This man's swagger is really nice. He's very crisp, in his style. He's like dapper meets rockabilly, meets R&B, meets jazz/blues and some how he pulls it off perfect. I'm a shorter man, at 5'7", but I just stumbled upon his channel and skimmed and watched this one, and it's nice. Great video with a nice walk through, and broken down nicely. Very thorough guy.
This is great! Thanks so much! I've always wanted to have my suits altered but I didn't know what exactly to tell my tailor. This video made it all clear and simple.
Great video! I appreciate the detail you included from beginning to end. I've always been puzzled on how you can take a inexpensive suite and make it look and fit like money. Thank you for your time and your knowledge. I will definitely use this video as reference the next time I go out to purchase and get a suite altered!
Nice !I just did a fitting and it was my first time. I am just now finding this video and i'm glad i did because I followed all these steps not even knowing if i did it correctly. Turns out i did!
I've been really worried about making a fool of myself walking into a tailors and asking for alterations to some hand-me-down suits, but damn dude you got me feeling like I could run the place! Thanks man, amazing video.
I absolutely love content like this coming from you! This was spot on and you explained every step in detail. This helped a lot. Keep the vids coming. Great Job!
Norris. I’m soooo confused. No one man can sew like you. I’ve seen you bring a georgous pink suit to be altered as well. YOU can do that every bit as good or better!!! You’re incredibly
Very informative and you did a great job of explaining. I’m planning to get my fiancé’s suit tailored before our wedding and i’m nervous that I will not look as good as your came out.
Liline Robert hey and thanks for watching this video! If you follow the steps and make alterations just make sure they his comfort is it compromised b/c it will come out thru his confidence. Trust me if there’s something you don’t like after getting it tailored they can always make adjustments. I would recommend have them pin him up as much as possible to get more of a visual on what’s it going to look like after.
Darude - Sandstorm thank you sir! I’m grateful for such great feedback and really appreciate you showing interest in my work. I hope you continue following.
I agree with everything except with the jacket length. A short jacket looks weird to me and it cuts your butt in half. I would have kept the same length. Now, these are all personal style preferences...just like having the suit that tapered.
A shorter jacket is better only if the suit is skinny which is what he likes. If the jacket is long, which I don’t think it was either way, it’ll make you look like you’re wearing a skirt lol with slim fit and regular suits the jacket should always cover your rear end just enough.
THANKS BRO! That was excellent! I wish I could get a quality tailor here in Minneapolis! They seem to only be good for wedding dresses here. I won't give up though!
This is just awesome! I'd love to get my suits tailored like this. Problem is that where I live in Sweden it's really expensive to get a suit tailored. You got it fully tailored for $75, it just about covers a shortening of the sleeves on a suit jacket. If I'd like a better fit on the arm on the jacket it'l cost about $110. Fully tailored it would cost about $3-400, and a cheap suit cost about $180. Damn Sweden is expensive..
$75 for an entire suit is crazy! I took a blazer to my tailor to have the waist let out a little and to have the sleeves shortened. That alone was $98.
Where in third world LA did a tailor do all that for $75?! Those alterations would cost me at least $250 in DC. Great video tho. Make sure to keep skipping dessert and get that cardio in.
Appreciate you watching my content. The tailor show is called Maple Tailor: 1047 Maple Ave Los Angeles CA 90015 As far as tailoring cost it sounds like you’re being over charged. I get come expensive tailors when working on the jacket, but pants should be standard everywhere. $10 to 15 bucks for the waist & maybe $25 max for a pant taper. The hem depending on where you’re getting a cuff, slide split, etc. it may vary a little but shouldn’t be too far from 10 bucks.
Im enjoying binge watching your content and I need your opinion as I prepare to get my first suit tailored. My question actually pertains to the vest within the three piece. I like how you get the jacket tapered on the sides to create a curve. Im thinking of having the tailor remove the rear cinch which is there to serve the same purpose as getting the sides tapered. I really hate that feature and the buckle annoys me. Is it possible for a tailor to remove the cinch and just taper the side or is it a must to keep it on their. have you ever taken it off
I would definitely recommend wearing dress boots with the suit. The trouser length is too short my friend. Unless your going for the Urkel flood pants look.
Nice video! I'm going to keep these tips in mind as I attempt to tailor one of my husband's suits. Is it labor-intensive (for a non-professional tailor) to alter the suit jacket and vest since they are lined?
I never understood the reasoning behind not buttoning the last button, I like the bottom of my best and jacket, to lay close to me and not flare out, it feels sloppy if not buttoned; kinda like having a shirt tail half in/half out or like not heming the pants properly.
can a tailor add one of those holes in the lapel to add a lapel pin. Im not even sure what you would call that. what would I tell my tailor? or should I bring a picture
I had a suit jacket tailored and from the front it look incredible, but from the back, there are wrinkles in the material from where the suit was taken in. Any ideas or tips on how to avoid this when getting my next jacket tailored?
JT Vinson Hey, what’s up sir? Yes I would advise you to see it pinned before having the work done if you didn’t before. Pay close attention during this step because fabric will always tell you when rearranging the fit.
Enjoyed the video and the information you shared however I must take issue with a couple of things you highlighted in the tailoring of the suit jacket never would you want to button all the jacket buttons when taking in the waist this will give a distorted shape of the jacket and it simply will not lay naturally against the body also if it is necessary to shorten the length of the jacket never and I repeat never shorten it to the length of the jacket sleeves I know what you are referring to when you mention some gentlemen's jacket appear to be too long but remember suit jackets come in length sizes short, medium, and long the proper length for any suit jacket would be to able to cuff your hands making a semi fist extended by your sides grab enough material where the jacket does not fold or bunch up inside your hands and most tailors will tell you this thanks for sharing this information look forward to future videos!
Holy s*** only 75 dollars in all those alterations?! Would never happen here in the Netherlands. Can find reasonably priced suits like that, but tailoring services are very expensive here.
i cannot believe the tailoring on that suit was only $75 ! is he saying $75 for everything? pants, vest, and jacket? that's absolutely unreal. just had a pair of suit pants tapered and seat taken in just a bit .. $90+. any good recommendations for excellent and affordable tailoring in pdx, please give me a shout
I was all in until you started talking about shortening the jacket. Style etiquette would say that your jacket is already too short as typical length should go down to your knuckles or just below.
I'm a men's store owner as well a tailor for 44 yrs. This video on how men's suit should fit and look is totally impractical and the standards you display on tailoring a suit is a far reach from practacality. If anybody out there believes this guy knows what he's talking about has no idea how a suit should really fit. Even a well tailored fitted suit shouldn't look like that. My advice is not to go out and buy a cheap suit and think you can have iall those alterations done for $75.00 and think you scored a bargain. On the contrary, no decent tailkor would ever do all that work on a suit for $75.00 unless he doesn't care about making money and does it for fun. Realistically a good tailor, would charge a minimum of $200.00 and that would still be cheap. A good tailor gets at least $50-60 an hour. Thta suit would take 3 -4 hours to alter.
Hey Norris I live in LA and want to visit this tailor shop. By any chance do you know how much would it cost just for the jacket alterations exactly what you did?
NIce vid! But your jacket length isn't determined by the lenght of your sleeves 'cause everyone has different proportions. Jacket should always cover your butt.
Blvck Phvntow that’s true. I’ll give better detail on the next one. I personally haven’t come across anyone yet who’s sleeves naturally sit above their waist, but I totally understand sir! Thanks for the feedback and I appreciate you watching my work.
Cope Hargrove Yes sir. Keep in mind price will vary depending on where you go. Tailors do raise their prices if they don’t have a high volume of work coming in. If you find a good tailor it might be smart to negotiate prices on the basis of you bring him more work.
This man's swagger is really nice. He's very crisp, in his style. He's like dapper meets rockabilly, meets R&B, meets jazz/blues and some how he pulls it off perfect.

You definitely know men's style. Love your channel. I just started sewing and there are very few guys out there to be inspired by. Thank you.
By far the best video i could find. Thank you so much 👍🏼
This is great! Thanks so much! I've always wanted to have my suits altered but I didn't know what exactly to tell my tailor. This video made it all clear and simple.

Niceeeee ! Soooo glad this was in my recommended….Figured I just needed to buy thousand suits - to get the proper tailored look. Now I know 🥴
I’d never considered removing the belt loops. Good stuff, sir!
Perfect job/ style…good think u got a experienced tailer with good prices!!
An interesting advices to follow, thanks a lot for posting that video to help us to fix suits

Tomas Ma oh okay. I understand that. Thanks for watch and commenting on my page. Also let me know other videos you would like to see me make.
Yeah i agree i like my butt to be covered not exceeding the line though...it depends on the height of a person.
A shorter jacket is better only if the suit is skinny which is what he likes. If the jacket is long, which I don’t think it was either way, it’ll make you look like you’re wearing a skirt lol with slim fit and regular suits the jacket should always cover your rear end just enough.

Great video Norris! Wished could have seen the look with the suspenders!Keep coming with the great content!
Sleek Gentleman oh that would have been cool to show with the suspenders too. I’ll keep that in mind & might just do a how to where suspenders video.
THANKS BRO! That was excellent! I wish I could get a quality tailor here in Minneapolis! They seem to only be good for wedding dresses here. I won't give up though!
Great video! Deeply appreciated!
Norris you are amazing! I can see you doing great things in the near future.

John Shannon thanks for the feedback and watching my video. Most of all I appreciate the support. Salute to you sir!

Hello my friend. so what are your full suit measurements? Before you get everything tailored...what do you buy as a start?
Im enjoying binge watching your content and I need your opinion as I prepare to get my first suit tailored. My question actually pertains to the vest within the three piece. Very detailed vid. Great job!
That is a good price for a suit. Where did you purchase your suit?
Thanks for this 🙏🏾
Awesome video! Where did you buy your suit? I dig it, it was nice even before the alterations but the alterations made it even better
Jordan Sparte thanks. I got it from a generic suit show in downtown LA. Alteration cost is in the video. I believe it was a total of $75.00.
I would definitely recommend wearing dress boots with the suit. The trouser length is too short my friend. Unless your going for the Urkel flood pants look.
Defiantly subbing thanks bro
Nice video! I'm going to keep these tips in mind as I attempt to tailor one of my husband's suits. Is it labor-intensive (for a non-professional tailor) to alter the suit jacket and vest since they are lined?
Darlena Slate yes that are pretty intensive so I would recommend practicing on thrifted pieces before working on nice garments.
Can the shoulder of the suit be tailored just a lil bit?
I never understood the reasoning behind not buttoning the last button, I like the bottom of my best and jacket, to lay close to me and not flare out, it feels sloppy if not buttoned; kinda like having a shirt tail half in/half out or like not heming the pants properly.
probably should've kept the jacket length, you want to keep that 1:1 ratio with your pants
Great vid, like always!!!
sweetwater718 thanks for watching and commenting. Also feel free to recommend content you would like to see next.
Great job
Impressive.
can a tailor add one of those holes in the lapel to add a lapel pin. Im not even sure what you would call that. what would I tell my tailor? or should I bring a picture

Daymn idk if they have a tailored shop in Sacramento.
Great tailoring.Amazing price.Good job bro.
why do they pinch the sleeves of the jacket away from the seam?
Holy s*** only 75 dollars in all those alterations?! Would never happen here in the Netherlands. Can find reasonably priced suits like that, but tailoring services are very expensive here.

I live in LA, where do you get your suits tailored?
Sonny Dominguez I mentioned in the video that I get all my alterations done at Maple Tailor in Downtown LA. (1047 Maple Ave
Los Angeles CA 90015).
Lord Sauron depending on how much they have to alter, only a few days and if you need same day or next day just request it.
@@NorrisDantaFord Is this tailor place still in business? Look them up and google gave me a list but nothing close to what you mention on this post?
