I'm glad this tutorial is still here! I needed the information about changing the crossover/turnout render menu to adjust rail render issues. I won't forget that it's control, double left click!
This video is so useful! I haven't touched this game for years, and plan to play again once I get a new gaming computer. With all these techniques, I just sure wish I knew them much earlier. But regardless, much thanks!
Here we are in 2024 and any research into the problem of crossovers not rendering always refer to this video, which is a great video but this was 8 years ago! Why hasn't this problem been dealt with, it makes route building a misery.
this video as I'm a beginner to train sim in general I thought i would give it a go but all of it was hieroglyphics but I watched another video and that helped and it recommended I watched this one so thank you matt for the help.
Thanks for this tutorial, I've just started route building in train simulator 2017 and this has helped a lot, having trouble finding out what the 2 red rectangles over a junction mean that I get sometimes when making a junction
For grouping the Assets you right click several times - Once adds to Red group, twice to Green, three times for Blue. The major flaw with this system is once you run the scenario or choose another route etc or exit TS the assets are no longer grouped/saved.It was requested to be fixed but they never got around to it.
I have found sometimes the main point of the junction incorrectly renders even though you have a perfect looking junction. When you run the scenario and change the junction the rail wont move and you don't know if its going left or right. Its useful to check every junction has rendered correctly and can move left and right before moving on.
Thanks Matt Very helpful and keep up the good work. Your tutorials are the best in helping me understand route and scenario building. Can you advise when you expect to stream a route making tutorial as previously mentioned?
Hi Matt, great tutorial! I'm just having a problem with crossovers though. I cannot get the crossover to make a track next to the current track as you showed, it is just completely loose and flexible and really not running parallel. I am doing everything you've shown, but it is not working. I am using TSM2016, is there something different?
Hi Matt, one other thing... I am trying to create a yard that has a lot of track coming to a single point, on a curve. I cannot for the life of me get more than 2 tracks to connect. Please could you do a tutorial on yard layouts. I am specifically trying to do Johannesburg Park Station (Google Maps will show it)
having a problem with the fueling points - the track link part isn't coming up, so it won't add. it won't even let me get to the track link part before the next building comes up
+Matt Peddlesden You are forgetting about the Durango & Silverton route. It's a North American Narrow Gauge route. www.drhs315.org/blog/drhs-shop/ds-train-sim/
Once you've placed the track, 'Select Tool' and select the curve, plus a small amount of straight section either side. While the track is still selected, a pop-out on the right should appear, check the box that has something looking like a hill, then type what number you want, followed by .00. :)
matt does ts2015 work on windows 10 as I keep getting a message from Microsoft that my upgrade is ready to install but im unsure if ts2015 will work on there or not
With the crossover tool, I will have two bits of track together (same distance apart) I press the crossover tool click on the track and their is a yellow out line on the track, then when I click it again it highlights it in red. I cannot do points. Plz help. (Also the snap to track doesn’t work for me, anyone know why)
May be a bit off topic but I have built a map however half the scenery is invisible. I know it is not gone because in the editor If I put the mouse where it should be it's shows up highlighted but not without me highlighting it. I also know I have it installed because other peices of the exact scenery shows up but can you please try and help and see if you know why this would happen.
This has to do with your ingame graphics settings, specifically the "scenery density" setting. Increase your graphics settings, or create a custom setting.
Very late reply, but: no, you can’t unfortunately. You can only place new objects in a scenario, you’re not able to edit objects, tracks etc that were placed in the route editor.
I have a problem, ifI place for example a Signal, there appears not grey thing, which I can place on the track. So with the next left click I place a new Signal and the other one disappaers... How can I fix this?
@@gameoholic1994 you know that little box with the arrow where you get the track or other stuff from Click that and find DTG, click on that then click the middle check mark once, after that once it's finished loading go to where you can lay track and select TSA -invisible track

I know how to make a branch off an existing piece of rail, but if there is an existing piece of track, how do i join a line to it?

That rendering adjusting fixes so much trouble i'm having
So helpful! Thanks Mat! How do you do Narrow Gauge?
+Matt Peddlesden Wonder why you can't buy it anymore :'(
Hopefully it will or some NG route comes out soon as I have no idea about track making

Um, then how do we make our own track? we can't shrink it.
thanks didn't know that was possible :)
is there a list of all transfer points and is there one for center beam lumber cars?
no tip on the single slipswitsh?
Matt Please tell us how to do super elevation

@@Lewwytravels the super elevation wont be smooth, so you have to place the track with easment if you want it to be smooth

What happens if almost none of my assets are in the track bar

I have exactly the same problem, running TS 2016 under Windows 10. Makes me wonder if it is a Beta version!
Seems to work fine on my old computer under Windows 7. Can anyone out there help us?
i'm totally at a loss at which signals to use on my route, i'm using the south wales coastal assets (chose this when I first created my route)
Is it possible to place invisible tracks in Railworks?
Yes
Pat Cat How?
It's complicated, you might want to find someone who can explain it easily
Pat Cat As long as what I’m looking for is in the form of a video, it can’t be that hard, whether it’d be from you, or anyone else.
