No, I never even thought Los Angeles could be a trash city due to idealistic view created by American movies and videogame for us here in Russia. Only recently I discovered so much problems with drugs, homelessness, dirt appeared in big US cities (or maybe they always existed but in smaller scale or info about them wasn't spread that wide).
That brought a lot of disappointment to my child memories of ideal America in mass culture.
So I'm glad to see there are still a lot of clean, beautiful and interesting places in Los Angeles even with current decay, because despite US being almost an age-old rival of ours, most of us never wished any misfortune to Americans, neither now, nor even in cold war era. Leave the conflict, negativity and anger for politicians, it's their job after all, not for common people

      @sashaswan-nq1ov -
Oh please. This video and most of the comments are WAY off base. You must have been in Los Angeles, Texas, not Los Angeles, California. First off, Moscow is a city that was originally founded in the 12th Century, and Los Angeles was founded in the 19th Century and is built out completely differently. Secondly, “Los Angeles California” in the context of a comparison to Moscow Russia needs to be viewed from the perspective of Los Angeles County California. This is because the municipal city and zoning structures and laws in the United States do not exist in Russia. Therefore, comparing LA County to the Moscow metropolitan area: LA - 39 million people, Moscow - 21 million. Los Angeles is substantially larger in total metropolitan population. There is no question whatsoever that Los Angeles is far, far wealthy (in modern terms) than Moscow. A large concentration of the world’s wealthiest people live in Los Angeles, and have done so for over 100 years. Downtown Los Angeles is nowhere near the nicest part of the city - quite the contrary, which is why “skid row” as the RUclipsr called it is nearby. The apples to apples comparison would be either Century City or Westwood vs. downtown Moscow, and both areas are nicer by far than anything contemporary in Moscow. Red Square is, of course, an exception and it’s beautiful historic architecture has no modern day equal. In conclusion, on average the citizens of Los Angeles live WAY better than the citizens of Moscow. Few if any people in LA would trade places with their counterparts in Moscow - believe that !!

Most stores just have rebranded into new names and sell the same things as before. The stores like H&M or Uniqlo have been closed but they still pay rent in hope to return quickly when sanctiones will be lifted. The only thing Russians are missing is high brand outlets /for modnicas/fashionistas who like glamorous clothes/ and young professional couples who miss Ikea for a quick young family furniture solving. But as I said, the locals are substituting fast and the chinese are also quick to supply with whatever fake brand clothes and shoes the women dream /they are even saying the fakes look sometimes even better than the originals, and also all high brands are being manufactured in China anyway, so it’s super easy to substitute within a short time with no problem/.😮

well, as a matter of fact the site you show in this video is NOT the "Center of Moscow", it is known as "Moscow City", a relatively new attraction designed exactly to LOOK like a typical American metropolitan downtown. What we call "Centre of Moscow" is Kremlin, the Red Square and the surrounding area within the Boulevard Ring. Even in the most relativist terms Moscow Center does not exceed the second circular Avenue: Garden Ring.

All cities of the Russian Federation, small and large, have their own identity and are undergoing major restructuring. In St. Petersburg, it is important to restore and preserve the historical value of the architecture of the center, and not to modernize modern houses. All high-rise buildings and modern architecture are on the borders of the central regions. Therefore, European and Sarin architecture is preserved. Moscow's approach to development is different.

In Russia there is also not only McDonald's. For example, many Russians prefer shawarma as a quick snack. There is also a chain of fast food cafes "Teremok" that sells pancakes with different fillings. There is also a fast food chain “Kroshka Kartoshka” where you can buy potatoes with different additives to suit your taste. Georgian cuisine is also very popular in Russia. Russians are very fond of khachapuri (a Georgian pastry with cheese) or khinkali (something like large dumplings with meat and broth inside). I also like shoti (Georgian bread). There is a Georgian bakery near my house and I buy shoti there and eat it with milk.

But now after some international chains left, a lot of such smaller and localized shops appeared. That is a good thing definitely. Actually a lot of people in Russia stopped eating MD & other synthetic fastfood as soon as Shaurma rolled in(in USA U probably calling it Kebab), there are variety of it in Moscow ,and if you'll find rly good one, you gonna keep choosing it over McDonald's stuff always.

I ve lived and worked at TV station in Moscow till 2001, and 2014-2022 now I m back in LA, California and absolutely enjoying the weather here. I missed the ocean, our beaches, even the smiling people. Thankfully we don’t homeless here in Calabasas area, it’s nice and clean. Every city has its positives and negatives. My daughter speaks Russian, she learned it in Russia, but she is happier here in her home country.

@@alexbayer2365 Sure! We happened to live in Sochi a few years, even bought a house there. We went through extortions by Armenians there. If Armenians didn’t live there as the Russians say, it would have been one of the best cities to live! I had to go through 3 courts with them, they could come up on a street, say something nasty when they heard us speaking English, and spit right in our faces. They always asked for money! They are nasty people, but Russians reside with them. I won all cases, but the memories are still bad. There are also extremely reckless drivers there, and they don’t care about pedestrians at all. The only thing we truly enjoyed there was skiing every winter especially during the lockdown. My whole family returned to the US though

that’s possible but it’s also ok to compare Moscow to Los Angeles because I lived in both.

Too different sizes. Moscow is, besides capital, is also a megapolis (in fact the greenest megapolis in the world) and is an industrial prowess. Washington would be incomparable in several aspects of Moscow.
Moscow should be compared with cities with tons industry and large population, as Moscow alone(without it's region) is larger that several countries in population.

In Moscow you don't need to eat any junk food. Real food is affordable. If you ask for ginger tea (for example) you get real tea with real slices of ginger and lemon. In usa or uk you get a little teabag with some processed stuff packed into it in a factory somewhere.
That goes for other food and beverages.
