ive tried to do something similar to this with Philllip, but jao might be better. the early game is much better for spain, first trade route maybe being 12 gold 4 production 2 faith is crazy, but when that 50% bonus kicks in you just get so much extra yields, the civic that gives you food and production to allies + democrazy is insane late game. also mansa musa can have better gold routes if you can find just a massive flat desert.
