Your 'short term pain' analogy and diagram is brilliant. It's something we don't get taught well enough here in Scotland, UK. People instantly think the 'long term freedom' goal is achievable by skipping the hard work. In fact, I'll hold my hands up and say I'm guilty of the same mindset. Keep up the great work !!
Well, the difference with you is you have admitted it to yourself. Most people never do... so that in and of itself separates yourself from the vast majority of people. Well done!
This video is about "short term pain"(working extra hours, losing money, patience, etc.) as a prerequisite for beginning a new career/hobby/etc. That's it. If you're looking for "how to trade stocks," look somewhere else.

My dad's teachings on the market amount to: "You can't consistently win all the time. No one can consistently predict what's going to happen. The best you can do is diversify and follow the market. It's kind of like gambling."

There are fifty thousand how to trading videos on youtube and not one of them starts by informing you that you need to learn self control before you can trade. Wisest words for a how to trade video for sure.
Cheers Tim. It's amazing how many people (read through other comments) fail to realize THAT is the point of the video and totally gloss over it. Then, fast forward to when they're showing no self control and losing money and wondering "why is this so difficult?"

Im 16 and I want to eventually become involved with the stock market and I've got a part time job and I've got money saved up. But after listening to you I'm going to save even more money and spend less so I can have more money to eventually use in the stock market. You're videos are really helpful, keep up the good work!!

I don't blame the people. There are so many "marketers" out there trying to prey on people by "selling the dream".... and yeah, "be prepared to sacrifice" is not really the best dream to be selling on my part lol
Clay, I've got the mindset. I've been poor a lot of my life, spent lots, saved lots for my age. I don't have a phone plan to save, I don't own a car, I walk. I roof in the summer and I keep a part time while I'm attending school. I may actually pick up another.

You basically described my life, I work my full time job, do my grad schools assignments, work on my business and try to learn ways to invest the spare money I have from my wages and side income, that’s all I do (and sleep). It’s hard, I’m exhausted sometimes but I know It will pay off at the end. I found inspiration to keep going on your video, thanks!

I'm 20 yrs old now! My daily life is the same as what you said: studying, doing assignments, having a part-time job, and now I'm looking for something new and I found buying stocks is interesting. I can make money with it

To be honest one of my major flaws is that I'm impatient. I have a hard time keeping a job because I'm just ready to jump in it what I want to do. Since you explained it like this it makes it easier to see that what's happening now is SHORT term pain. I must go through it to achieve my goals no matter the direction you go to make money to start. It's just short term. Thank you sir.

Thanks for your honest and straightforward approach. My dad nearly got roped into a $25,000 trading class at a flashy sales seminar. The finance fee (before interest) alone was more than your entire course. The real kicker for me was how they told students what lies to tell a brokerage firm in order to get an options account when they don't actually meet the criteria, rather than teaching them how to make a plan to meet those criteria.

That's HOW you get started. You prepare yourself to sacrifice. Just because you don't like Step 1 doesn't mean that it is not valid.
ClayTrader I have to agree with you both, I came here to learn how to trade but i feel like the title of this video was a bit misleading. However, the things I've learned from this video have been quite valuable and I am glad I watched it. Good work man, I'm going to check out more of your stuff and subscribe!

99% of the viewers needed that reality slap in the face. Myself included. It is indeed a big part of getting started.
I've already started that journey by attending a coding bootcamp and living at my mothers house lmfao. I've been broke the last 2 years. But, it took 2 years of solid hustle, learning, applying, to get to where i am now and now I have a job paying me 80k. So, now I'm starting the process of learning this so I could do this part time while I'm doing the things I need to do. I've got a growth mindset. But, first I'm going to use paper trading and and online resources to have a solid foundation before buying any course or finding a community. I've got the time and patience to make it happen.

This is some of the most realistic, honest advice I have ever heard on the internet. This man is telling us the truth.
The truth goes a long way in my opinion.
I feel like taking this guys advice might make me a little richer in the long run, but also turn me into a angry, no nonsense person that rarely smiles by age 50. I mean I'm pretty sure there are other ways to be successful in the stock market without being overly critical.

Now that there is Ustocktrade, with as little as a couple hundred, you CAN trade everyday as much as you like with no restrictions. It is only $1 a trade. Claytrader is not mentioning them because he wants people with little money to learn DISCIPLINE first. But if you are never going to get to those capital levels, and you want to test your skill, try Ustocktrade. Just remember, No OTCs, No after hours trading, No shorting or options, and no trailing stop losses.
You are right. That broker is going to slaughter so many newbie traders it's gonna be insane.
I mean im more of visual guy my self. Like what good is it to read a bunch of books and watch videos if your not going to get the experience first hand you know

This is twelve minutes of patronizing your audience. Most of us realize that trading stocks isn't a cakewalk. But honestly, if you imagine that you're speaking to some hippy-dippy, booze-drinking, game of thrones watching millennial, then you shouldn't make this channel. Those people don't normally give a dump about the market.
Your video can be summed up in one sentence:

This entire video could've been summed up in about three sentences. You're not wrong about what you're saying, but you have mislabeled the video (try something like "Trading 101: Requisite Mindset / Mental Preparation") and wasted 12 minutes for 200,000 viewers. More specifics and less soap box, please.
People don't remember a 3 sentence summary. People need to have these things driven home.

I just started watching your videos and I love how you laid down the hammer. I definitely agree with starting with a big capital investment. I started only with 100 and have made a few hundred dollars but imagine if I had started with 1000 into the shares instead of 100.

Preach it! I dont get why people think so low of budgeting ! I have always been budgeting and this is what helped me manage my expenses living overseas during my studies. Those sacrifices were well worth it! Through putting money aside for 2 years straight I saved $4000
Im in France now continuing to save and I plan to invest in real estate and hoping to launch my own company with these savings
