That things like a land battleship. I'm amazed there aren't rules for it to simply run over a much smaller tank lol. Great review. It's stunning the lengths they went through for the door mechanism.
Thank you for the great review, you have done a splendid job of putting it together and the magnetisation is cool. If you don't mind me asking, where did you pick this kit up, was it a pre-release version from Warhammer Fest back in June or as part of the main retail release a few weeks back? I ask as I had 2 separate kits from the retail release and the casting quality was very disappointing so I ended up getting a refund. Looking at your kit I can see the casting quality is much better than the examples I got. I'd love to have the Mastodon as it an amazing piece, but I won't spend hours and hours of work putting right mould slips and airbubbles. Cheers!
You're welcome. Thanks for your kind words. Not at all, I pre-ordered the model from FW's website when it was up for general release. I did not pick it up at Warhammer fest. I think those events are cool (community, meeting the team, looking at displays, book signings etc) but against GW baiting their consumers to be able to purchase a model before release. That's disappointing to hear about your casts. Mine was fine, other than the usual bending of barrels etc. The sides and doors were difficult to line up. The resin was fine in quality though. I think I only used a little bit of green stuff near the back door and did not have any serious mould slippage issues. Glad you got a refund and hope you get a perfect one some day. If you're in the UK it might be better to visit the HQ and purchase one in person that way you can check. Understand it your experience with your casts puts you off. Anyway hope that helps.

Holy S@*# ! That’s a huge piece of resin goodness! Excellent review. Out of my justification to spend and probably wouldn’t go so well with my 30k Blood Angels. But amazing & impressive kit! Good luck smashing opponents! Sweet

Sup3rSaiy3n ....yo dawg I heard you liked space marines so I put a space marine inside a space marine inside a space marine transport inside a space marine transport with other space marines.
Hey! Thanks for the unboxing and a great review. :) Is there any chance that you could list the size magnets you'd used for the main top turret, weapon side sponsons, please? Would help than trying to figure it out, thanks! An excellent in-depth review. Will have to invest in this one day in the future. :) Look forward to seeing this painting up.
Hi. You're welcome. Thanks for your kind words. The magnets used for both the sponsons and the main top turret were 10mm dia x 2mm thick 1.6kg pull. You could get away with 1mm thick for the sponsons and 1kg pull.
With plastic Sicarans and Spartans, I hope this will get redone in plastic. The amount of assembly steps for model such as this one will be.... astronomical.
Ahh Sup3rSaiy3n! I am trying very hard to curb my miniature buying and then you show me this! I heard of your channel while watching one of my favourite RUclipsrs, Leakycheese. I must say I wasn't all that interested in the Mastodon until now that is! Cheers! :p I love that interior, detail like that appeals to me a lot. You have done a fine job in construction and magnetizing it. I recently discovered the magnet and how useful and easy they are to use so I am currently viewing all my kits with magnets in mind.I wish I had done so earlier. I shall resist buying one of these beasts for the time being but I shall keep it in mind when I finally get round to my Emperors Children Horus Heresy army which is half bought and waiting on me getting to it. Thank you Tim. I would be happy to make another review with 8th edition rules taken from one of the FW books. That was the plan from the beginning but then I decided to cover all new releases which kind of got in the way of my initial plans for content. There are new 8th edition rules for all of the FW kits coming soon within the next few months. With this being said would you still like a current rule update video now?
Ebz Pogi Thank you. I do paint my models when I can but am limited on time. I work 6 days a week and spend a lot of time on this channel. I pride myself on bringing these review videos to everyone as soon as possible which means forfeiting the paint. You may see them painted at some point.
I'm getting one of these next week, but it will be the first time I'd be using magnets do you have any suggestions/ tools I'd need for this project??? Would pinning be needed for some parts???
Sup3rSaiy3n awesome thank you, I am curious about the strength of the magnets you used (haven't used them yet and now I have to pay attention to kg pull)

There shouldn't be many times I have to hold the entire model to apply paint. - also most of the detail is on the removable top portion of the model.

You’re right. It is an expensive hobby. And a luxury many people around me cant seem to afford.

What would that be then like $400-450 usd? Lol.. gunpla will come in multiple tonnes of molded colors and is push to fit construction.. its poseable, doesnt require painting & not ridiculously expensive. I like war hammer 40k but fuck me they really abuse their fan base with the price of these models

at 300 pounds, it shouldn't need that much fiddling around to make it presentable :O ill never buy one because if you pay that much money and have to melt, heat, remold and magnetize different parts so they actually work, that is crazy , it's just a plastic model...i can buy a couple fully posable gundam wing models for 300$, or an epic quadcopter racing drone with cameras and first person view goggles and everything for 300$ , where is the justification for such a price?? it's just because people want it, i guess, but damn...thats to much for just static plastic, my god man it doesnt even have rolling tracks or anything!, i can buy a RC tank that drives around and shoots BB's for 75$, LOL. i'm not hating on you for buying it, if you like it, thats awesome but..i think that company that sells this stuff is ripping you all off man. my PS-4 was only 20$ more than this model , i mean...come on lol
@@Sup3rSaiy3n it is a bit, I just meant for me, it's to static for that price point, but I don't play Warhammer yet, but...someone I know had a box of 3 space wolves and gave it to me...and now I want to put them together 😮, he's a terrible friend...hehe
You know you are a Wargamer when, "It's still cheaper than a Warhound Titan", is an excuse to buy something ridiculously expensive

I agree, £300 is obscene for any tank (unless it's as big as a Titan).

FW should offer infantry inserts for this, akin to what they have for Death Korps; blocks of Marines standing shoulder to shoulder.

the model is incredible! Now thats a super heavy, unlike the knight crap...
Imperial knights are awesome.
Imperial knights are awesome.
Baran Duman I am talking model wise, not rules. I despise the knight model
imho I think the knight is one of the best models GW have released in recent memory, ever since then most of their releases have been top tier too.
I'm with you. I absolutely love the knight model, just wish they allowed you to pose the legs.

Sebastien Blaue Thanks. Yes it can carry 20. It can carry dreadnoughts too.

One of those models i like but it really dose not feel very space marine like, reminds me of the squats style of design.
Paint it on the sprue? I can't imagine painting it assembled would be fun

I started this hobby as a kid and continue to do so as an adult. It’s for everyone.
Fake products are fake products, whether they are clothing, computers or resin minis.
at 300 pounds, it shouldn't need that much fiddling around to make it presentable :O ill never buy one because if you pay that much money and have to melt, heat, remold and magnetize different parts so they actually work, that is crazy , it's just a plastic model...i can buy a couple fully posable gundam wing models for 300$, or an epic quadcopter racing drone with cameras and first person view goggles and everything for 300$ , where is the justification for such a price?? it's just because people want it, i guess, but damn...thats to much for just static plastic, my god man it doesnt even have rolling tracks or anything!, i can buy a RC tank that drives around and shoots BB's for 75$, LOL. i'm not hating on you for buying it, if you like it, thats awesome but..i think that company that sells this stuff is ripping you all off man. my PS-4 was only 20$ more than this model , i mean...come on lol
Sean C Yep it is hard to justify if you’ve never purchased a model like this before. Comparing to Gundam is like apples to oranges though.
@@Sup3rSaiy3n it is a bit, I just meant for me, it's to static for that price point, but I don't play Warhammer yet, but...someone I know had a box of 3 space wolves and gave it to me...and now I want to put them together 😮, he's a terrible friend...hehe
