    Bahut happy Holi India bro's and a special thanks to the locals that took me along for the celebrations. Because street Holi in Bangalore ain't easy but it's a wild ride. So, is it good to have friends during Holi?
    Btw this was recorded yesterday on the 8th, for real. Maybe a local Bengalurian can explain better how Holi goes down down here.

    Hey Pedro,
    This was the early celebration, people celebrate a week ahead of Holi. They burn wood one day prior at around 7 PM which is called Holika Dahan, It was on 7th March and the next day early morning the actual Holi celebration starts. Love all your videos. Happy Holi.❤

    • @vipulgupta
      @vipulgupta Год назад +27

      Nice information Rafique but I would like to mention that Holika Dahan should be referred as Holika Dahan, not burning of wood as it is not some kind of fun bonfire but an event with religious and historical significance.
      It goes like this in short. Holika was the name of an asuri (an evil woman) who was the sister of an asur (evil man) king named Hrinyakashyap. Hrinykashyap defied God and wanted everyone to consider him as God though he was an evil man. Prahlad the prince refused to worship Hrinyakashyap, so Hrinyakashyap wanted to get Prahlad killed. Holika had a boon that she cannot be burned by fire if she wore one of her sacred garment, so they planned to kill Prahlad by taking Prahlad into fire along with Holika. But when that happened, with the divine intervention that garment flew and covered Prahlad and instead Holika got burnt to death. Since then Holika Dahan is celebrated as the victory of good over evil.
      This Holika Dahan happens on the night before the celebrations happens with colours. People circle around the Holika Dahan and chant "Holika mata ki cheh, Prahlad bhakt ki jay" which means "Death to Holika and victory to Prahlad" which is again symbolical of victory of Good over Evil. Next day the celebrations happens with colours to celebrate this victory.
      Story is long, I have given a short version.

      I see, are there a lot of north Indians in those areas? Locals I talked to weren't even sure which day was the best to celebrate for colours since they are out and about on both the 7th and the 8th. Often they would mention festivals and parties but I wanted to experience it on the streets.

      @@MadlyRover pedro story behind celebrating holi is very interesting there was one devil named as hrinyakashyap he was a devotee of lord Shiva. Shiva had granted him 5 power after that he become egoistic and want people to consider him god and pray him only he had one child named Prahlad he was a devotee of lord vishnu and he do not consider his father as a god and he used to pray only lord vishnu . this devil king tried his best to kill his son at last he called his devil sister holika (holi name acutally derived from devil named as holika ) holika was given a power by lord brahma to immune from fire. devil king had ordered his sister holika to sit on a pyre with his son prahlad she is able to trick pralahad and made him sat on her lap but what happen she was burnt on ashes and nothing happen to pralahad after that lord Narshingha reincarnation of lord vishnu killed hrinakashyap also this is why first day bonfire fire is done to mark victory over evil. Story behind colour is acutally krishna who is another reincarnation of lord vishnu is little dark in his face color he had fallen in love with radha but he had insecurity about his colour he shared his problem with his mother his mother said she will like you as you are you do one thing color radha like your own colour. this is what krishna acutally had done and this is how he expressed his love for radha and from here colour holi started.

    Something I find more interesting in this video is that.
    You don’t seem to be a foreigner the way you are enjoying 😂😂
    The best thing is you putting your hands on others guys shoulder😅 in India it’s very common. When I first came to Europe 8 years back, I use put my hands like that but people here they thought I way gay 😂

In Bangalore you would not see the craze of Holi unlike other states in India. There were mostly busy people, only some of them were interested in Playing with colours. By the way love from Kolkata ❤️.
