Great watch Lester, really enjoyable. For me you’re absolutely right to be wanting to develop your own style and it’s good to see some of the new stuff you’re trying….keep it up. Also, if I may say…you are probably a better golfer than most people viewing your videos. Don’t put yourself down, you have a lot to offer in the instructional sense. For those of us that aren’t so good it’s really useful to see/hear how a good player approaches a particular shot and to understand what you are trying to do…..doesn’t matter if it comes off or not…..we know plenty about that! Hearing and seeing the process is very useful. Keep it going mate 👍

Hey Bernie, good vlog. You mentioned the 'no intro, straight in' style may be not to everyone's taste, but honestly I find it refreshing. Once you are a few mins in there's always an opportunity to mention where you are playing, what you are doing etc.
I think RUclips golf needs a shake up, it's definitely very formulaic currently, so keep doing what you feel is right and you'll find your audience.

Really enjoyed this "different" vlog Bernie - some of the content is streets ahead of the way some of RUclipsrs film golf.
The slow zoom from the tee is perfect to show us how the hole plays - really like this.
Graphics showing club, distance, score, etc - all great to keep the viewer engaged and informed - it's often easy to lose interest if this sort of info isn't provided and you're not paying attention !
Like the 4 clubs challenge - perhaps something you can occasionally return to - see if you can beat your record.

Top effort bernie. One area i personally find dull on golf vlogs is on the greens.😢 so few long putts are made and they often yap on for ages about what the putt is going to do and miss 95% of them. Good luck
Yeah I get that with the putting David. I guess it’s easier sometimes to leave the camera in the same position on the green and it seems to take forever. I’ll have a think and see if I can do something to make that area more exciting.
Love this. Just you, a few clubs and honest banter. Personally, I only carry 7 clubs. Score is the same as if I had 14. I truly wish you all the best and looking forward to your future vlogs 😊

You pretty much answered all the questions/points I'd have raised! I do like a vlog intro though. eg for this one, why you were playing with 4 clubs and the benefits etc. I know you did it later on but someone might switch wondering what it's all about.

I do remember Kevin! I’ve got a couple of ideas of how to include a few regular characters, in particular a series with Josh.
I live on a golf course and when I go out by myself I rarely remove the flagstick. Also, I usually always take a half set and still shoot the same scores as with a full set. Cheers Bernie!

Rather than an intro waffling on the first tee, I'd prefer to see an outro waffling at the clubhouse bar about how the round went. Good stuff, keep it up!
Not a bad idea Andy! I’ll certainly do that when I vlog elsewhere! I was the last one on the course (and finished on the 13th) in the dark when I filmed this 😂
Can’t imagine how many extra steps you took that round to set up the cameras! When I was a member at a course I would go out with just a few clubs at times. Now I only get about 20 rounds a year so I try to make them all count. I know you prefer lots of banter, but I enjoyed hearing your thoughts and getting a nice tour of the course in this solo round👍🏻 Going straight to the golf did catch me off guard in previous vlogs, but I like it and understand your reasoning. Great Q&A!
Thanks Tyler! I’m really at the experimental stage and trying to find a style and format that works I guess. I did find it tricky carrying clubs, two cameras and then setting them up 😂

Hi Lester, the only time I've gone out with less than my full bag is when it's very wet and carry only then I take a half set. I played once with just a 6iron and a putter in thick fog. What I found interesting was my scores were not vastly different than when I have my normal full set.
I think if i practiced enough then my scoring would be similar too John!
Nice relaxed vlog Bernie, enjoy the solo 9 hole versions, one possible thing from my marketing background for the you tube algorithm is to add Golf at the end of channel name, Lester Bernie Barnes Golf will show up much more in this niche market search than without, keep up the good work.

Hi Bernie I think it always makes a difference taking the pin out as it makes the hole bigger also if the wind is up and the pin is moving around there’s less chance of the ball bouncing out
I have seen a few bounce outs to be fair David 😂 always makes me laugh, not sure why.
Another great video Bernie, very enjoyable and also informative. As for advice going forward I would go with your personality, its quality and natural and in sales they talk of USP(Unique Selling Point etc.) your style is relaxed and a strong passion, based on a great foundation knowledge base. All that work on your own! You are doing great! Adjusting your shot based on the lie… when I don’t adjust I always hit it exactly as expected. When I do adjust for lie I always override it 😂 I have not really played with a half set before but sometimes for practice we would play a draw on all the odd holes and fades on all the evens. Can be pretty fun when the shot shape is the exact opposite of the one needed on the hole 🤣 keep up the good work Bernie 💪

Nice one mate - did you let us know which clubs you had at the beginning? I'm good with going straight into the golf, but a very short intro wouldn't go amiss.
I liked the format of today and your explanation on each shot, but you are right, the banter was (almost!) missing - thank God for the guy with the wayward shot! lol.

I loved watching you play 9 alone. I do it all the time myself some good shots some not so good. When you were talking about an intro I have to tell you I just speed past them anyway. Also when you were talking about banter I for one can do without it. Play on Barney…you are doing great.😊

A great friend of mine ‘borrowed’ a half set from the gym at Culdrose (Pinseekers or similar!). He didn’t get a full set until 18 months later, by which time he was playing off 6! If you know West Cornwall, you’ll know him, get him on the channel, he’s a star👍

It doesn't surprise me at all that your subscriber numbers are increasing at such a good rate given how much you added to the enjoyment of those of us who follow DHG plus the way this channel is already developing its own "Bernie" style. I don't know how much time you have to spend making content at the moment and how far you are able to travel but if you could invite club pros, other youtubers, etc., to challenge you to a match on their home course that would give you the opportunity to film beyond Churston from time to time. Also, Peter Finch is currently running a series where he is looking to play as many other golf youtube creators as possible during 2023, and maybe beyond. I don't know what criteria he sets but if you could get onto that list it would certainly help to raise your channel's profile.

That's my normal summer evening golf now I'm at Churston. Start at the practice ground and work round from 5 to 14. The advantage at. Teignmouth was it was two nines and there was a choice. Not finding it easy now I can't hit the ball any distance but really enjoying how you are tackling our course !
I use to do that loop a lot in the winter with my dad when we only had a couple of hours spare! It was so quiet on Sunday, surprised more don’t do it! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.

Nice one Bernie, good video mate. It's tough 3 clubs and a putter, but good to learn how to manufacture shots. For putts where I can see the hole I have to have the flag out. Any other putt I don't mind it left in. I always say to may mates I'll get the flag when I'm picking the ball out of the hole. One of these days it will happen! Haha

Can I suggest an idea for your blogs going forward Bernie. What about inviting one of your followers from time to time, to play a round with you on a blog. The mistakes they make could be a good learning point for us all. I appreciate this would possibly only involve relatively local players (50 to 100 mile radius) but on the odd occasion it might be a good to see this type of thing and it would possibly be unique compared to other RUclips sites. Only a suggestion! I appreciate the fact that you would need to have confidence in the invite that you weren’t inviting a troll for example!
I’m open to playing golf and filming with everyone Paul. Everyone that’s appeared on my channel I regularly play golf with. Issue I have currently is the cost of traveling adding to the fact I’d generally have to pay a green fee and buggies. Plus it take 3 hours for 9 holes, so would need an understanding course too. I will travel more going forward and happy to play golf and film with anyone.
@@berniebarnesgolf Hi Bernie, I was not criticising your current approach as I believe it is a good one. I can also understand the cost implications and the time elements you highlight. What I meant was, inviting someone like me for example, a 22.7 WHS golfer to one of your local courses and the game is played at your timings and availability and cost.
