, since, well, that would be a nice change of pace. All fair points you made. Ugh... I've watched three episodes of BoBF and... it's so bad. I stopped watching Bad Batch S2 after 5 episodes, three of which were filler. I'll probably make a video or two about each of them in time... once I work up the energy to actually watch them.
Yes I realize I call him IG-88 all video and his name is actually IG-11. Don't worry, I'll continue to make that same mistake in all future videos.
Watching the Mandalorian show is like watching a video game I can't play. It's Mando going on a load of side quests wrapped in nostalgia bait.
Also what a stupid reason for a cult. Refusing to take the bucket off there heads. What happens when they need to shave or clean there teeth ?

I feel like the mando episode in boba is a better episode one than the actual episode one.
I honestly wonder if it was meant to be then got shifted over to Boba, so we got this instead
Something about the very movement of the actors in this show just feels off, it’s like they’re all puppets controlled in the same way grogu is
Come on everybody. This channel deserves some serious interaction. Let's put on the effort.

Good thing Andor is only two seasons, so Disney cannot ruin it like what they did to Mando.

So I wasn’t the only one who had to do a double take that I wasn’t watching LOTR scenes in space😅

Gosh I love Arcane. Can’t wait for season 2
I will be completly honest, im tired of baby Grogu.

Idk I’ve rather enjoyed all the mandolorian shit aside from bobf

I really hope Grogu can have some character development.
Andor really ruined all other SW properties
