- Actresses Lydia Cornell and Deborah Van Valkenburgh discuss their nearly three-decade friendship and share tales of Tinseltown survival at the retrocentric celeb convention The Hollywood Show on July 18, 2009, in Burbank. The "Too Close for Comfort" stars disclose their experiences working with TV father Ted Knight in an industry that tacitly states that young, beautiful actresses should be seen thin and voluptuous and not heard. Now an outspoken political blogger/radio host/writer, Cornell-who once naively crushed on co-star Jm J. Bullock- also shares her views on gay marriage.
Compared to most of Hollywood both Lydia and Deborah still look great

I loved to watch Too close for comfort that was such a good family show the last was great Ted Knight was so good I could watch the show over and over again .Johnny Mandell you dis a Beautiful job with the The theme song for the show .
I met Debrah, Lydia and Jim in Vancouver BC canada in 2010 . Nice people and down to earth
I remember her also from the movie.the warriors. It came out in 1979. That was a great movie about new York city gangs.
Lydia seems very smart and modest person and its sweet how she was intimadated working with an icon like Ted Knight from the classic mary tyler moore show...young starlets today seem so obsessed with themselves and would probably be fighting with the older stars of the shows for the limelight
I just found TCFC recently & been watching it every other evening. I still like the music in the opening & Jim was the straw that stirred the drink. He was funny.

Looking at this video and watching the show on t.v...looks like a split screen of the teens and their mothers...damn, what a huge difference time has made!

I always love both of them on the show Too Close for Comfort I remember used to be on Tuesday nights right after Threes Company on ABC and I enjoyed it so much I was in high school at the time they were pretty girls Sara n Jacks . Lydia n Debroha .

I would LOVE for a real Too Close For Comfort to be produced. I don't know if it could work without Ted Knight or the mother character. But Those 3 could do something for sure. With the same characters. I miss the character of Monroe's goofy persona. If you want more Jim J. look up my videos of the Jim J and Ann show.

@TheOptimistPrime Considering Ted Knight had alreadty been suffering with the cancer that eventually killed him even before the show began, it's understandable if he was a little moody, I think.

When I was younger (born 1976) I always thought wonder woman, the chick from Greatest American Hero, Wilma from Buck Rogers and the blonde from Too Close For Comfort were the prettiest girls on the planet. Lydia Cornell is still hot at 66.

I'm a decade late coming to this video, but because I enjoyed the show and liked the cast I definitely wanted to watch this. Notice I say watch; the sound is SO AWFUL half of what's said can't be heard. And since the person asking the questions is doing it on the fly , i.e., with inane comments and questions, there's nothing to hear anyway.
A theoretical question for the videographer: Why go to all the trouble to attend the Hollywood Show, get permission to interview on site the "Too Close for Comfort" hotties -- and not hold the microphone closer to your subjects? And obviously NOT do some research so you can ask intelligent questions? Show them AND your audience some respect. This was embarrassing. Not EVEN amateur hour.
The women were SO patient. If it wasn't for the camera and the world of social media NEVER letting a film / digital clip die, EVER, one or both of these actresses would have said after 90 seconds of awkwardness: "This better get better -- or we're done.."

@caban70 I also was around 10 when the show started...an awesome show! However, I was crushin BIG TIME on Lydia Cornell...she was crazy hot!! I liked Deborah better in The Warriors, and although she was very pretty, Lydia was sooo sexy (and still is) she slightly overshadowed Deborah at times. Just my opinion. They're both beautiful women...then and now!
Why, because Lydia's boobs were bigger? Cup size does not determine attractiveness. Bigger is not always better.
