Ice Age and Despicable Me are quite similar in that they're stupid, but actually quite fun. They're not clever or deep like Pixar films, but sufficiently bonkers to keep you entertained (come on, the Scrat scenes are funny, especially when he gets a coconut at the end!). However, both Ice Age and Despicable Me had sequels (or spin-offs) that went off-the-rails stupid and irritating. Urghh.

@@juliahornback2843 yeah but watch stuff like Monsters Inc., Shrek, and Finding Nemo all came out at similar times with way better animation. Though this Blue Sky’s first movie so its more comparable to Toy Story and Antz.

Ravenwing are we totally sure Scratt is a prehistoric squirrel and not a cockroach? Because no matter how hard anyone tries, he can NOT BE FUCKING KILLED!!
Fun fact. Dodos are historically considered stupid because when they were first discovered near Madagascar, they had no natural predators. So when humans showed up they literally just walked up to the humans who needed something to eat. This gave them the reputation for being stupid, when in reality it was just a case of not knowing what a predator is.
It really does though. It even got nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film Oscar in 2003 but lost to Shrek. Also, everytime I rewatch it I notice something new about it which means it *does* hold up.
old school Ice Age was really touching. this movie would have been more powerful had it remained one movie. now it's just an out of control gimicky franchise that needs to be put out of its misery.
Rayshaun Preston if you're talking about mine, i cheated. there's a video on this website that plays a song i like with this image in the video. i just took a screenshot.
Ice Age 1: Meh, it's alright. Ice Age 2: It's better. Ice Age 3: Dinosaurs? I think they are running out of ideas. Ice Age 4: Pirates? Why was this film necessary? Ice Age 5: Oh come on! Another one?!
+Dry-Boult good lord, i didn't know until i saw this comment and looked it up, there are 5 Ice Age movies now?? (the 5th apparently comes out tomorrow) the last one i knew about was the 3rd one, and that and the 2nd were already pushing it. i mean, i won't deny that i personally liked all of those 3 movies, but i will admit that after the first one they were really pushing it with additional movies.. the knowledge that there's a 4th and soon-to-be 5th makes me nauseous..
But I mean, if theres an audience and you can make money off it why not? I would have done the exact same thing. Milk the money out until you literally cannot anymore, and obviously they still can. It's part of my childhood and I'll probably go see it because I still love the movies. I don't really care oh inaccurate it is, because it's made for Children, children don't know geography and don't come out the womb knowing what animals existed in certain times. People are so nit-picky for no damn reason. Like if this was a documentary I'd be pissed if it was inaccurate but it's a kids movies like seriously.
+Unoriginal Username But the Ice Age that we know of, Stone Henge, and Dodos all existed around 30 million years after the continents took semi-moderm shape. This entire franchise is a big "fuck you" to science.
It was the first animated movie of the studio. You can say the same about the first Toy Story and the first Shreck (though Shreck had very good designs that worked with the limitations). In the first Toy Story you can still see the polygons in the characters.
I Mean Dinosaur ( A Disney Film From 2000 ) However Uses Real Backgrounds While In This Movie Uses Digital Backgrounds However Dinosaur Came Out In The 2000. 2 Years When This Movie ( Ice Age ) Came Out Back In 2002.
The facial structure of those humans, with wide noses, flat heads, and small eyes indicates they are Neanderthals which were actually shorter than ancient humans who, in turn, were shorter than modern humans. Yet they are half the height of manny the mammoth, which was actually larger than elephants of today so these are some tall-ass Neanderthals or manny's just short
I just realized that all the frozen creatures and things inside the glacier represented the future movies. Think about it, the fish represented 2nd movie the Dinosaur represented the 3rd, evolutionary sloth 4th and space ship 5th.
Dam. I just realized there 5 of these movies. That's like 5 hours of. Sid doing something stupid, Diego being the hero but jackass at the same time and Manny being tired of this shit before any of it even started.

Weird fact: The letters in "ice" and the letters in "age" have alphabetic values that each add up to 10. "i" in ice = letter 9, "a" in age = letter 1, 9+1=10. "c" in ice = letter 3, "g" in age = letter 7, 3+7=10. "e" in ice and age = letter 5, 5+5=10.
Neanderthals lived in Europe, not North America. Only Homo Sapiens made it into North America. Maybe that's because of the crossovers of different species from different times and locations. One good example is the two Brontotheres, which, as a species, are native to North America and Asia during the Eocene period.
Now that I think about it. It would have been beatiful If instead of Ice Age the Dawn of dinosaurs were instead another plot going full circle with the trio seeing the baby as a young adult. Ending.
Scrat the Immortal. First time I saw this movie, opening scene had me laughing so hard I was crying. Scrat I think is the best part. Vote Scrat for President

The reason that Dodos are portrayed as being so stupid is because *they actually were that stupid.* They quite literally killed themselves off. Mammoths, on the other hand, were hunted into extinction by humans. Honestly, Cinemasins guy, didn't you take highschool level biology?
+Daniel Jones I've seen some ads when my younger sibling watches TV. Why, and how, the flying f**k is Scratch in a space ship?! (It's funny, because Blue Sky's ads for the film, or at least most of them, only feature Scrat. Nothing about any plot, or characters. At this point, I don't believe they even care about Ice Age anymore.
They really should have him interact with the main cast more. He only ever directly does in the first two movies (mostly with Sid, who wouldn't even remember).
I could see that happening, since Scrat indirectly caused the conflict in both Ice Age 4 and 5. First he caused the continental drift, then accidentally sent a meteor to earth. +Luke Dias Actually, I think he interacted with Sid in the third movie as well. Near the beginning, while they were freaking about a false alarm.
How about we all just collectively agree that this cannot be our earth? Because even if this is supposed to be Pangea there is no way that Dodos in India, Stonehenge in the UK and Old Faithful in the US are all within spittin' distance of each other.
"She's gone." Sin: Yep - and not a corpse in sight! But seriously, wouldn't it be floating in the water or something? You can show dead people in kids' movies!
You also forgot that prehistoric giant ground sloths are roughly 20 feet tall. I'm making it my job to sin cinemasins even though that video's been made.
JackPlayz76 but those mammoths were smaller than a bison and had silky fur instead of woolly fur and lived on an island in Siberia far away from humans and saber toothed cats and sloths so not that time period

Urghh.
Shrek franchise also went off track
@@mountkilimanjaro2982 well with the 3th one but NOT the fourth one
*welp i feel like i am making a comment storm but thats okay*
The first ice age movie was actually pretty deep at the end with diego's sacrifice. I almost teared up.
They might not be the deepest movies, but they have some great messages in them
I agree all except for the Scrat being funny part. I personally don't find him funny and feel he is more of a crutch to make people laugh. I usually skip those scenes cause i really enjoy the dynamic between Diego, Manny and Sid. Dont care about Scrat
Am i the only one that thinks jeremy should direct a movie?
And then sin it.
Nurdoidz when a reply gets more likes than the original comment........ but that would be cool he should let us sin it.
If he did, I'd expect someone to do a CinemaSins on it as well. Just so he can see how it feels.
We shall restore the balance.
If you really wish for a movie that's as funny as a page from a telephone book...
Wow the animation improved alot...
CookiePaws AJ Sadly, everything else didn’t.
The animation in this one creeped me out a bit...
..especially that baby 😣
@@icantanimate4424 well it's like 20 years old dude
@NoxiousKnoweris give or take yea
@@juliahornback2843 yeah but watch stuff like Monsters Inc., Shrek, and Finding Nemo all came out at similar times with way better animation. Though this Blue Sky’s first movie so its more comparable to Toy Story and Antz.
They milked this franchise to. The. Fucking. Bone.
Not as much as they did with Land Before Time and Alpha and Omega.
But still these creatures aren't dead in the films... sigh... -.-
They jumped the shark with the Mammoth Christmas special. The most recent Ice Age movie I have is Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
Lol the new one come out tomorrow
"Scrat is dead. Scrat is dead. No really, Scrat is dead. I mean... that totally the end of Scrat, right?"
Me: Yes, yes it is. But he's alive because... Squirrels.
SQUIRRELS
Ravenwing I love this part.
Ravenwing are we totally sure Scratt is a prehistoric squirrel and not a cockroach? Because no matter how hard anyone tries, he can NOT BE FUCKING KILLED!!
I don’t even understand why Scrat is in the Ice Age movies. Sid is already the comic relief character in the movies.
"Literal slap stick" HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🐯
Fun fact. Dodos are historically considered stupid because when they were first discovered near Madagascar, they had no natural predators. So when humans showed up they literally just walked up to the humans who needed something to eat. This gave them the reputation for being stupid, when in reality it was just a case of not knowing what a predator is.
Its a real species, but its not called a saber toothed squirrel. It is a prehistoric rodent that often grew long teeth.
Also, gay rhinos. Not wrong, just feels a bit wierd
Interesting
His point was that there was no Saber toothed squirrel.
news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/10/101102-saber-toothed-squirrel-fossils-paleontology-dinosaurs-science/
Yes, but it's pure coincidence (unless Blue Sky hid knowledge of their existence until 2011), so the sin still applies.
who else didn't remember 80% of this movie?
Nope
me
I forgot it had humans in it! O.O
me
This movie was my childhood soo I remember 80% of it
Everything wrong with The Bee Movie
I agree, that movie was so dumb!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes!!!
Ah yes, _The Bee Movie_: the first film to be composed entirely of memes.
Dorito Prince sin count: 0
the movie is absolutely perfect
It’s been 3 years and you still haven’t sinned the sequels. You also need to sin the Madagascar sequels.
"Where's the babyyyyy....."
"THERE HE IS!!!"
Lmao 😂😂😂 that should not be funny but holy shit
Ivy Chambers oh my god! Now that I think about it, it is really funny!
But it wasn't there. It crawled away c it sCaRy!
I tried it on my baby cousin, didn't end well..
This was my favorite movie as a kid, and I still have a lot of nostalgic love for it. I think it still holds up.
It really does though. It even got nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film Oscar in 2003 but lost to Shrek. Also, everytime I rewatch it I notice something new about it which means it *does* hold up.
And the idea of Ice Age is pretty original in Animated movies. It really was pretty great. But they should have stopped after they made the first one.
The animation is a little weird looking back at it, though.
+People Power79 the animation is like a fucking acid trip
+People Power79 the animation is like a fucking acid trip
old school Ice Age was really touching. this movie would have been more powerful had it remained one movie. now it's just an out of control gimicky franchise that needs to be put out of its misery.
Agreed. :)
Bruh, where did you find this picture? it's been years and years and I can't remember anymore.
+Rayshaun Preston (MrTehNoms) what picture? The profile pic?
Rayshaun Preston if you're talking about mine, i cheated. there's a video on this website that plays a song i like with this image in the video. i just took a screenshot.
TheLastHylianTitan aww poop. I wonder who the artist is...
Honestly Ice Age is one of my all time favorite movies from my childhood
For me it's right up there or almost so with _The Lion King_ in terms of a childhood soft spot.

Hello ! I'm Percy the Person
Hi Percy,I'm dad.
Aft3rmath Hi percy.

Hi Percy, I'm Poseidon.
Hi Poseidon, I'm Tyson.
Hi tyson, i'm Polythemus
Ice Age 1: Meh, it's alright.
Ice Age 2: It's better.
Ice Age 3: Dinosaurs? I think they are running out of ideas.
Ice Age 4: Pirates? Why was this film necessary?
Ice Age 5: Oh come on! Another one?!
Now they're making a new one where the squirrel builds a rocket ship and causes a meteor. They are definitely out of ideas.
Ice age 6: the skeletons of them running around the human world today.
Ice Age 7: Cold War
1st was awesome and there shouldn't of been another one after that imo
Ice Age 8: Nope! It's not the last one!
Ice Age 9: Fifty Shades of Ice
Ice Age 10: Scrat's movie
Ice Age 11: We're running out of ideas!
I don't get why people hate this series so much. :( Call me weird but I still love this part of my childhood.
Exactly, right? X(
I know! I'm not picky about movies, so since I like the movies' humor I like the movies
+Dry-Boult good lord, i didn't know until i saw this comment and looked it up, there are 5 Ice Age movies now?? (the 5th apparently comes out tomorrow)
the last one i knew about was the 3rd one, and that and the 2nd were already pushing it. i mean, i won't deny that i personally liked all of those 3 movies, but i will admit that after the first one they were really pushing it with additional movies.. the knowledge that there's a 4th and soon-to-be 5th makes me nauseous..
They hate it mostly for the sequels.
8:54 Manny didn't throw that snowball; that was the ball that Scrat was in from rolling down the slope
sin for being as unobservational as Sid
8:08 Also you just went from Old Faithful Geyser in South Dakota, USA, to Stonehenge in the UK.
***** Still, you went from the USA to the UK in very little time.
+INTernal Jordan unless the continental drift hadn't happened yet
+Unoriginal Username But the Ice Age that we know of, Stone Henge, and Dodos all existed around 30 million years after the continents took semi-moderm shape.
This entire franchise is a big "fuck you" to science.
+Alex Matias Even still, it would at

Paladin Luke and they keep making more!

Listen, trust me, I've made a CinemaSins video, and it's not easy. Especially timing the sound effects.
You gonna make a Cinema Sins Massive Score Kris?
God I don't remember the CG looking that dated, jeeze
SAME!! Crazy graphic difference
of course you didn't because this was new at the time. The more improvements come to cgi the more we see it's earlier flaws
It was the first animated movie of the studio. You can say the same about the first Toy Story and the first Shreck (though Shreck had very good designs that worked with the limitations). In the first Toy Story you can still see the polygons in the characters.
+Rafael Neumann But DreamWorks First Animated Film Was Antz But Why Shrek?
I Mean Dinosaur ( A Disney Film From 2000 ) However Uses Real Backgrounds While In This Movie Uses Digital Backgrounds However Dinosaur Came Out In The 2000. 2 Years When This Movie ( Ice Age ) Came Out Back In 2002.
12:37 You couldn't find a better fitting picture to represent the movie, did you?
Never seen any of these, but they have so many sequels so that means they have to be good...right?
Alvin and The Chipmunks
Fantastic four
At first they where kind of good
Surprisingly yes. The sequels aren't too bad either.
+Ash Williams shh! We don't talk about that franchise :/
The facial structure of those humans, with wide noses, flat heads, and small eyes indicates they are Neanderthals which were actually shorter than ancient humans who, in turn, were shorter than modern humans. Yet they are half the height of manny the mammoth, which was actually larger than elephants of today so these are some tall-ass Neanderthals or manny's just short
r/iamverysmart
Aeden Abram well this is a different universe where t rexes were 8m while suchomimus were 10 meters
I just realized that all the frozen creatures and things inside the glacier represented the future movies. Think about it, the fish represented 2nd movie the Dinosaur represented the 3rd, evolutionary sloth 4th and space ship 5th.
too true
My mind is blown
how does the evolutionary sloth represent the 4th movie? i get the others but i dont see how that makes sense
Continental drift, Sid finds his family after X amount of years.
wait was there anything else frozen??? , as that could be a hint to 6
My friend would feel personally attacked because we always called him Sid the Sloth.
IN A FLASH whats he gonna do about it considering that nickname?
5:05 didn't Sid just say that he tracked his family down even after they tied him up, left him in a cave, and covered their tracks up?
Do
Ice Age the Meltdown
Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Ice Age Continental Drift
Ice Age Collision Course
Julia Millions fr
Dam. I just realized there 5 of these movies.
That's like 5 hours of. Sid doing something stupid, Diego being the hero but jackass at the same time and Manny being tired of this shit before any of it even started.
Ice age SWEET lovely death of ice age baby
Elena Anaya lmao 😂
Ice Age the Fast and the Furriest
They've made more of this because of something called...
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY
MUST BE FUNNY
IN THE RICH MAN'S WORLD
In a rich man's world.
Man, didn't expect to see Abba references here.
Just like most other movie sequels.
MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO AROUND
THE WORLD GO AROUND
THE WORLD GO AROUND
MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO AROUND
THAT CLINKING, CLANKING SOUND
THAT MAKES THE WORLD GO AROOOOUUUNNNND
Money Money Money,
Always Sunny
Money Money.
They just get shitter and shitter every sequel
Weird fact: The letters in "ice" and the letters in "age" have alphabetic values that each add up to 10.
"i" in ice = letter 9, "a" in age = letter 1, 9+1=10.
"c" in ice = letter 3, "g" in age = letter 7, 3+7=10.
"e" in ice and age = letter 5, 5+5=10.
I don't care how many sins this movie has. This movie is hilarious!
Agreed
Why have humans not shown up in the subsequent movies?
they all died
+Meeba Productions ... and unextictified (yes, thats a word) a few thousand years later
+marty 8 I was just joking.
A few thousand years later ? I don't think the characters are that old in the sequels
they were extirpated
Do everything wrong with the road to el dorado
I liked that movie but they should do a video on it. :)
There's a typo in the title: Ding
+GoldenSamii 357 Where?
NOTHING.
That's in uncharted
Add a sin for how many people use Sid's "They do this every Year!!!" Quote on tiktok

Wout Hardonk Oh yeah, he did. +1 sin to cinemasins
Also, if you say interspecies hugging is a sin, that's racist.
+thesphynx Wow, it does xD
"Diego can smell when someone has finally gone to sleep, apparently"
Really? He could smell the other tigers... I understood that when I was a kid..
Really? No sin for the fact that "old faithful" and Stonehenge are in walking distance in this movie?
I thought I was he only person who noticed that
How about that Stonehenge wasn't build until about 3000 BC, but Pangea separated hundreds of millions of years ago.
KingInfinity lol, nice one
Also, the Dodo wasn't extinct until 1690.
Ink Stain Films rivers aren't very good at taking history into account.
1:38
Piglets: *playing in deadly tar*
The Croods and Logic itself: *IMPOSSIBLE!*
5:51 The baby is a neanderthal, don't expect him to be as cute as an actual day baby
This takes place in North America, a place where Neanderthals never lived. The baby is a human.
Justin Marshy well homo sapien
Gavin Soemotinojo well yeah a homo sapien sapien. Aka a human. Neanderthals were homo sapien neanderthalensis.
Breanna Lelewski no shit
Neanderthals lived in Europe, not North America. Only Homo Sapiens made it into North America. Maybe that's because of the crossovers of different species from different times and locations. One good example is the two Brontotheres, which, as a species, are native to North America and Asia during the Eocene period.
Humans never show up for the rest of the series.
I love this movie, it's a cinematic pillar of my childhood I'll always hold dear to my heart. The sequels, however, can all jump in a pool of lava.
The first 3 movies were awesome, the 4th was meh and Collision Course...ugh.
And burn with the female dodos in the geyser
I really liked the 2nd movie and the third was okay. The last two though
Who are you, Mark, Poopin and Eric?
Funny story, he sinned it at the beginning saying Saber-Toothed Squirrels didn't exist....cue one being found in 2011, which maybe should have been brought up since this video was in 2016? I dunno.
Ice Age: 9/10
Ice Age 2: 7.5/10
Ice Age 3: 5/10
Ice Age 4: 3.5/10
Ice Age 5: (prediction) 2/10
Yep
I must admit though, even though I'm 16 I still love watching Ice Age. Then again, maybe it's just the dedication I have for franchises of movies I grew up with.
I'd give Ice Age 3 a 7 out of 10. It was pretty funny lol.
Wait, wait, wait. You rank Ice Age 3 higher than Ice Age 2? The fuck is wrong with you?
No

CD wasn't horrible
Ryan Beckman I didn't mind CC (it was alright) but I do think 5 movies is enough or give Buck his own seperate movie (I honestly kinda want them to do that , like PussInBoots from Shrek)
Me too. 3 and 4 are my favourites, but I absolutely love Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
This Guy the full movie of ice age 5 is on RUclips I saw it and it was grand (6 or 7/10),definitely not the best in the series tho.

idk what if flushed away breaks him more than pete's dragon did?
Remember that? That nearly killed him and I don't think he and "Chris" have on speaking terms since then!
Jeez that’s a lot for him to do lol
The reason that Dodos are portrayed as being so stupid is because *they actually were that stupid.* They quite literally killed themselves off. Mammoths, on the other hand, were hunted into extinction by humans. Honestly, Cinemasins guy, didn't you take highschool level biology?
I didn't learn that in Honors Bio or AP Bio 🤷🏾♀️
From what I recall, we hunted the dodos as well. The last known dodo was reportedly shot by a person.
@@SUPERMATT5546

Huh? Because all I see is a comic relief sloth with a lateral lisp.
His reaction to 8:04 was the best ever. That was my legit reaction when i re-watched this movie when i got older lol
Ice Age 6
Scrat would be the villain.
Ice Age 6 The Winter Squirrel😂👌
Scrat is dead😂😂👌
You didn't sin stone henge for being with in a short walking distance from old reliable?
+1 sin for saying old 'reliable'. It is Old Faithful.
How about we all just collectively agree that this cannot be our earth? Because even if this is supposed to be Pangea there is no way that Dodos in India, Stonehenge in the UK and Old Faithful in the US are all within spittin' distance of each other.
Agreed
Pretty sure Dodos aren't from India.

You also forgot that prehistoric giant ground sloths are roughly 20 feet tall. I'm making it my job to sin cinemasins even though that video's been made.
So would that make Sid similar in size to Manny?

I’ve been watching this movie for as long as I can remember. It was a major part of my childhood, even though it came out less than a moth before I was born. I still watch it when I want to experience some nostalgia. It’s very near and dear to my heart ❤️
