    Interesting to see how the doors sound closer to the way they are now on the 188s as opposed to the way they sounded later in their 142A life. Also great to see how different the interior LED sign was back then. Didn’t know 142As were capable of displaying lower case letters. Great video!

    So awesome & fascinating seeing the R142A’s when they were brand spanking new in 2000. I didn’t get to ride it until 2002 and they looked so cool on the 6 then cause it was the arrival of the future. 20 years later it’s crazy seeing the R62A’s back on the 6 and the R142A’s becoming R188’s and on the 7 Train. I miss them on the 6 Train but they are doing a damn good job on the 7. Nice to go back in time again but hard to believe it’s been 20 years!

    Ah yes. The golden era of the NYCTA. Jessica Ettinger is IRT Lexington. Miss hearing her voice fully present despite that the R142A are no longer the (6). And lets not forget the father of the subways himself, Charlie Pellet. Good times, good times.

      i really hate how they removed her classic yet somewhat aggressive sounding 'the next stop is...' announcement and the r142a trains on the 6 line were incredible tbh they shouldve given the 2 train the older cars from the 7 and kept the r142a trains on the 4,5 and 6 lines for a possible cbtc upgrade

      @Tyson Johnson The 7 train was getting CBTC and the r62as were not compatible so the most the sets the 6 train had got converted while the rest was sent to the 4 and new ones were made in 2011- 2013 and once all trains were there the r62as were sent back to their original line and cbtc was powered on

    • @kaisworld31
      @kaisworld31 3 года назад

      @Tyson Johnson here’s my hypothetical answer lol...
      The Flushing Line became CBTC and so instead of them building a wholeee new fleet of cars even though they built R 188’s, it was easier and cheaper to just convert the R142As into CBTC compatible which are the R188s, which were removed from the 6 line, since Lexington Avenue isn’t CBTC.. that’s what I believe.. why the 6 idk, maybe it’s the least ridership and remember almost all the r62a’s that were on the 6 before the née tech cars came into its service were sent to the Flushing Line so it makes sense lol
