  • August 12, 2012 - You and I must contend for truth. We must get into this book [the Bible] and make the choice that these words are going to guide my life. These words rightfully divided; these words in full balance. Scripture interpreting scripture, studying, understanding; this is the guide for my life!

The most genuine pastor I've ever heard. Every sermon of his I've listened to has moved me.
In one of his sermons he says to the congregation, "Be glad that I love God more than I love you... otherwise I would preach to you what you want to hear not what you need to hear. I am preaching to you not so that you can feel good but so that your soul may be saved."

I have to say this at 13:38 he is wrong I had to look it up for my self and I found that lascivious means that of a person, manner, or gesture) feeling or revealing an overt and often offensive sexual desire. that changes the whole thing and the message does anyone get the feeling that we may be hearing to false doctrine let me know what you all think one more thing is it sounds weird when he says he blesses God it doses to me

@@aperionnick2535 I think the enemy is trying to steal the blessing from you.. remember that this man is human, not perfection. I would encourage you to not look for fault and just consume the heart of this message. God is faithful to open our eyes and hearts to truth but satan only wants to bring strife and confusion. I pray blessings and peace be with you today.

Hello. I know this is an old post, but I just came across it for the first time, today. You asked what people thought, but it doesn't look like you got any responses other than a few knee-jerk reactions.
You are correct about the standard dictionary definition of lasciviousness, but what Pastor Conlon is referring to is in the context of Scripture. Turning God's grace into lasciviousness means that false shepherds will take God's grace, and turn it into a false doctrine that will lead people into lasciviousness by convincing them that they can squander God's grace and continue in their sins without consequences. They basically will use God's grace as an excuse to keep sinning. I recall a pastor who used to refer to it as "greasy grace." When we come to Christ, we are given the opportunity to repent of our sins and be transformed. We should want to do right in the eyes of the Lord. Of course, we will fail, because we are human, but God knows each person's heart. He knows if people are truly repentant, or if they are trying to fake it. It would be like going to church after stealing a candy bar from the store, throwing yourself on the altar, asking for forgiveness, then, leaving church and going back to the store to steal another candy bar, all because you know you can just go back to church and God will wash it off if you cry on the altar.
The other thing you mentioned was thinking that it sounds weird when Pastor Conlon mentions blessing God. We bless God by praising Him, worshipping Him, calling out to Him, singing to Him, and simply communicating with Him. It blesses Him too whenever we genuinely bless others and do it in His name. I'm reminded of a song that we used to sing that was titled, "I Will Bless Thee O Lord."
Anyway, I hope you find something here that gives you a little more insight into Pastor Conlon's message. I have listened to his teachings for some years. Believe me, if I thought he was anything but a genuine man of God, I wouldn't do it. He isn't perfect, and he doesn't claim to be, but I have never heard him preach anything that couldn't be backed up with Scripture.
