This videos was super helpful. Thanks. What a stupid setup though 😂 for those who want further info…the bolts on the turbo inlet were 5mm Allen in my case (2.5 litre axe) 2006 cheers matey
Hello, I am writing to you regarding a persistent issue I have been experiencing with my VW T5 2.5 130hp. Recently, I have noticed that it struggles to start in cold weather. Specifically, when attempting to start the engine in cold temperatures, it does not respond and fails to start. Additionally, I have observed a peculiar behavior when turning the ignition: the radiator fan engages, but the engine does not start. However, in some instances where the radiator fan does not engage, the engine starts without any problem. I have taken several steps to address this issue. Initially, I replaced the engine temperature sensor, but this did not resolve the problem. I even tried removing the radiator fan fuse to see if it would have any effect, but the issue persists.
Cheers suspected mine does while now . Never getting above 60 untill on a longish run .your vid gave me confidence to changed it his morning and bingo 90 degrees within 30 miles . Only addition would be that u can easily drain the g12/13 from m the bottom left rad temp sensor.just pull out the clip be gently remove the sensor and drain into an old washing up bowl. Shittiest bit was the hose attachment ...note to self ..orders clip remover ..cheers
Great, glad it helped, yes indeed you can drain it from there, but you'll end up draining more than you need to. Gotta change all 5 injectors on mine again now. Started white smoke and running lumpy all of a sudden!
Brilliant, thank you Dan. Had the same problem on mine and swapped the thermostat over today after watching this video a couple of times. Your video is extremely useful and it certainly helped to make it a relatively easy job. Temp gauge sits just below 90 now and the heater actually chucks out some heat!
Glad it worked, might take a few runs to get any air bubbles round the system. Check the coolant level next when it's cold. Find our 2.5 takes a good 20mins to get up to temperature!
Another great video. thanks. My T% takes forever to get up to temperature but it then steady, but recently the heater doesn't appear to work unless I put it on really high.
Aux water pump is on the other side. Mines due doing but ive not plucked up the courage yet. Will need to get a special puller as its part of the sprocket set that drives the cam
Dan Sohan I had to give up on the thermostat as couldn’t get flamin elbow off turbo. Put it all back together but does not sound quite the same. Think air box top not on properly
@@KitemanofShoreham I found the air piping could pop off the elbow if it was cleaned up first. Check down there. If the connections are oily the pipes and slip off. Was it getting the bolts out or was it just stuck / stiff in place?

You need to replace your heater resistor and the first 3 positions will work again
Thumbs up mate, very informative!
Helo could you write down the size of the bolt
Great video, thank you. Did it fix the problem Dan? Does it go up to 90 quickly now?
Well.. my 2.5 Tdi block does seem to take an age to get to temp, but it is stable now.
@@DanSohan Thats because you removed the plastic part on the rocker cover
@@MegaSunRise3 it was fine after replacing.
Great job mate👌
Please show instal erg
Dont suppose you have a tutorial for changing the auxiliary water pump underneath

Think thats the pump you meant?
Dan Sohan yeah could be. Nasty little bugger under the passenger side.
