  • This is a unboxing of an RCA ANT705Z Attic/Outdoor Compact Design HDTV Antenna with a range of 65 miles. Assembly of the antenna and how I installed it in a tree. This is the 3rd one I have installed and all with excellent results. Priced around $40.00; an excellent value.
    You can find this antenna here on Amazon, amzn.to/2BClQDg

      Thanks for watching. One thing I have found that is negative, dead fall, limbs that the tree has shed have falling on to the antenna and I've had to climb back up to realign it with the towers. If you put it in a tree, look up and see if any limbs look like they could fall on to the antenna.
      This is a how I did it and not a how to do it video, so I encourage everyone to research and find the best option for their needs.

    Have had the same identical antenna for over 2 years now. 75 miles from towers getting 52 channels about 25 ft off ground. Excellent outstanding performance. After experimenting with other antennas I highly recommend this one. Great video!👍🏼

    excellent presentation, very useful
    now and for years to come.
    RCA antenna same as yours'
    got it for 10 dollars at Lowe's
    as a special reduced price. They're trying to make space for the next season stuff. I got very lucky.

      @@LongsQuest i did more than that;
      i skipped reading the
      instructions booklet and followed
      your example, it was faster
      that way. Thanks!

      You can still get these antennas at Wal Mart, bought one this year 2020.

      You also want to put dielectic greese inside the conector and a rubber boot as well as plumbers goop to seal out any rain and moisture so that the center conductor will remain nice and clean resulting to a perfect picture quility, and don't forget to drip loop your cable line in order to draw moisture away from your connector going into your tv antenna.

      Two way splitter, two antenna lined go on the output of the splitter then the one line goes to the input of the splitter into the barrel connection of the wal plate.

    I got that same antenna at Walmart for $34. I was using a plastic antenna on to of a fence post and was getting 75 stations sometimes. This one is going up high on the side of the house.

      @@LongsQuest I put mine together yesterday. I wish they had made the screw in step A 1/4 inch longer. I used a drop of 242 thread lock on most of the wing nuts except those that need to be adjusted.

    I've had that same antenna for 3 years now. Installed it up in my attic and I get roughly 45 channels. I live in a suburban metro area with a lot of trees but this thing pulls in the signals with no problem. Got it at Home Depot for $39, at that price how can you go wrong ? I recommend this antenna.

      It is a good little antenna, I also installed one in mine and my parents attic with great results. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    I didn't see you put a boot on the connection to the antenna itself. Were you not concerned about water getting in at that point?

    • @LongsQuest
      @LongsQuest  3 года назад +1

      No, not really. If you look at the taps on overhead cable lines you will see just the bare connector. The antenna has been installed for around 2 years, and the only thing I have had to do is realign it with the broadcast towers. I'm not sure if the antenna moved by being bumped by dead fall or the tree is twisting as it grows. I've been thinking about building a tower for the TV antenna and a 4G/LTE antenna. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Question do you need too ground it ?.I got the same one although it doesn't state if you need too ground unless I missed it..?..

    • @LongsQuest
      @LongsQuest  4 года назад +2

      I used a coax grounding block with a surge suppressor and ran a ground wire to the ground rod for the cabin. Same as you would see with cable TV installations. This is what I did, not saying it is how to do it. You should follow your areas code for antenna installation. I never would run a coax into a building without using the grounding block. Just saying. Thanks for watching my video.

    What do use to power that AC?

    • @LongsQuest
      @LongsQuest  5 лет назад

      We run the generator when we need AC; generator has remote start so we can control it from inside the cabin.

    I have this same antenna, I pointed it the direction the satellites outside were pointing! You really need a signal meter, I get 63 stations! I got up to 81 stations at the highest, they would come in early in the morning or real late at night! then the ones too far away faded out, these channels were over a hundred miles away! PBS is the worst! PBS is a VHF channel, so they don’t have a strong signal, There is a signal finer app !!!

      I used www.antennasdirect.com/ and my GPS to aim the antenna. The cabin is out in just about the middle of nowhere. I tried to duplex two of them but did not get good results. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you have a great weekend.

    DO NOT USE THE VHF SHORTING STRAP! on this antenna it cuts VHF performance
