I go through the Goodwill with blinders on. I needed a manual can opener, a turkey baster, some pee pads for my old dog and a food grater. Found ten packages of pads for $2.99 each . Normally pay $16 each from Amazon. Food grater 50 cents , can opener 50 cents and turkey baster 25 cents. When I got to the register the girl took my $50 bill and gave me a $20. I put it all in my trunk when a woman came up to me telling me she was hungry and thirsty . I felt lead in my spirit to help. So I gave her a huge bottle of water and the $20 . I went grocery shopping next and saved $87 with coupons and rewards . God always takes care of me. Keeping the homeless woman in prayer.
I'm in the midst of simplifying our home and having less 'stuff' enables me to quickly clean and tidy (such a good feeling by the way) ......... So while I may shop in a thrift-type store to look for something specific that I need, I save money by having a list as a guideline to keep me focused. My end goal is to keep our home clutter-free and clear ..... Sometimes less is more ......
Here in the UK tea bags are a specialism. We have flat teabags, pyramid teabags, plastic free teabags, silk teabags, teabags individually wrapped and sealed, tea bags with strings attached, tea bags in foil and that is just the ones I can think of. I am not sure there is any difference but it makes you think you are a connoisseur and persuades you to pay more for the fancy ones.
I just went to our local thrift store bought grandkids spring clothes for $1.50...best part is I entered the stores anniversary drawing and won a 50 inch smart TV....you never know
I had a big potted plant that would make chittering sounds from time to time. Drove my cats crazy, they'd stare at it intently when it was making that sound. Had to be water moving through the roots or soil.
Goodwill Outlet stores have deep tables where they sell things that didn't sell at the regular store. They still have tags on them. I have shopped at two different ones. They are awesome. Yes, the clothes, etc. are sold by the pound.
Thanks for the giggles, tips & tricks! Love my tea & loose leaf definitely does taste better than teabags! Mike, I hope & pray that you recover swiftly & that your knee surgery is really successful! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
This was a great video, loved the jokes too. Prayers for Mike for a speedy recovery. Hope you ladies do a video on common sense. So many come out of college with that piece of paper and they don't have a lick of common sense. Y'all have a Blessed day.
I got a lay-z-boy recliner for $40 at a garage sale. We bought a matching recliner and it was $1500! We now have matching recliners that would have been $3000 for $1540.
In Maine when the ground would start to thaw in early Spring. The ground would snap and pop as the ice in the ground water would crack and thaw. I bet the ground water it doing that, and its releasing pockets of air and then the water is moving in and out of the crack.
I have 7 years experience as a Property Manager. Trust me I know bed bugs. If you bomb anything it works, but you need to prep properly. For a couch, take it apart. Take the covers off the cushions. If you bomb clothes and shoes make sure they are set out loosely. Basically prep any items with the mind set that the smoke or heat has to be able to penetrate cracks and crevasses.
Their admins have decided that Goodwill needs to charge more because? They want to donate more profit to the “needy”. (My BFF’s sister-in-law is one of Goodwill’s admins…in a city of 500,000.) Not defending; just explaining.
I was an RA and had to stay in the dorm until everyone was moved out. I was able to get cleaning supplies, paper products laundry detergent etc that kids just left!!! The stuff lasted me a year! The clothes and linens that kids left behind was shameful
I wish for an all bulk store. Bring your own containers, get the tare weight on them before shopping OR buy containers for your purchases - everything, including laundry detergent. I believe retailers would save $$$ on merchandising and shipping costs and those savings could be passed on to the consumer. If there is such a place please let me know - I will travel to shop there.
Hope Mike’s surgery went well and is mending well. Love, love, love all your videos. Got my husband hooked on watching. We have always been on a low income because of our chosen professions and then me being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and on disability. We have bought both cookbooks 1 & 2. Saving so much money. We will be moving to Florida to be closer to our disabled son and furnishing our new home by thirsting and garage saling. We have friends who have done this and have very nice things. You just have to be diligent.
A reaction channel would be awesome and I think it would blow up! People need to know they're not alone in finding all this crazy making. Praying you will do it! Or, just implement the same idea as a series on your channel. 💙💥👍
We have a black friday store..one of those amazon boxes stores. They throw it all on tables and u dig. But, fior $7 each we got a $35 bottlevof olive oil , a $59 iron wood grate, a $30 first aid kit, and more. Takes a whike to dig thru and some boxes u have no clue whats in it but u take it to the back and they open it etc. Got some great gifts for $5 too.!
Made your mashed potatoes with a tablespoon of Sugar for first time and they were awesome. My hubby and son loved them. Sugar in potatoes , who would have thunk . Ty Ladies.
Our LOCAL bin store doesn't have a lot of "good stuff", but the bin store 40 minutes away has AMAZING things!!! A lot of people buy these things cheap and then sell the items on Facebook sales sites and double their money!
I won't buy rugs- cat pee. you are my kind of shoppers. I keep running lists of colors I need to go with certain outfits. Know sale dates. I hardly buy anything new. I miss the old fashion rummage sales- I never minded digging through things. Bring your own little flash light - sometimes there is poor light- this helps.
If unsure, spray any wooden furniture and set outside. The better thrift stores clean and spray their stores. But I had a church friend give me a ship wooden shelf that gave me a German roach infestation. Once you get the tiny roaches, they seek heat and moisture. They will BREED rapidly inside of water heaters, refrigerators, and stoves. They got into the clock panel, and could be seen by the drove blocking the digital numbers, UGH! Long story short, I now have long term roach contract. They have stopped breeding, but I haven't replaced all the appliances where they died. Just BE CAREFUL!
The problem I found with the bin store near me is the pounds… I thought the total would be $15 but ended up being 30 and not worth it since I didn’t even get 30 clothing items
Missed the live. 😢 My cookbooks arrived yesterday!!! I was so excited!!! I stopped what I was doing and started reading. I love them both!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I am very tiny. And single and kids are grown up and on their own. Do you have any tips on cooking for one person to save money.??? It's so hard because I eat so little at a time. I only weight 82 pounds. Do you have any suggestions because I waste so much food . And cooking for one is so hard. And I do live in Wichita Ks.😢😢
I love thrift stores my daughter found a wrestling shirt for 3 dollars. She wants to sell some people are selling it for 300 dollars on ebay, She won't sell it for that much. Blessings
There is no way on God's green Earth I would try on clothes at a garage sale or a thrift store. If I'm only paying a few dollars for it, I will get it, & if it doesn't fit I will give it away or resell it. Oh, the thought is making my skin crawl. 🥺
Lol! Your opening statement about pros...well I'm pro-er than you! 😂😂😂 See my comment about my Excalibur dehydrator on your other thrift shopping video. On a serious note, I love your content and I know so many people have been helped by your advice. I'm one of those people.
You said on your video the other day, you said you have never bought anything on Amazon, your mom said she did buy some stuff on line from wal-mart. To day you said you returrn to Amazon goes back to the Amazo bin to the bin store. Could you please carify ....

I wear my running shorts and a tank top when I go to thrifty. one time dressing room full so I just threw clothes on top of my exercise clothes. And some old bitty (not talking about age I’m 57) complained that it was immodest for me to try clothes on top of my clothes. Oy vey.
Exactly Tawra, was going to say it then u said it. Only a kilt if u are a man. Underwear optional . Lol . Don’t even get me started on sports bra man. Oy vey.

Yes we miss you Mike all 3 of you are awesome ‼️
If i come home with a thrift store 'miss', I tell myself I made a donation with what I paid for the item. Makes me feel better.
Exactly. Same with prepped food shortly before expiration.
I hope Mike gets well soon!

I LOVE bin stores. They have some treasures buried amongst the junk!

I'm with you girl...... I've boycotting Nike and I don't like anyways Bud or any of their products.
Our Goodwill here charges more for jean's than Walmart, same brand.
They've gotten nuts

TETLY TEA ( sp? Tetley) is my favorite black tea. I HATE Lipton tea but love Tetly and LUZIANNE TEA‼️
I take advantage of the senior discount even if I'm not 65. Yet....

I was making 35 cents an hour in 1963-65 working in a very nice office....5 loaves of bread for $1.00 on sale!
Is Mike’s brilliant idea a open window area from the Kitchen to the Dining Room with a bar/counter ?
In Northern California our wage went up but now they charge 10-20% add surcharge. Wages going up plus insurance on eating out.
Hang in there Mike!! U will survive!! Praying for you!!
Oh my gosh I just had knee surgery. I really feel your pain! My hubby has been an outstanding helper! I’m improving, you will to. I wish you the best.
Chemicals maybe 🤔 wierd stuff
