A really weird bug that just cropped up today is that you can no longer type a space character in RUclips in any legacy-Firefox-based browser (Mypal, Pale Moon, K-Meleon, Firefox ESR, etc.) -- it is now reserving the space bar exclusively for pausing/unpausing the video. I'm using Mypal, and to enter this comment I had to type it in Notepad and then paste it in to RUclips. The space bar still works normally in any Chromium-based browser.

While the XP OS can technically stream full HD video on RUclips, as shown in this demonstration, almost no XP-era computers can actually do it as they lack capable graphics cards / processors and don’t have 4gb ram but maybe 1-2gb.

@@arjan1995 plenty of devices with XP installed were shipping way into the late 2000’s, and many devices had XP driver support even if they shipped with later versions of Windows. A lot of people made the choice specifically to remain on XP after Vista due to the negative press around it so really, a lot of systems with XP were more than capable hardware-wise to play HD video.

I graduated in 2011. There were still Pentium 3 computers in use in some of our classrooms, running Windows 2000. There were exactly zero computers running anything newer than XP in the school district. While it's a small, fairly rural school district, that is still hundreds of computers. From what I hear, they finally migrated entirely to Windows 7 in late 2018... You know, a little over a year before Windows 7 hit end-of-life. Ah, gotta love government work.

People are just a little bit obsessive with this 'OMG you have Windows XP on the internet in 2021? We're all going to die!' approach. Yes of course I would never suggest it for any business use, but I still run an XP laptop with both the last supported version of Chrome from 5 years ago and Firefox ESR. It's fine. And as for the security risks, virus/malware coders are going after weaknesses in platforms which are in common use. It's why in 2017 XP was targeted by Wannacry when it was still worth it but the architecturally similar Windows 2000 proved to be essentially immune to it because it had not been targeted and the code was found not to run on it. XP usage on internet-connected devices has crashed in recent years and is now less than 1%. Newer versions of Windows still trace their lineage back to Vista, not XP. There might well be specific targeted attacks to get into infrastructure known to have XP in use to exploit, but no general malware is being made with XP in mind in 2021, that focus will now have shifted to Windows 7. Of course that doesn't mean it's secure (hence the opening comment about business use), just that in practice the risk is so small that it doesn't matter any more.

Interesting I might try that sometime with one of my spare thin clients. Honestly the last time I took an xp machine online was probably 4-5 years ago. My win xp retro gaming maching shares a montor, mouse, keyboard, and an external hard drive with my modern machine through a hub.
if I need to download anything for it, I just log on the other machine and save it to the external drive. I never seriously considered taking it online . Now I did consider a dual boot situation with the older machine so it could be a standalone device, but I found that running two machines sharing accessories works just as well for me. Better actually because I am not tied to 9 year old hardware for my internet activities.

looking at this makes me really miss XP, I'm sad microsoft ended support for it. It was really simple & made new windows users or even new computer users interested & wanting to learn, the fun colors, the customization, the design of everything is what people remember a lot. Everything is honestly better than windows 10 or anything from 8 & up, but microsoft wants to "focus on the future" or whatever they said
Regardless, thank you for making videos like this with older versions of windows or computers in general because not only are they interesting, they're a really nice look back as well as fun to watch. Now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to cry while listening to 95's easter egg song "clouds.midi" while I look at the old wallpapers from previous Windows versions

But with Windows Xp you have constant problems, just surfing become a big problem because 90% of the websites i visit, say you have no certificate, you get an error code. If you only surf and visit youtube, install Linux.

@@ibobeko4309 You can update the certificates. Also, new MyPal and MiniBrowser don't have any problems with certificates (even without updating the certificates, I only got errors on old chromium based browsers such as Opera and Chrome). Both of those are forks of relatively recent versions of chromium and firefox, so almost everything works.
That said, the same computer I was using is quad-booting Windows XP, 7, 8.1 and Linux Mint. I understand the new OSes are better for browsing the internet.
Browsing on XP can have its uses though. I have a really old laptop (1GB of ram, a single-core Turion 64 at 1.8ghz, and an IDE HDD), and XP is way faster than any recent linux distro I ever tried. I also dual boot it with Linux, but XP is definitely a better experience.
