Interested to know if the remote kept on working. Generally the best glue for silicone items is silicone adhesive. I've repaired many remotes over the last 7 years using the pad kit bought from Aliexpress and silicone is the one adhesive that lasts. CA tends to dry hard and is therefore not good on silicone. It provides an initial bond but then flakes off.
Thanks. I didn't even know that you can buy those pads. I was planning to implement 3d printed button and put something conductive below it. But this would be much better solution. Thanks, I'll buy these when next encounter worn remote.
I use tin foil on my remotes, it works just as well. If your fixing lots of remotes then your method makes sense, but for a one off tin foil is the way to go 🙂
@@RustyNipples-Jr if your remote buttons are silicone, use a small dab of silicone sealant, it's the only thing that will stick to silicone. My buttons are rubber so it's not an issue with super glue.
@@RustyNipples-Jr For the pads can try gently wiping them on plain piece of paper. Conductive coating is VERY thin. If it does work this trick may only work once.
Tha k you for this pointer.. In the past I have used the metal disks (used inside the simple pcb mounted switches) and glued on the pcb itself as a fix. I didn't know you can buy the conductive patches.
Very nice! I have a keypad with two buttons not working but the track/trace/pad on the PCB seems to conduct badly. The track/trace/pad on the PCB it's color is lighter than the other working ones. Is there a way to fix it?
i watched it coz i wana fiz my remote control 2moro but c i might need a multi meter as well i still need cleaning products also & maybe some spear parts for things i fix but once i know how to fix basic stuff im get advanced with type of remotes im make hoping i can open alot of doors & do other random stuff with it setting alarms off with it & more lol repairs looks ok to put time into i cant keep going like this buying to much but yeah nice video easy to follow
where did you bought the pad? last week Im repairing my failed car climate console button and couldnt find the replacement ended up gluing aluminium foil on the pad dont know how long it will last
Question for you, in this example, is it likly that when trying to use the remote none of the buttons work? Or would it be just the one button causing problem? My remote (the same as in video) has just stopped working.
If non button don't work then i start checking for power issue, check and clean the contacts on battery, try to measure if you got any voltage on pcb... If some button not working it's a button problem, but surly not if noone doesn't work.
@@gordonemery6949 I did the same and guess what? It still doesn't work... :( The led was broken and the new one now works (tested with multimeter), but the remote still doesn't activate it. There must be something else wrong. Power supply also makes it through into the board, tested it. I tried button pads from another remote, no luck either. The pads from the broken one work on another remote though.
Sure it should work perfectly, i didn't want to demage working buttons but its a great idea because there are just no way for some bittons to be used anytime 😀

Just ordered a small box of replacement pads from Amazon - thanks for the tip!
Me too
Thank you. I followed the same cleaning steps and the idea worked. You are following from Dubai

Mine is also having this problem. If you have found any solution please let me know. Thanks

Great, i didn't try that, thanks for info,
@@RustyNipples-Jr rubber cyanoacrylate, or black super glue is best, but any super glue will do 👍🏻

@@RustyNipples-Jr T-7000 seems to work best. It's what's used for phone repair. CA glue doesn't bond well to silicone.

Thank you. I think I will use a pencil to draw a circle on a bits of paper, then paste it to the button pads, as your method.
Well done! that was a little surgery :) Is a much better solution than buying any weird universal remote
I fix High End Audio, most of the times remotes cost over Us$400 dollars.
Costumers pay Us$100 dollars or more for fix it with a big smile.

Professional technitian.👍
Faaar from that but thanks anyway.
If multiple buttons are not working, you need to check ic pins for blue corrosion. It can short the circuit.

I just repaired mine using superglue and kitchen foil. It did the trick.
❤ very nice information
Thanks, well explained thorough video. Is that cyanoacrylate glue (superglue) ?

but yeah nice video easy to follow
can you use other conductive material, like conductive metal tape? or does it have to be conductive rubber pads?
I use tin foil (video on my channel 😉) it works just as well.
Use an old unused remote controller as spare pads. Mine worked without problems :)
Hello, can you please confirm the type of glue that you used. Thank you.
It is ca, cianokol glue, super glue, one second glue...

There is a link to ebay under the video, search ebay for button pad kit
@@TinC33 thanks mate
que pegamento usas para esa silicona?
El usó Loctite super attak, pero puedes usar cualquier cianoacrilato.
Thanks! Appreciated!
very good info, TY if i can fix my button issue i can save about 1600$ :)

Instead of buying new button can you take out one of the less used buttons and replace the worn button with the less used ? Gonna try it that way.

How do I stop my tv from saying change batteries when I just put in new batteries
what kind of glue did you use ? i heard C A glue ... is that right ?
Yes but rubber glue is better, in any case Sand a bit surface before
