  • Today, we are going to make a journey to France. At the great model railway exhibition in Leipzig, Germany, the French model railroad club “Amis du Rail 67” presented its beautiful layout built in HO scale. On the modular railway layout, there are one large railway line in HO scale, two railway lines in narrow gauge, and a miniature street for vehicles of the famous Faller Car system. The whole display takes approximately 15 meters in length and 5 meters in width.
    Pilentum was absolutely fascinated by the good work, how buildings and trees and the landscape were modeled. Furthermore, the background consists of a beautiful painting. I guess, the background image was painted by Patrice Hamm, a famous artist in railway modelling. The model railroading club and its members created a very special atmosphere: The landscape is not overcrowded with gimmicks. It is a simple, but very beautiful landscape including a small town with half-timbered buildings.
    But the most important thing, of course, is the rail transport traffic. On the main line of the railway, we can discover a lot of the finest steam locomotives and steam trains used by the French State Railway. There are also some diesel locomotives and, for example, the famous French railcar. Therefore, there is no catenary, because the French model railroaders do not prefer high-speed trains, only steam trains and freight trains.
    On the two narrow-gauge lines some ugly model trains running on two independent loops. Mostly, there are railcars for passenger traffic running between the small villages. Finally, there is also a miniature car system. There are trucks and buses driving behind the railway lines.

    I like the birch trees. Gives me an idea for my layout.

      Sorry, no photos. I haven’t started to build the baseboard yet. I am trying to get the room cleared for it and I’m collecting ideas for it so far. I intend to base it loosely on part of the Waverley line from Edinburgh to Carlisle.

    Very beautiful. U suggest to use cars from the steam era on the faller car system that matches the era of the locomotives.

    • @pilentum
      @pilentum  6 лет назад

      The club members build the vehicles themselves - that's how I understood it. And when you start building a car system, you first build big cars, then smaller cars. Therefore, there are primarily trucks and buses from modern times. But it's true: The vehicles have to match the time period.

      Also, there are very, very few models in HO of French commercial vehicles from before about 1960 or so. Mostly German, Dutch or Swedish models which would not have been common in France before the late 1960s.

    Plastico molto bello che si merita il massimo, ma alcuni particolari devono essere migliorati: i treni devono essere tutti invecchiati, la velocità dei veicoli e dei treni della ferrovia a scartamento ridotto È TROPPO ELEVATA, la Chiesa deve avere le fondamenta raccordate col terreno ...

      Hello to India! The model trains are built normally in 1/87 scale. These locomotives and wagons, you can buy from the manufacturers Roco, Jouef, Piko, etc. Maybe you can not buy them in a shop in India. But you can buy them anywhere in Europe on the internet.

    What a fantastic railway! I always enjoy your commentary, giving a description of individual scenes and your English is very good. I love the close up of small scenes, showing you just how realistic the railway is. If I may make a suggestion, it would be nice to have a few seconds showing just how big the railways are. I really like the realistic acceleration and deceleration of the engines, at stations and signals. Thank you again, for a wonderful video! 🙂

    Why the trains are keeping right?

    • @chrismatthews2579
      @chrismatthews2579 6 лет назад +2

      If I remember correctly, trains in Alsace used to run on the right because the railways were built while the area was controlled by Germany after the Franco-Prussian war.

      In this video: Camera Panasonic HDC 600, 1920x1080 pixel, 50 fps. No additional light. The most important thing: Color correction and white balance correction with the EDIUS BROADCAST video editing software.
