Thank you for this video. I tried to open one of mine that had a broken screen but I failed miserably. After a few borderline serious cuts from the razer knife I gave up. I own two of these phones. A few months after buying the first one I dropped it at work and cracked the screen. I then bought a second one as a replacement since I really liked the phone and there was really nothing else with similar features available. I know the IR output isn't used by many but I find it useful sometimes. The actual headphone jack is definitely useful. The expandable SD card memory slot is also greatly appreciated since most top of line phones have deleted that option. Anyway, the replacement phone I bought has started to have issued with the USB connector. After watching this video I tried to open the broken one. I gave up after the second slice of the razer knife. Watching this video made me think I don't know how the author did it without injury. Yes it can be easily done with a razor knife and the proper amount of heat. How much heat is the proper amount before you cook it? I don't know. I gave up and brought both of my phones to a repair store and paid them just to open them both up. They were willing to do that for $50 and I was happy to pay it. With the phone open swapping the USB port was fairly easy with the help of this video. My working phone is now back to 100% working condition thanks to the help of this video. Maybe some of you will be able to get the back off without slicing your main artery but I gave up before that could happen. Once the back is off this phone is fairly easy to swap parts on.

Zack, it's not the first TCL phone. I can still remember TCL Idol X+ from 2013 (yes, 2013, 7 years ago). There's been a lot of phones released in 7 years. You might call TCL Idol X+ as Alcatel one, but it's the same company with different brands and for some markets it was sold as TCL, for some as Alcatel.
I own a phone called Flash Plus 2 manufactured by TCL way back early 2016 and that phone is still working properly and my mom currently owns it. It doesn't have any TCL Logo on it until you get in to the battery or get in to the details of tbe photos that you took using that phone where it will say TCL Commmunications FLO2 on the model.

I am absolutely buying the TCL 10L, this phone's little brother, for my dad as a replacement for an old prepay LG phone. At $250 with an even larger screen then the TCL 10 Pro (processor be damned, he needs a larger screen to see things), and it will work on Verizon as long as you contact them and provision service for CDMA-less, I can't really say no. My only other options for a screen that large near that price would be used Pixel 3 XL's.. which many have terrible screens.
Its just that apple phones are so expensive and they top out at a rather disappointing 18 watts. 25-30 is normal these days, with many companies going for 40-50. The highest right now is 65 with 120 coming soon.
The 16 megapixel wide-angle, 2 megapixel low-light, 64 megapixel normal camera, and the 5 megapixel macro camera all do not have optical image stabilization. So losing that OIS is definitely one sacrifice that'll be made when buying this cheaper phone. The front-facing camera has a 24 megapixel sensor, and also does not have optical image stabilization. This phone does however have a headphone jack soldered onto the mainboard. Kind of fun. Functional antiques are always nice to have around.
The brand recognition I kinda important for me because it says us about th brands experience and hence more refined phones. The TCL is a pretty good phone in my opinion. I'd buy it.
TCL has been around a while in Europe and Asia, earlier they used to make phones under Alcatel brand. They've also been an ODM for a few Panasonic phones in India. The main issue with them was really poor update support. Do not expect timely security or Android updates with this brand....but if that does not matter to you, this company usually delivers value for money products.

TCL's name (what i think): The Cool Low end phones
Man he has created his whole career by opening up smartphone. How amazing isn't it .big fan love from India.
JerryRigEverything: 18 watt isn't fast charging anymore
Me: *thinks 5 volt USB C is fast*
edit: am half asleep srrr i cant read
@@riley5114 No fr. My Oppo A5 2020 had a 5 watt 2amp charger but it charges in 2 hrs and I thought that was amazing :/
tomikun i have a pro max and i dont really need more than 18 tbh
Apple users who get surprised when they realise Android phones don't take 4 hours to charge
@@tomikun8057 you probably have a 5 volt 2 amp charger which is 10watts
only takes 2 hours for my pro max to charge to a 100
This is actually pretty good for a first attempt phone
Zack, it's not the first TCL phone. I can still remember TCL Idol X+ from 2013 (yes, 2013, 7 years ago). There's been a lot of phones released in 7 years. You might call TCL Idol X+ as Alcatel one, but it's the same company with different brands and for some markets it was sold as TCL, for some as Alcatel.
Part of the camera falls out
Jerryrig: flicks it off the table 🤣
That smile emoji makes me want to punch someone in the face
3:07 I Dont know why that just made me laugh
Me too
It is making me laugh too but why!?!?

iPhones are also pretty forgettable, Apple just reminds us by reselling them all over again every year.
@NotLxrd no apple just reminds us by reselling them all over again every year
Wait, this looks like a good phone.Good job, TCL.
The way you fixing phone is satisfying to watch

Then i can use my hands to lift up the battery.
"The phone scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7"
I can't seem to get enough of this *Phrase*
glass is glass, and glass can break 😂😂
"Like a little Lego"
Let's get started
I will see you around
Jerry: cracks a back panel
Also jerry: it just cuts away and folds open like a book
I own a phone called Flash Plus 2 manufactured by TCL way back early 2016 and that phone is still working properly and my mom currently owns it. It doesn't have any TCL Logo on it until you get in to the battery or get in to the details of tbe photos that you took using that phone where it will say TCL Commmunications FLO2 on the model.
I started buying old Lego sets because of this channel. I forgot how fun and nostalgic Lego was. Crazy how a pandemic leads you down odd rabbit holes.

Same 🤣
I waited for a long time for him to say “LIKE LITTLE LEGOS” ...
Love ur vids ❤️!!!
Extra sassy & funny in this video. The whole video cracked me up.
Everyone in comments : i forgot this exist .
Me: *first time?*
Zack: digs at Apple for lower charge ability
Also Zack: some studies show slower charging is better for the battery
Well, there's "slow" and "slow". 18W slow is fine, 5W is not.
Heimen Stoffels 5W is actually the best thing you can do if you charge it over night (like Zack is doing) 🙄
“Slow charging isn’t a complaint for me” unless it’s from Apple.
PeanutButterBalls I take this as a joke I am a Apple fan boy
@@nikaiitrk lol
Its just that apple phones are so expensive and they top out at a rather disappointing 18 watts. 25-30 is normal these days, with many companies going for 40-50. The highest right now is 65 with 120 coming soon.
Colin Deans nah jerry is an Apple hater. Dude it’s so obvious watch any other video about iPhone
Bruh epic is suing Apple
5:02 As a phone repair guy myself, this hits in the relatable area.
I think everyone wants to see Zack durability testing the Redmi Note 8 & Note 8 Pro
Zach "Here we are in the weird spot between the plague and waiting for aliens"
Me: giggled and then realising that it is 2020.
Especially since the pentagon released those.....

The brand recognition I kinda important for me because it says us about th brands experience and hence more refined phones. The TCL is a pretty good phone in my opinion. I'd buy it.
Brand is important to me because only Apple and Google bother to provide timely security patches.
Watching on the TCL 10 Pro, my favourite phone I've owned so far
TCL has been around a while in Europe and Asia, earlier they used to make phones under Alcatel brand. They've also been an ODM for a few Panasonic phones in India.
The main issue with them was really poor update support. Do not expect timely security or Android updates with this brand....but if that does not matter to you, this company usually delivers value for money products.
