I think a lot of people tend to mix up commentary and reaction content. Lemmino’s solution to the react problem is literally just making a commentary video. Leafy may have been a bully but he made entertaining and more importantly transformative videos. Also the appeal of reaction content is the same as when we watch random videos in a call, just in a less healthy parasocial way.
Woahhhhh I’m all for dogging reaction vid but people praising Leafty, have yall even beeen there? We are still feeling the effects of that weed! NO! NO! I will not tolerate this! Leafty is bully. Period. No buts, ands, or yets!
I'm almost done with jackets levels on the first game (got the collection for switch) on chapter 14 currently. I love the tony mask cuz knuckle sandwich
the first option definitively would be the best solution in term of quality, but the thing with it is that some of the big react guys are doing it live, making it impossible, so the second best option would just to ask permission imo that video was great, you had excellent points
I think reactors like Gorthemoviegod and Renegades React are good examples of HOW to do reactions. They add their own sense of humor, pause and give commentary or criticism, and even branch out by doing gaming/review stuff.
Joe Bartalozzi is an example of a Good reactor, since he normally adds like 20-40 minutes of commentary to a 10 minute video. And he also credits the videos in his description.
this vid kinda made me reflect on how i react to videos on my streams. i always try to provide commentary and make jokes while watching it, as to not be a sniperwolf or xqc clone, but i do sometimes wonder if its enough. have no clue whether to stop reacting or to just git gud lol. overall very good vid, very hype
I thought you stopped uploading until I saw this in my recommended. Didn't know you did a bit of a content change. Hope to see some terrible mobile game reviews again but I support you in this new direction. I mostly just like your editing style as you commentate.
Oh my god the point about people agreeing with the content creator they watch without watching or interacting with the content itself is so true. Fortnite had that issue like CRAZY at a point, with everybody starting to dunk on it at a point, then now people are just starting to accept the game has still been fun, I WAS THAT SAME WAY. I've just learned to watch more things about a subject to form my final opinion, or better yet, interact with the ACTUAL content.
I kinda miss the many reaction videos where people would give their thoughtful and informative experiences/opinions on it instead of the one-word reactions nowadays.
Thank you Dong, for, once again, popping up in a comment section and making a mind numbingly obvious statement and adding absolutely nothing to the conversation. A true BuiHieuDong classic.
I believe a great exception from the reaction channels group is Knox Hill, he does reacts of music and videos like your average youtube reactor, but unlike them, he brings more to the music/video, like explaining the meaning behind the music, or just funny reactions and commentary. It might just be my opinion, but i think he's great ☺
Unrelated but, Something I really like about Sournales videos are that he puts the video development time for each video in the description. Honestly really unique :D
this video dives into the real problems within reaction content without any major padding, nice job. also I suggest for you to talk about the half life series
5:00 You know, this is why i had always enjoyed Charmx's content before he quit RUclips, he'd always pause the video whenever needed just so he could make a meaningful comment with his current thoughts on what was going on in the video, he was pretty entertaining as well, his fanbase was pretty small but still we enjoyed our time while it lasted. can't forget to mention he actually credited the creators he's reacted to. Wherever he is, i really hope the guy's doing fine in life
Sniper: Boom. Headshot Sniper: Sniping's a good job mate. Challenging work. Outa doors. I guarantee you'll not go hungry. Because at the end of the day, as long there are two people left on the planet, someone is going to want someone dead. Sniper: Ooh Sniper: Dad... I'm a... I'm not a crazed gunman dad, I'm an assassin. Well the difference being ones a job and the other's mental sickness! Sniper: I'll be honest with you, my parents, do not care for it. Sniper: I think his mate saw me. Sniper: Yes, yes he did. Sniper: Feelings? Look mate, you know who has a lot of feelings? Blokes who bludgeon their wives to death with a gold trophy. Sniper: Professionals have standards. Be polite. Be efficient. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet. Sniper: Dad.. dad... Put... Put mum on the phone.
a great example of a good reaction chanel is Grim,a youtuber who makes videos reacting to weird and creepy internet animations/videos,but instead of just watching it and going "oh that's gross" "oh that's funny" he actually adds something by tring to help the audience giving his opinion on what it might mean or probiding certain info that helps understand what the video is referencing, and also is very helpfull by promoting the original creators of these animations, more than often asking for permition or even getting asked by the original creator to react to their video.
The only reaction content i watch is the type of reaction content that actually is interesting and the RUclipsr doesn't just say a bunch of random garbage or just straight-up let the whole video play out and not add anything to it (I like to call it actual reaction content) but sadly trying to find actual reaction content is super hard nowadays
I think a system where react channels get instantly demonetized and they are unable to get on to the suggestions page would be good imo but idk how they'd implement that. That is probably the best way to get rid of the issue as much as possible effectively imo since they're never going away anyways.
i feel like the solution of reacting to a key portion of a video and giving your opinion on it is the best, some chanells do it perfectly, like Pegasus. Some, on the other hand, just feel like theyre dragging it out, content creators like Engween or Acheeto. They show a clip of a video theyre reacting to and then spend 5 times the runtime of that video discussing it and spilling just so, SO much water.
the mobile unfriendly way of making reaction content: link to the original video as much as possible before starting it. indicate via 3 repeating sounds (with the third sound being distinct and more noticeable), when to start the video, and when to pause (for streamers, have those sound cues play via a hotkey or button to click). DO NOT overlay the video. Overlaying audio is optional, but if you do, tell the viewers to mute the original video audio.
An example of a good reaction channel is Renegades React. Not only do they provide input, discussions, and criticisms, but when they have longer conversations about it, they pause the video and generally take the video off the screen until the conversation is over. And they also tag the creator of the original video in the title when they can.
Pretty brave of you to discuss moist critical in this video, placing him in the same genre of reaction channels albeit he does put way more effort in the video in my opinion. But pretty respectable because people view him as someone with zero flaws what so ever. You made a good ass video you got my like 👍
It's worth noting that reacting to an entire video is not covered by fair use (and the same is true about reacting to the part of the video that is core to the experience). Fair use is supposed to be about using as small of a portion of a video as possible to make your point while making it transformative. It's very clear the law is lagging behind on this and might never catch up. Good video btw. Though needs more person in the corner eating soup.
i found a video today where some guy put a troll face and that one fallout song over an animation, the troll face one had 21m views and the actual video only 1m (btw the animation was pine devil, its pretty good)
The only reaction videos I'd watch are from FGC creators, and even then only a select few. Creators like Sajam (unless his content has changed since I last viewed them) will actually inject their own opinions, demonstrate their point using related game footage, and have a sort of (admittedly one sided) debate, so at least they're adding something that engages your critical thinking skills. Edit: Also, the major issue I think with reaction videos is that we don't teach critical thinking skills very effectively, and younger and younger people who don't have the years of experiences to form their own opinions are accessing the internet as well. It's really easy to blindly accept someone's opinion on a topic when you have no experience in the topic they are talking about and don't have the skills to tell or research if someone is bullshitting you. Humanity in its current state is incredibly under-equipped to deal with the (often biased) information face throttling that is the internet.
