BOOK ON ORDER ! I Really Enjoyed This Conversation (Interview Is Too Stuffy Of A Description) I Have To Admit I Am Also Excited About The Upcoming Book In Regard To His Mother. Good Luck Mr. Moore, I Hope The Book Does Well.
Dope discussion. Although you didn't ask me, but I grew up on Hip Hop and my very first experience with rap music is Rappers Delight by The Sugar Hill Gang. As far as De La Soul they're by far my all-time favorite group, in Hip Hop while PE is my most influential group, in Hip Hop. De La's music was the soundtrack to my college years in the late 80's and early 90's. My favorite De La album is De La Soul Is Dead, because they dared to show growth, and it was the album that they challenged their fans that if y'all really rock with us then don't just be along for the ride cause we're going to give y'all insight into what's really going on with us, whether you like it or not. They were always drawing lines in the sand and daring the fans to make a choice. I truly miss Dave (Trugouy the Dove) to me he was the glue of the group; I respect Posdnous lyrically, but Dave seemed to have a flow that left you wanting more and you couldn't wait to hear what he had to say. (His loss really left a void in Hip Hop and one that we really have yet to reconcile.) Which leads me to their biggest influence: they were the group that paved the way for cats that didn't fit into the stereotypical rapper's imagery. De La took a lot of stray bullets so that others wouldn't have to. And, imo, I think this is their greatest impact on not just Hipp Hop music, but on music period. De La Soul is the modern-day Beatles, not the Black Beatles, rather our modern-day Beatles. Again, dope discussion. Thank you. Peace.
Loving the conversation! 🔥🌼
