I'm taking comments on board about the "story telling" and editing of the videos so hopefully you've seen some improvement.
Restoration - Restore - To restore to fully working order.
Recently, (sort of) I picked up this 1980’s Coventry Eagle. It had been part of someone’s massive collection and just sat around doing nothing. I thought I could give it a bit of love and get it back on the road.
Straight off the bat, I knew the rims were going to be replaced but what I also wanted to do was convert the bike to drop bars. The old town bars and brake levers were far too rusty to do anything nice with. Fortunately, I have the stock so I could crack straight on with the conversion!
The bike cleaned up really well. The original paint is surprisingly good underneath. A few scratches here and there but no major damage at all. I was really pleasantly surprised! All the alloy parts were cleaned up and lightly polished and the “new” rims had a good amount of time put in to them with the old wire wool and polish combo.
New grease, cables, chain and some period bar tape finished the bike. I know the bar tape has gaps. I know. It was my first time using this old style tape which isn’t self adhesive so I was trying to work out the best way. It seems the best way is to fit the tape under the brake clamps?
It was a nice simple build and hopefully now someone can enjoy it.
