- the amazing Swedish mezzo-soprano Ann Hallenberg sings an operatic aria: 'Amor, dover, rispetto' - written specifically for the legendary vocal talent of the famous 18th-century soprano castrato singer Carlo Broschi better known by stage pseudonym 'Farinelli' (1705 1782) composed by Franceso Maria Veracini (1690-1768), a most techically demanding virtuosic bravura for both singer & orchestra, this piece is derived from the composer Veracini's first major opera 'Adriano in Siria'. The composition was based on Pietro Metastasio's libretto (Angelo Cori's adaptation), and the premiere took place at London's King's Theatre, Haymarket on the 25th of November 1735. This recording is from a live performance on 18th of January 2014 at the Vienna Konzerthaus accompanied by the splendid historically informed playing of the ensemble Europa Galante conducted by it's founding conductor Fabio Biondi, who worked on the score along with specialist historical musicologist Holger Schmitt-Hallenberg. Carlo Broschi would be very proud of you Ms. Ann Hallenberg!
Ann Hallenberg is one of the few singers, that in this repertoire can perform with passion and feeling, and yet maintain the musicality and precision of the composers melodic line, without (like some singers) stretching it out of recognition.
Well done Ann.

Realmente hay que tener unos pulmones y un control de la respiración portentosos porque las frases son larguísimas. Y esos saltos de octava....
Un'ugola incredibile, un vero usignolo. Qualunque compositore sarebbe fiero di essere cantato da lei.
BRAVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

amazing! I love the countertenor voice but I think ladies can sing this music better, Mrs Hallenberg here shows why.
