I really think Faron never lost it in his final years , he was always in control . That’s why he did as he chose . He wanted to clock out and he did . He left many many fans with sadness but he knew what was best . What a voice never again .
John Ireland' ,I wholeheartedly agree with your comments, I got to see Faron at church street station in 1979 while on a country music crawl around the states I am so glad that I have these wonderful memories of the greats of country music, something we will never see the likes of again, what they try to pass off as country today is just crappy and should never be compared to what we are listening to here, cheers from Tasmania
I loved his voice so much I travelled alone miles in a coach to see him when he appeared in concert 50+ miles away. Wonderful and glad I made the effort. Such a sad end to his life and guess he never realised how many people loved his singing. Linda
The first concert I ever saw. He came out to the sticks. Madison County Fair in 1969. Three weeks before Woodstock...held a couple of hours southeast. Was eight years old, and remember it well. He played after the tractor-pull. :-)
I love this video, watch everyday... does anyone have a copy of his book "The Faron Young Story" I would lovd to read it... Watch every video on You tube.. thanks
Thanks so much for posting! The high point of my life was getting to see him perform live in St. Charles, Illinois in the 80's. At Max's Silver Pheasant. I even got to thank him and shake his hand and buy him an adult beverage. A truly special memory! I consider myself extremely fortunate. I also got to see Merle, Vern, Conway, and George Jones at the State -Lake Theater in Chicago with my Dad and his best friends just before Conway passed. I'll never forget that show. It don't get much better than that! Hope you all get to to see all your heroes live!
What an awesome story! Not many people can say they've been able to buy their musical hero a drink :) mine is Johnny Cash, so I (hopefully) doubt I'll be able to join your club anytime soon!
Listening to this music takes me back to the tines when I was young and had a old but shiney car with the radio blasting country music all the time. I am getting old now at 84 yrs. but listen to this type of music all the time. The sad part of listening to this is that I have outlived all the great artist.
@@Excalion88 im 76 and i saw live performances of following wishing i could say faron but i did not . JOHNNY CASH ERNEST TUBB WILLIE NELSON EDDY ARNOLD BOBBY BARE WAYLON JENNINGS DON WILLIAMS GEORGE JONES and the artist who introduced me to all the others the greatest CWSinger Of all time Jim Reeves in 160 when i was 13. I talked personally to hi. After the concert he treated me like an adul 1960. t
Was raised on rock, but discovered good old fashioned country music after becoming a Jim Reeves fan. Faron is my newest discovery. He's a great performer, unique singer, and charming. Just bought his greatest hits.
One of the most wonderful things about Faron Young, he always changed things up a bit when performing live. There was never any doubt, people knew he was actually singing!
Cootie Hunley back on the drums, Ben Keith on the Steel, and i believe that is Odell Martin on the lead electric, next to Darrell. The Deputies were a force to be reckoned with in those days, either on a stage or in any bar...;)
I'm obsessed with this video as well, seeing as how I'm a huge faron young fan, and as a young boy, i mowed Jimmy Dean's yard back up in Plainview Tx. My question is: What is the title of the Hank Snow song he impersonates?
My neighbor "Bob" (inside joke, please allow me) was named after Faron. He's 65. His pregnant mother and husband were out in California, I think, and Faron was playing and danced with the mother. She was so in awe she told Faron she would name her baby after him regardless of the sex. From my perspective, she could have named him Willie or Hank but Faron Young ruled in those days. Check out the chords his guitar accompanist is playing. That's not light weight tender and Faron's voice is superlative. Bob/Faron, my neighbor, needs to break out those guitars and start playing. It's never too late. It's never the goal your after, it's the journey.
Yea I realized if he would have still been living today that he would be very old but perhaps he would still tour some like Willie. I would definitely pay to see him even today. But my top two favorites of all time are Dwight Yoakam and him, and I can still see Dwight anytime I want so at least my favorite singer is still touring
What does Faron say at 3:53 that busts up Jimmy Dean? EDIT: Thanks RedRose , I'm barred from replying in comments, but I can edit. I get it now, what faron did as he said 'Ok I will' , was imitate himself or Elvis or whoever, I can see now why Jimmy Dean was busting up, Faron was damn funny.
Faron did say while Hank and him were playing one night on the Hay Ride, Hank told him he was taking his woman and if he tried to stop him, He (Hank) was going to kill him (Faron). Faron said it was one of his better decisions in life.
Dad took me to Minneapolis 1962 Faron Young, Sonny James, Webb Pierce, Kitty Wells show.
Amazing!!
So wonderful. Faron never realized how many people loved his music. He is missed.
Faron young got be up there with George and Conway he must a been a hoot RIP miss all this country singers
I really think Faron never lost it in his final years , he was always in control . That’s why he did as he chose . He wanted to clock out and he did . He left many many fans with sadness but he knew what was best . What a voice never again .
You can tell by how much fun the band was having that he was a thrilling performer and a great bandleader.
Faron Young, he was handsome and so talented. So sad that struggled in the end of his life. RIP Faron Young.

Faron Young...Awesome singer...Great artist...Tragic figure!
One of the most wonderful things about Faron Young, he always changed things up a bit when performing live. There was never any doubt, people knew he was actually singing!
I loved him and his music such a a handsome man
I've been backstage with Faron. He was a nut. Kept everybody in stitches. Too bad his life went sour at the end. Reminds me of Robin Williams tragedy.
These were good times some people have no idea that's sad for them, lucky for me.
Awesome Show
Excellent
For someone born in ‘03 fucking love Faron young wish he had a better ending 😢❤
fabulous love this song and love faron thank you for this
STELLA WE WERE AT SUNSET Park to see the young sheriff Faron seem old w/ silver shine hair it look great, in 1996 summer time,,,

FARON HAD THE BEST VOICE IN COUNTRY. i SANG MOST OF HIS SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just found your channel this morning. Love the old country music! Brings back memories of me and my dad listening to his old records. Good times!
Yeah man. My Dad was an old music head! Remember listening to this, Conway and many others! RIP Daddy.
That Hank Snow had me on the floor!
Talk about "Swingin' Country" Damn!!!!!
Except for maybe George Jones, no other singer of his time could convey real emotion like Faron. RIP
What about Johnny Cash?
You do know there was Hank Williams before him?
Dont forget Lefty.
Faron still the best .my opinion
Saw George Jones at LaCrosse n Headhunters. George walked off after one song!
WOW firt time i hear about him and seen amazing singer and voice he got
Background singers, full violin section, Class!
Cootie Hunley back on the drums, Ben Keith on the Steel, and i believe that is Odell Martin on the lead electric, next to Darrell. The Deputies were a force to be reckoned with in those days, either on a stage or in any bar...;)
Leon Sutton is the lead guitarist, not Odell.
Scott Anderson, Ben Keith was a fixture for Faron. Faron was a force to be reconed with, as were all the deputies.
Bass player, walking very, very nicely.
Thanks I came here for this information
I was wonderi g if the guitarist was O dell... both very tall.. thanjs for clearing it up
Again, his vocal phrasing is second to none.
This is fantastic!
What a treat to find this! Quite a treasure. Thanks for posting.
Look at that great one on the right Darrell McCall still going strong today love him and Mona ❤️
My DADDY MUSIC. DON'T MAKE IT NO MORE. LOVE THE TIME
I didn't realize Faron was so funny and could rock

Jimmy Dean had such charisma, totally likable.

That drummer on the closing clip is incredible. Very sharp!
Great entertainer and quite the character.
Good to you when you were young Longrain......
I'm obsessed with this video as well, seeing as how I'm a huge faron young fan, and as a young boy, i mowed Jimmy Dean's yard back up in Plainview Tx. My question is: What is the title of the Hank Snow song he impersonates?
The Gold Rush is Over
THE GOLD RUSH IS OVER
I've always loved faron Young❤❤
Looks like my friend, Darrell McCall on bass.

One of the all time Greats bar none in any type.
Great!!
Faron was THE STUFF, WITHOUT A DOUBT
o my god i was 19 back then wow
I was 12 and country was king for me.
Listening in 2024
Look at that handsome Darrell McCall on the far right
Darrell is one of my favorite country singers. Very Talented man
I love this song, love the clip but who is the cool cat playing lead? He's cool as ice and right on it, love the walking bass rhythm.
Thanks
Faron and Hank at their best!
Darrell McCall on bass
Ben Keith on steel. A long way from Neil Young!
Pure Talent
TRAGIC END. LOT OF GOOD COUNTRY WASTED
Yea I realized if he would have still been living today that he would be very old but perhaps he would still tour some like Willie. I would definitely pay to see him even today. But my top two favorites of all time are Dwight Yoakam and him, and I can still see Dwight anytime I want so at least my favorite singer is still touring
What about four in the morning?
What Hank Snow song did he do in this video ?
It's called, "THE Gold Rush Is Over (and the love rush is on).
THE GOLD RUSH IS OVER 1952 HANK SNOW
The Gold Rush Is Over and The Bums Rush Is On Hank Snow 1952
Sounds a LOT like Big Sandy...or, should I say, Big Sandy sounds a LOT like Faron Young.
Gotta ask, how was Big sandy?
He was so short..
What does Faron say at 3:53 that busts up Jimmy Dean?
EDIT: Thanks RedRose , I'm barred from replying in
comments, but I can edit. I get it now, what faron did
as he said 'Ok I will' , was imitate himself or Elvis or whoever,
I can see now why Jimmy Dean was busting up, Faron
was damn funny.
Jimmy says "How about you go back to being Faron Young?" Faron said "Okay I certainly will."
Anyone know who the band members are?
"Big" Ben Keith (Steel), Jerry "Cootie" Hunley (drums), Leon "Wahoo" Sutton (lead) and Darrell McCall (Bass)
ABSOLUTELY BEST, BESTEST, HANK SNOW impression ever, don't say Merle please, even though his is also great, just not as good as Faron's!
What kind of guitar is that?
@silverbird58 kinda looks like a Grammer.
@@waybackplayback1347 Yes The Grammer
2:53 the best hank snow impression (not I love these guy but hank is better)
YEAH HE IS STILL HALF KING TO DO SO HIS INVESTMENT THE SOUND OH MAYBE HE IS GOING STEADY & HIS BELOVED SONG INTO HEARTTHROB,,,
I can't understand what that means.
Does anyone know who the musicians are ?
"Big" Ben Keith (Steel), Jerry "Cootie" Hunley (drums), Leon "Wahoo" Sutton (lead) and Darrell McCall (Bass)
@roddybaze610 Great info, thanks . I'm from UK so I don't know any of these musicians but they are fabulous.
Was this song written for his wife that Hank senior stole?
I doubt that Hank "stole" her. His drinking, carousing, & lying did him in many times over! You can't stick around for that for too long.
Hank Wrote Goin Steady and I believe, sold it to Faron!
Faron did say while Hank and him were playing one night on the Hay Ride, Hank told him he was taking his woman and if he tried to stop him, He (Hank) was going to kill him (Faron). Faron said it was one of his better decisions in life.
Ha! Comments unchanged from a year ago!
I'm from Ukraine and I love old country music, because all what nowadays called "country music" it's truly 💩
