As someone living in Ghana, I can say that a war is not a thrilling prospect, however it seems unlikely
Do not underestimate the stupidity of our leaders. Especially the Nigerian guy who is hell bent on pleasing his western overlords.
Well that’s good to hear at least
Well,in a few months Ghana will also fall into a military rule as well. Fun times ahead.
Praying it doesn't. Ghana is so cool, never been but from what I've read, it's great
@@jaemate21 Ghana won't! The indicators by which a coup is popular among people are absent in Ghana. The current sweep of the coup in the subregion is a proxy towards France and the West who have held on to the nation's natural resources and rendered them poor. Ghana is in no such position.
The Nigerian senate has already declined the war by the president of Nigeria and Nigeria is the strongest in the region and most influential. So its highly unlikely
Nigeria launching a cross border war against Niger will create nothing short of an embarrassment the way Ukraine embarrassed Russia! Despite its large population and size the Nigerian armed forces have been systematically defunded and underdeveloped due to extreme corruption, incompetence and weakness in the face of foreign interests. They failed against Boko Haram, the failed against Cameron during border skirmishes. Soldiers haven’t been paid in months and are still fielding Soviet era weaponry! Nigerian generals are overweight whilst their Soildiers lack morale and are unsupported!
In that case you're probably right.

At least this time the world is at least seeing African wars as something to be worried about.

Because they are financing the coup
Technology is great, isn't it?
@@HallowedKhaos91The threat of losing resources because coups kicking them out of Africa is terrifying. If ecowas kicked everyone out to negotiate fair trade deals They would likely become richest nations since own 30% of worlds resources and young emerging workforce
Exactly! Grew up watching Berlin Wall fall and always Jewish conflict with Palestine.
Maybe Ecowas members are also determined to stop the string of coups in the region before they are next? The other military regimes were so quick in supporting the one in Niger that it seems to me like cooperation in preparation of the coup is a possibility and Ecowas can’t continue to suspend members for ever at some point that would effectively end the whole organization
Maybe if Ecowas had intervine in the corruption between France and their puppet president, than it would've have happened. How can a country be so rich yet 80% of the citizens done have the bare minimum? Y'all not ready for that conversation
Yeah containment looks nessisary.
That's what pretty much happened during Napoleonic era, if you want to stop revolution from spreading. Strangely, this is the first time ecowas threathen to intervene militarily, even though there are 3 coups before already
So invading sovereign country aka war is for the better eh...Btw it's not just super wrong on many levels but it will work in the junta favor, nothing can unite the nation under any leadership better than foreign invasion.
Mind you, most of the ECOWAS nations pledging to send military have illegitimate presidents themselves. They’re just scared the same thing could happen to them. Mind you, this whole fiasco isn’t about democracy, it’s about helping the puppet masters rule from behind the scenes. We Africans know what it is to lead empty-headed puppet politicians.

Western media is not a reliable source of info😅
didn't he do that?
Russian flags waved by insurgents seem to speak highly of the side they are on. Anyway. The number of Wagner troops in other African countries.

Russia and China have the same "interest" in African nations, which is why this coup happened and why China keeps giving tremendously large loans to African nations so when they default China owns something new in Africa
Two comments: 1. What is your source of information that states Benin, Cote D' Ivor, and Senegal has "offered to commit troops" for Niger? I can't find any other reporting that says this. 2. I think your analysis is accurate that insurgents will come out of this as the winner. Great video, concise, and well spoken. I will continue to watch your channel.
You first comment is spot on. There has been no news of any country offering to commit troops for invasion.
It’s called fear mongering
They tend to get a lot of their reporting on Africa wrong.
I think the main reason why he is saying that is because it’s those countries who are likely to fight alongside with the west.
@@bbounceab5816 If you understand french, I can send you link of Senegal and Ivory Coast pledging to send troops. Benin called for dialog.
Mali and Burkina Faso can barely fight local extremist groups. I doubt they could help much at all in a full war.
Nigeria has the EXACT same problem. They are losing badly. Nigeria is weak and ripe to be taken over. They have SERIOUS problems. The current president is illegitimate. At least half the population thinks so. A coup is coming for him as well. 😊😊

According to this report this conflict is more about regional powers and jihadists and less about France interest while ecowas is a French led institution and Niger provides a quarter of French uranium and Russia and China have strong interests in the region as well
In no way is CEDEAO French-led, it’s Nigerian-led. The CFA franc is not a control tool AT ALL but keyboard warriors have no clue. And uranium is found in many countries besides Niger.
It's a France invasión. Again...

Yes, Wiley inaccurate. The writers of this video have just ran this entire thing through a pro-west propaganda filter.
if ECOWAS emerges as a stabilizing force in Africa that, at least, would be an extremelly positive development out of all of this as what Africa needs is native stabilizing force and not to rely on the west or Russia or anyone else to enforce order and borders.
Ecowas is a French colonial tool designed to enslave west African populations
They are dependent on American and European countries for weapons
War will only destroy the economic possibilities
They aren’t even handling boko haram, shit some government officials are members. There needs to be major leadership changes for what you want to happen
It only will mean that France & USA will still have free reign over Africa, in particular West Africa. Ecowas should stand with African countries being ravaged by the west.
No, these types of interwoven alliances have proven to be very destructive in Africa and Europe. Without the threat of total destruction namely with nukes the same pattern of the first and second congo war will repeat and pull everyone into a big war like how Europe went into world war 1. So what I'm saying is that Russia and the US should distribute some of their nukes to Africa, no one would dare start a war if they can get vaporised in an instant.
It is extremely disappointing that you wouldn't mention France's financial grip on these countries which is obviously the driving factor for these upheavals.

How on earth can you do this beautiful piece without mentioning the reason why France and US are concerned which is the vast amount of Uranium deposits in Niger.
Seriously the main reason for everything that is happening to them resources, they never had true control of their nation to begin with.
Uranium that Niger would rather keep, instead of selling, to power its cold fusion stations in their great city of Wakanda.
Uranium is everywhere. You dont need Uranium from Niger. Uranium is 40x more common than Silver. There are mines in Canada and America that had ore in it containing 80% pure Uranium. And they werent economical to keep running.

We should all shake hands instead of fight
That's your primary goal? While the West suck you dry of resources? Lol 😂 cool cool
I am curious to get a more local view on things. I realize it is likely a hassle, but would you mind expanding on what things you view as tending to be the source of these conflicts? What are the main issues getting in the way of peace? What would a peace plan look like? I also of course realize that this is an extremely varied topic. Feel free to pick any big individual issues. You don't need to write a thesis on the future of the entire planet.
It really feels like the world is poised for another major conflict. I'm not sure if it would be a hot war like WW2 or a cold one like the Cold War, but there seems to be a lot of international problems coming to a head. I could easily see the war in Ukraine impacting African stability, what with Russia preventing food to Africa. Could this turn into a bigger conflict?
When u instigate war with ur weapons u will become a part of war a wise man once said this second
Climate change/ever present resource scarcity; the new information age, and routine imperial ambitions. The rest of the world has long recovered from the effects of WWII, and third world style dictatorships are now increasing. Every tribe wants a seat the table; until they get enough seats, and then they want they entire table. Stand for your table. Don't let it be taken over through fairy tale idealism. War is generally the result of physical laws present within biological systems that need to be reconciled.
This isn't exactly new. When World War 1 happened people called it "The War to End All Wars". They thought that nothing like it would happen again. Just around 30 years later, WW2 erupted proving them wrong.
While the UN managed to usher in a mostly global peace for almost 100 years, the human propensity for violence and conflict still rears its ugly head. It's saddening really.
the USA and China are already kinda in a cold war, with both sides poking each other and china trying to replace the USA as the dominant global power. things are obviously heating up more and more in europe and it all just feels like 1 mistake made by any of these countries could throw us all into nuclear war
It's not a matter of if but when.
The First test for the AU. Please solve this without the help of China, Russia, or the West.
This is not a problem for any African country. The military coup is a plus for neighbouring countries as the military are not as corrupt as the politicians that are stealing all their resources. The ECOWAS and AU are only doing a favour for France and US who are more interested in the large Uranium deposits in Niger.

As a Ghanaian I personally do not think a full on inter state conflict will occur. West African governments while corrupt and rather dull at times understand well the cost of war. Nigeria and Ghana supply large amounts of power to Niger, Burkina Faso, and Guinea. A war will only lead to the embarrassment of West Africa as a region, new instability in the region (already happening with the terrorist groups), and an insane amount of bloodshed. Also, no matter how much power the juntas have, once the terrorist groups start blowing up schools, churches and shooting up markets, they'll realize they're way over their heads. Mali and Burkina Faso can barely handle the terrorist groups as is, how the hell are they gonna handle a modernizing and western funded ECOWAS front??? Ofc I could be wrong and if I am, I am kind of excited to help my country in a war. Especially against the Wagner group. Russia and China may have to leave West Africa by force it is beginning to seem.
I’m Ghanaian American but I pray that God will bring unity to ECOWAS
I disagree, Russia & Africa have always been connected or allied with Africa, as is Cuba, Syria & others. EOCOWAS is a byproduct of the West 'appearing' to stay out of Africa's affairs - THEY CREATED IT. They say 'see this is all Africa & now Africans through ECOWAS is asking for help - ask yourself why France is so invested. It's an entity for Africans but controlled by Western colonizers. Africa needs heros and I, an American, can see a hard foght victory over the West & stronger ties with countries who've always backed them is a good thing but not you, someone in or from the region? Colonialism is a mind fcuk isn't it? And the people stay stupid. Grab a few episodes from BreakThrough News, you'll see a lot of things differently if you're open to learning and not completely mentally.
The voice of a brainwashed African. Nigeria has been exploited by the West for decades because of its oil,Ghana as well as other west African countries. Well some have the balls to fight back, apparently. I'm sorry that you're not one of them, but Niger is.
PaxMagna, you obviously a genius! You need to work for our government as an expert witness to what is really going on in Africa. I like your attitude, that you could be wrong, because NOBODY CAN SAY WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IN CENTRAL AFRICA. Sadly, human nature and history clearly indicate that US interests in Africa will always be contested by Russia and China or their proxies. And I don't think any of the major players (even us!) care about genocide in Africa (or China and Russia). Clinton could have made a statement in his reign, but probably saved no innocent women and children in the final analysis. Now I personally like Bill, but, wtf good are tits on a bull? If we don't stand up for the downtrodden in any region of the world, we should get the fuck out regardless of the economic damage.
The perfect example is Iran. The ordinary people don't want war with Iraq, the US, or anybody else in the region. But, they lack resolve change their own government. In reality, Iran's mullahs already control the Straits of Hormuz because it takes the entire fleet to guard it. If you factor that into the cost of crude, it would be cheaper to pay Iran whatever they thought it was worth. Pull the fleet back to clearly open international limits and stay out of coastal conflicts that are clearly regional. The US can and should openly support whatever faction they want with rhetoric, but anything else contributes to instability and a bad international reputation.
And let's not forget that it's the super rich ONLY, that benefit from US armed intervention in the world. Cheer all you want the good ole USA, but you're an idiot cause you're putting all that money into the hands of the top 1% of the population who will rat-hole the money offshore or on private enclaves. You might get a little work pouring concrete for their tennis courts or pill boxes, but after the cement dries, you're otta there! Be careful what you wish for.
Well I wish you, your people and country the best. I am not sure if the West should help. As per the neo-colonialism problem. But if people want our help there they should get it
As a West African and Nigerian, I can categorically tell you, that while we are tribalistic and may fight amongst ourselves, we will never fight for a western cause.

Indeed, however if Niger helps Boko Haram is very likely that Nigerians joins and fights Niger, which might end into a bigger war. The issue? Nigeria has BIG advantage against their neighbours. And despite the coast ones are safe due alliances, the dictatorial ones (Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger) are likely to lose and even worse, lose territory.
Also making Nigeria bigger would ease the issue of their population grow.

Of course, the real question should be is peace even a reasonable thing to hope for in an area filled with corrupt, violent countries and where tribalism is by far more important than any other concerns
There won’t be any peace anywhere with the current Biden administration
You mean in an area where dictators have been installed by the west and outside military forces have set bases up to defend their dictators. Africa will find peace when it removes outside parasites sucking its resources
Should ask Europeans if peace is possible. Ukraine and Russia are getting along nicely.
@@yoboiboy4182 Europe would be so peaceful if we just let Russia do whatever it wants whenever it wants
@@WoahJustTakeItEasyMan it's NATO that had been encroaching on agreements and taking actions that have led to this conflict over the last couple decades. Russia just finally decided they had to respond. None of ths would've happened without the Western supported coup in Ukraine in 2014 which instated a government that supported shelling of cities within their own borders and naziism.
I don't support war, nor Russia, but the West/NATO are responsible. Not to mention the West undermining peace agreements last March/April that would've resolved this whole thing quickly, namely Boris Johnson.
Ah yes the prelude to the West African War. Where the French shadow empire fought the emerging Wagner shadow empire for regional dominance.

It’s worth mentioning that yesterday the Islamic state intercepted and attacked a convoy sent by Mali transporting weapons and armoured vehicles intended for Niger’s junta. IS has taken the equipment. Making Burkina Faso hesitant to intervene.

These ex french colonies are always having coups. It's very odd
That's not true, they are some of the most stable. But Russia is going after them like a dog on heat. Some have fallen due to Russia
Not at all, this coup is the result of french economic exploitation of the country. It is very reasonable for the people of former french colonies to want independence.

Nonsense. Africa has been in a state of chaos since the 40s and Libya is just another crater in the road. Gaddafi was just another eccentric dictators and he was bound to fall by the sword, just like every other eccentric dictator
It should not be forgotten that Nigeria's new President would also view war as a factor to promote his own domestic position. His legitimacy is heavily under question, especially with regards to his criminal records. Him pushing a war would - like most dersnged politicians - be a tool to drum up domestic support.
It is heartwarming that Nigerian people and their Senate saw through this prank and rejected his application to mobilise the army.

Your neglect of French meddling in the Sahel region and the ousted President being seen as a puppet for the West/France is conspicuous. This contextualises the coup massively.

I am not sure. Because France is in the EU. And it would not help our reputation. And even if you get something cheap doesn't mean it is expensive in the end, if you destroy good deals in the future.
France could very easily just search for another supplier for Uranium. There's probably a few reasons off the top of my head why France chose Niger to source their Uranium from. The companies doing all the mining in Niger are French, certainly the locals don't have the capacity to, if not the ability to compete, yet the resource isn't exactly scarce in the nation. That likely means though France pays dirt money, Niger gets money from an industry they've no way of tapping into. Besides that, France does give substantial economic aid to Africa every year, if I recall in 2021 alone they gave Niger 100 million Euro. As well, Niger is decently close to France culturally - more-so than France is to say, Nigeria.
I personally support French intervention, in spite of the racist francophobic fervour the coupists have seemingly successfully spread worldwide. France gave 100 million Euro in foreign aid to Niger for the year 2020; though insignificant for France, it is quite significant for Niger's paltry economy. I really cannot see how ceasing the trade of uranium in Niger could benefit the people of Niger.
France needs to clean up France FIRST.
Hopefully this war can bring about a United West African Union.
