I believe Fried beat Tom very handily at Junior Nationals. In this match, you had a blue chip recruit going against a guy who didn't get much attention from major programs, coming out of HS. I watched the Brands bros drill with Barry Davis, and I could see they had the drive it takes to win gold.

He fed one of fried's legs to his left leg, and transferred hands on the other, ending his opponent's resistance to the takedown.
