It's great, it numbs your mouth and tastes like rotten cheese. Yum!
They are used to it. Kinda like them people who have street food and it will be like roaches and scorpions. They develop a taste for it and it becomes delicious to them. Kind of like if you get locked up and your first few days the look and smell of the jail food will make you not wanna eat but then hunger sets in and after a couple weeks jail food dont taste so bad.
Sharp cheese isn't rotten. The taste is just too strong for you
So many things are an acquired taste. The most shocking one for me is that Europeans and gay Americans say Hershey chocolate tastes like vomit.
@@acanthafiore Im a american and think hersheys taste like vomit

I grew up eating and drinking noni. It is medicinal in Polynesian culture. When you have a stomach ache, take a bite and it gives relief.
@@farhiaadeed2227 and god gave us fruits
i guess it numbs the pain?
@@farhiaadeed2227 nope you were just unfortunate to be raised in a culture that cares about whether a god exists or not. News flash if god exists and he’s all knowing he will judge your heart regardless what you believe even if you never learned about him. And if he doesn’t exist spend your one life enjoying and making yourself/others happy.
Not everyone is raised to be religious like you and I’d argue if you weren’t brought up or raised like that, you wouldn’t willingly choose it for yourself. You’d choose better.
@@nurimahrasidz271 It soothes digestive upset and ulcers. Almost like nature's tums is how I describe it. Polynesians have been using this for hundreds of years. We also use it on our skin when crushed down to a fine paste. It heals acne and other skin ailments.
I have seen the fruit before BUT I have never tried it. Maybe my Parents' and Grandparents' generations are more familiar before Singapore was develop. We used to have fruit trees like pink guava or mangoes along the road or parks But not anymore.

We don’t really eat Noni in Jamaica, it’s just used as medicine. Let me explain. So we hang it outside in the sun for some time in a plastic bag. We wait until it decomposes. The bags are normally doubled and acts as a filter system. So the first bag holds the fruit and the second catches all that juice, and that’s the medicine. It smells absolutely nasty. And it feels awful if u accidentally step on one. Feels like a huge nasty pile of poop. Lol I hate it
Thanks for sharing that was insightful. We use to have to have a spoonful of cod liver oil as kids, but this noni, especially the fermented juice could be worse, but I love blue cheese and durian...
UP! 🇯🇲
Plastic leaching into fruit. Nice.
@@gagaface26 The plastic bag is a membrane not something that dissolves.
@@snuscaboose1942 it’s been shown in numerous studies microplatics dissolve with very little heat. I’m sure the fruit is permeable
In Indonesia we eat this fruit as a variety of medicines. If foreigners say that durian smells bad, that's still the medium level, if you want to try this fruit, that's the hard level.
So you saying noni is worst than Dorian?
@@wilbo417 Yea absolutely that s why noni called vomit fruit
@@memeaqua7674 now I think I can try Dorian, I was always afraid from other people’s descriptions of it.
Im a Canadian expat in Indonesia and ai can say durian is definitely an acquired taste. I absolutely hated it initially… It took me about 4-5 years of being exposed to it and tasting it on different occasions, but now - I love it! One of my favorite treats actually, if you can believe it. Never tried Nonni, will definitely give it a shot now that I’ve passed Level Durian 😂
After that, try also pure Tongkat Ali...

These grew at a waterpark I used to go to as a kid and everyone walking around would step on the fallen fruit with their wet feet and they'd would rot in the hot sun. The smell of standing in line for the waterslide on a hot summer day still haunts me to this day
That sounds horrifying 😭

Noni is used as medicine in Jamaica. It's usually left to ferment to get a dark liquid.
When its fresh it tastes like outdated camambert cheese, i wonder what it tastes like after its fermented...
@@letsberational305 The fermented noni drink has an astringent taste. It is strong, bitter with a slight sour undertone.

@@AwesomeDude272 The tree is scentless. But they produce fruits all year long. So its always smelly around it. No reason not to love it when it's free.
Yeah, when it's free it usually tastes better, lol! When you have to pay for it, then you have to decide if you really want it or not (and consider how much money you got) Then, if you buy it and especially if it was expensive, you're evaluating if you got your money's worth or not. And when you're a tourist and they know it, there's a good chance they're going to try to rip you off by jacking up the price, thinking you got a lot of money and they can take advantage of you. Then you have to do your best to haggle the price down. All of that obviously affects the experience, how much you'll enjoy the fruit. This guy in the video, on the other hand, seems to run around and enjoy whatever he finds for free. Pretty cool!😁👍
They are so good for you! My mom is from PR and makes a juice from it for good health!

Noni fruit is recognized for its antioxidants, and some specialists say that if you add noni to your diet, you will likely not have any diseases in your entire life spam. Noni fruit components like anthraquinone, damnacanthal and the trace element selenium have demonstrated the ability to STOP cancer growth, and induce the body to create crazy amounts of white cells, this fruit is simply crazy.
This is... pretty unusual. Even in places where this is consumed, people don't normally eat the ripe fruit straight up for fun. Most of the time this plant is used medicinally, and when it is eaten for the taste, you're probably either eating the unripe fruit or the leaves. Enjoying eating this plant straight up like this guy is actually not typical.

In areas where Noni isn't found they often advertise products that supposedly contain that medicinal fruit in supplement form, usually as a juice or pills/tablets. The problem is, you can't know for sure how much actual noni is in it (regardless of what the label says) and if it's still good, for the purpose you're buying it for. Natural products can lose potency over time, too. Add to that the cost. Whenever they refer to something as a "miracle whatever", as is the case with alleged Noni products, it's usually not going to be cheap, more than likely going to get ripped off. Be careful! Try to find the actual whole fruit, if you can.
