  • Added an new tool to the farm box and pretty excited about it. We have completed Mobile Sheep Pen 1.0. We were having issues with some weaned ram lambs escaping out of everything we put them in. This has solved that problem and has opened up solutions to maybe more possible problems. Check out the video.

    Right on man thanks for posting the material list! saves a lot of time reverse engineering it from video. Gonna use the old buzz box to stick it together save a few bucks on the nuts and bolts! Cheers from BC, Canada

      Your welcome, good luck on the build. On ours the cattle panels starting break welds as the sheep got bigger. Make sure the welds penetrate the tubing. I had to use pipe tighteners.

    I am interested in pasture-fed chickens. I was thinking of walking the sheep in the pasture in front of my chickens. While I was thinking about this, I came across this video of yours. I watched your video and entered your channel. I liked your channel very much and subscribed immediately. I was curious about the height of the side walls of this mobile sheep pen, can you please write to me?

      Hello, glad you found us. The materials used is in the description. The panels are...4 - 16' X 50" cattle panels... This pen has worked great to put our ram in and feeder sheep. It also at times follow our chicken shelters as well.

    With a solar panel and remote controllable elctirc motor, you can even move the pen from your office or room with your mobile phone :) why not :)

      Lol. When the sheep got big they ended up moving themselves across the pasture.

    Thank you for the video! I have a question for you -- I am considering using different panels for the sides to make the pen better for our Nigerian Dwarf goats. At the same time, we will likely run sheep in the same pen so I was curious if you thought a 42" high sheep and goat panel would work for the sides?

      Your welcome. I would think so. The panels I used are 50” so I don’t believe 8” shorter will make much difference.

    Love this! Going to get one built for my Katahdin. What was your cost for labor and cost for materials?

    • @earnestrootsfarm7991
      @earnestrootsfarm7991  2 года назад +2

      the wheels - $280
      panels - $38 each x 4
      metal - $750
      hardwire - $100
      we really like it. Once the sheep get big enough they push on a side and move themselves.

      Awesome, roughly what should labor cost?

    • @earnestrootsfarm7991
      @earnestrootsfarm7991  2 года назад +1

      I did the labor myself. It’s was around 12-14 hours to build.

    Why did you use square tubing instead of angle iron?

    • @earnestrootsfarm7991
      @earnestrootsfarm7991  2 года назад +2

      Because it’s what the fellow used that I got the idea from. Never considered angle iron. Give that a try. I’d be interested in how it turns out.
