I tested the Roomba s9, Roborock s5, 360 s6, and Vanigo a3. The test results were surprising.
Of course the robots bickered at each other the entire time, talking SMACK
I decided to make the video more interesting by adding personalities to the robots.

I know it’s hard to find shag rug vac recs. I also almost got the first vac and am stunned how badly it did 😳 This came out top rated on every other review but most our rooms are shag or thick pile so I’m resetting expectations or my logic for getting one might just be flawed!

I'm not happy with the S9 and how it doesn't puck up dog hair well on lower shag carpets. Need better rollers maybe?
Roomba probably has trouble because of the double brush roll my shark does pretty well on the high pile carpet and Farley well on the shag it goes slow though
How hard is that rug that they got errors.. you need a vacuum that uses a plug

The only robot that completed the shag test was the 360 S6, it can’t transition on to the carpet but it didn’t have an error code like the other robots did.
I think the stronger suction makes it harder for the S9 to maneuver on the shug rug.

I have a 960 most of the time it can’t go from the tile up the shag area rug. Once it got up there, it could vacuum, but it couldn’t get down because it thought the edge was a cliff.
I experienced a similar issue, I usually use a dual mode virtual wall to prevent the 960 from getting on top, because it can’t get down.
bought the roborock s7+, but it's no match for our shag carpet. sad...
Took my s9 back for this same reason.
Yeah The Neato D7 has a similar design and ran fine on the high profile carpet
Thanks. Was the D7 able to roll onto the carpet by itself? I couldn’t even get the S9 to roll onto the shag carpet.
@@redtop32 Yes same carpet, was able to complete the map without any assistance, the extractors on the D7 have little wheels and sit up higher than on the S9. This allows the D7 to move easier on the carpet. I had to do the same thing with the S9, basically Hand Guide it around

may be samsung vr9350 can work on your shag rug . it have large wheel . powerfull suction . just navigation and edge cleaning is not really good
Hi robot masters! I have 3/4" carpet but it's not super thick and fluffy like the one in your video. Would the roborock s4 be a good choice for me?
No the Roborock S4 will struggle with the thicker carpet like mine. I would suggest the Roborock S5, the S5 Max if you want the electronically controlled mopping abilities or the Roborock S6. Keep in mind all these robots can handle the medium to high profile carpet, just not the Shag Rug. The only robot that can handle the Shag Rug is the Shark IQ.

I did do a test with this shag rug and it threw an extractor error. Only the 360 S6 and Shark IQ can Vacuum this shag rug

You have no problem on that with the roomba s9+
What about tassels of oriental rugs?
I recommend rolling up the tassels, all the robot vacuums could potentially suck them up and cause damage.

Hello unfortunately none of the robots I have tested are capable of vacuuming a shag rug. These type of rugs are too thick. There were a couple like the Shark IQ and 360 S6 that were able to get onto the rug, but got bogged down on them.

My old Roomba 690 avoids my shag rug lol. But I put it on there before and it said error 1 move Roomba to a new location then press clean to restart. But my Roomba s9 works on that carpet.
Interesting, so why is it popping up an error code, dirty sensors🤔. I am almost done with the full review of the s9 after 3 weeks of testing and will upload probably Friday or Saturday 😆

I think the only place that sells the S6 is ebay. Amazon only sells the 360 S5 and S7. The S6 is 2 years old so a lot places don’t sell them anymore.
So my carpet is .5 in freize. What would recommend?

If you don’t mind a random navigating robot an older series Roomba would be a good cleaner. Also the first generation Xiaomi Mi is a good robot, at $300. You may find the 360 S5 for under $350 and the Shark IQ can be found for $350 too. All these robots can handle the thick Frieze.

Doug Aegerter It very similar to the Roomba i7 minus the smart mapping. I liked the I7 so it should be a good cleaner. I would try it out because every house is different and a robot in one household may not work in another

My i7 surprisingly manages shag carpet quite well, the s9 however struggles in this area.

@@brodiemckinney My I6+ is the Amazon black Friday version of the I7+ i believe, and it does great on my shag carpet. It just has trouble getting up. It treats the edges like a wall, but 20% of the time will actually climb on up. Once it's up, it'll do the whole rug! Almost like it's figured out the edges? Very weird lol but I'm not complaining.

The Shark IQ and 360 S6 were the only robots to get on top of the shag rug and successfully clean it.

@@huzaifashaki4659 It really depends on what type of floor plan you have. If your floorplan very complex a Lidar navigating robot might be better. Can you tell me how big your layout, how many levels, pets, rugs etc etc. Will let me determine a brtter choice.
@@RobotMasters medium size house with quite a few rugs in between, with height somewhat between medium and your shaggy rug, no pets but lots of long hair on the carpets lol
