- The warm weather is here and I love to start making summer recipes at home like my cucumber sandwiches with cream cheese and homemade marinated Bourbon beef sirloin tips on the grill. I thought I share some of the recipes I will be making, take you along grocery shopping, then prep a couple of the recipes, while I chat about things such as the home decorating project I am working on with design client's.
I believe fine living and happiness begins within ourselves and at home. My goal is to help you find your own version of fine living, no matter how simple or grand that may be, no matter where you live. I love everything you do! Thank you for allowing us in your beautiful home. I wanted to share something my Mother taught me on the tea sandwiches which you may already know and prefer not doing. My Mother catered weddings and large events for 30 years and needless to say we all learn from our Mothers. But, she would add a tiny layer of Country Crock Spread at room temp between the layer of bread and cream cheese. It was to keep them from being too soggy. It also tasted pretty good, It helped to have them ready in advance or when it was hot. Please just keep being you! I love your Channel.

I, too, strap my purse to the cart. It is December 30th, 2021 today but cucumber sandwiches still sound good!

Oh Linda, I did it again. I’m watching a food video at 11:30 pm. Jeez! What was I thinking? I guess I’ll pick up cucumbers, cream cheese, and Italian seasoning tomorrow. Hopefully they will have the bread. It’s hit or miss here as well. My mother in law made an awesome shrimp spread on the tiny bread as well. Bourbon steak looked delish also. Thanks for sharing. Nothing like going to bed hungry. Lol

Markers Mark is used in Mint Julips. BOURBON trail Kentucky is fabulous place to find Bourbon.
Do you know I don't think I have ever had one. If I did, I don't remember. Maybe I will have to make one up!
This brought back to memory my mom’s cucumber sandwiches, & the ones my younger daughter & I enjoyed when she was little. Never knew about the Italian Dressing addition! Looking forward to trying that. Thanks, Linda. 🌻🌻🐝

I remember the cucumber sandwiches very well from years ago and we always loved them too. Thanks for refreshing my memory on how to make them. The beef in the marinade is something I want to try on Sunday for Father’s Day because it sounds like a winner. I was planning on grilling mushrooms along with the beef using fresh marinade to baste them with. Thanks for making great and interesting videos!!!!

Just a random comment-I had to smile when I saw the jar of Pastene brand. My aunt and uncle lived in Leominster (and I still have family in Mass.) and they would always bring me Pastene products. I tried for years to make my aunts sauce recipe, and could never figure out why it didn’t taste like hers. Then she told me she used Pastene brand. We can’t get it where I live, so they would always bring me cases of it every time they came to visit. I went to Leominster and Lunenburg for a family funeral a couple of years ago, and stocked up while I was there. Need to get back there to get more. Anyway-just a random comment. Made me smile.
Isn't it wonderful that the smallest things can spur fun memories.

Hello Linda, I am going to try the sirloin recipe. I try checking the milk at the store. I do not like using my hands to mix ground meat. You are not alone with that. The Navy looks good on you. Willow was so happy! Hope Ben has a Happy Father’s Day

We have Woodford in a decanter too. My husband and I like Old Fashioned’s. I made your lavender simple syrup and used it in an Old Fashioned. It was good! That party rye reminds me of my childhood too. My mom made a cheesy version for parties. I really enjoy your channel!

The butcher was telling me all about the shortages and the prices. It's crazy!
When possible grow your own herbs and veggies to offset the increase in meat prices.
Oh how I wish I could buy King Arthur flour here in Ontario. I used to bring bags of it back when we were in Maine and then stored it in the freezer for baking all through the year.
They do sell it online, but I am going to guess the shipping cost would be more than the flour itself. ?

Can you tell how you did the turkey baster? Did you buy the syringe tip?
I purchased the turkey baster with it. I don't see them often.
Just a precaution, if your decanter is crystal it’s only safe to serve your beverage but not to store in as the lead will leech out.
Thank you! I use lead free Crystal for decanting. It’s a product I used to carry at my store for that reason.
