  • Spark testing then disassembly and inspection the components. My mags were serviced at the Jan '21 annual and had been performing well before the engine was pulled so I wasn't expecting trouble. I think the camera shutter speed may be a factor in why sometimes no sparks appear as they checked out okay.

I appreciate this video. It shows how our aircraft parts get tested in the various shops, something most pilots never see. It also gives a better understanding of how these parts work.
    Thank you!

Very interesting! I heard about your channel through the shop (I work at PGA). I haven't been up to the accessory shop for a demo or done any work up there, so it's new to me too. Andrew up there really knows what he's doing. This video really gives you an appreciation how fast the engine is spinning as each spark happens once every two rotations of the crank! Though this was spinning faster than it would on the engine I believe...
Also I must say I appreciate your videos on the shop as my family is always asking what things are like around here but they haven't been able to come in for a tour. They got to experience a tour secondhand through your video and we are sharing it with people who ask about my work.
I'm also interested in the story of your engine through the whole process as I usually only see the engine for my part and then it's off to who knows where. I'll be keeping an eye out for your uploads!

Thanks so much for this video! Lets me know what I need to order for my slick mag (for a traveling mechanic to install) since I live where there's no shop to test my mag. My secondary coil gave up the ghost just like the first one you show.
