I got my Model Y 3 in Salt Lake 3 days after you, on 8/4. (5 seat, Gemini wheels, White Exterior, White Interior, tow hitch, no FSD). We got the mobile connector included with only the 110 plug, but people paying $200 for it now will get the NEMA 14-50 plug also.

So far no problems. Having to turn off the autopilot every time I change lanes is already bugging me.
Tesla gave $200 discount code. I used it in the Tesla shop, and got the connector kit for free. It has both connectors (mobile and NEMA 14-50).

I just ordered mine with the tow hitch for that specific reason only, for our bike rack, thankfully the bike rack we just purchased for our new bronco sport will work with the Tesla as well.

I was able to carry 5 bikes with Thule rack attached to my tow hitch and another one the top with roof racks. I believe Thule bike racks are the best.

I have order a model Y in November sill waiting. I did order tow package and 7 seats, long range. My question is did you put the cover panel back on? I was going to pull a small trailer form time to time. Also how do you like third row seats. I was hoping to put grandkids there.

Yeah I put the panel back on when not using the tow hitch, the 3rd row seats are a very tight fit, only small kids can fit back there, but they are nice to have
Do you think having the tow hitch installed makes it safer incase of a rear end collision when you have little ones in the 3rd row?! Just wondering your thoughts.

I wouldn't think so, the tow hitch is below the rear bumper, so I'd doubt it provides any additional protection
It would be wise to stick some sponge or carpet to the mast so that if you accidentally open your boot lid it will not be damaged.

Can you share the dimension between the end of the receiver tube and the furthermost vertical rear body part. I need to verify the bike rack I want will clear the body when in the stowed upright position. TESLA does not share this information with the public. My MY ordered in March 2022 scheduled Oct 13 - Nov24 2022. Long Range-Red-Tow Hitch-No FSD

i'm wondering the same thing. I have a 1up rack that has enough clearance on my mini van and Volvo.
Any idea how much impact does this rack have on battery consumption? I have found that with my current rack, the battery consumption was almost double and car failed to predict the destination battery percentage by a huge margin. I didn't enable tow mode so maybe that was the reason for poor estimation.
It makes a difference, it creates additional drag, I haven't used it on long road trips so I can comment, but using tow haul mode probably will help.
yea bad prediction of range is a big issue when on road trips it seems to me. I've heard 25% reduction in range if you keep it at 70mph. faster than that and it will be worse. Not to mention the backing a supercharger with bikes on the back.
I always mounted the bike's top tube on top of both arms of the rack. If that 'front' strap lets go that bike is going to fall at its rear and likely swing in all sorts of directions. I also always secured the front wheel to the frame. I used a strap and quick release buckle. Why would someone intentionally let the front wheel twist side to side?
Also, that 'drop' mount, that ball can likely simply be mounted the other way, turning it into a riser mount (check the label)

Hello. My current vehicle is a massive nuisance to drive with my hitch mounted bike rack on because the rear automatic braking slams on the brakes when I go in reverse and there is no easy way to disable that without having to reset it every single time I drive. How does the Model Y deal with this? Is there an easy way to disable any rear parking sensor alerts/autobraking?
Yes, put it in tow/haul mode and it takes care of that
@@Myksgarage I have heard this disables Autopilot. Is that true? Not being able to use autopilot for 1/2 the year would be pretty brutal

Tesla says there’s a 160lb weight limit for cantilevered mounts. That’s total for both the rack and the bikes.

You mean 60lbs
This is true that is the tonque weight limit...very easy to exceed with a big rack and lot of bikes. And remember that is a static weight limit. Dynamic loads are much higher when hitting bumps. The Y is not a truck people.
