What DSP is doing is called learned helplessness. The Guy purposefully doesn’t learn how to do these basic tasks so he won’t be asked to do them. He sees that Khet is in a poor mood and he said he tried to run the laundry again, turns the power off by mistake, then doesn’t know what to do so drags her away from cooking dinner to fix his screw up.
What some people may not realize is this is how you build up resentment in a relationship. When your partner is so useless at basic tasks and you have to shoulder all the responsibility yourself, it builds up resentment. And it kind of explains why they have no chemistry on display even after 6 years of living together.
And circling back to learned helplessness, you even see it in his gameplay now. He just asks chat to tell him what to do. He can’t do anything on his own anymore. If he needs to change something in OBS, people have to tell him how to do something. Setting up direct capture? Rambo has to do it. Fixing a Street Fighter board? Howard does it and then Phil asks for it back. Putting up curtains? Gotta pay someone to do that. Learn to cook more than turkey dogs? DoorDash. Lemon PC not working? The fans that built it better fix it. This is why I don’t believe he ever set up LANs or built PCs. His reliance on learned helplessness would have prevented him from figuring out how to do it. I think he knew someone that built PCs and now that bit of personality gets absorbed into The Guy.
Nerd City has a great video about Sssniperwolf and how narcissists just steal traits from other people they admire and then turn toxic against those very people. I see DSP exhibiting similar tactics on the Dent Sea Scrolls. It explains why his jokes are so lame and surface level. It’s because there’s no humanity or personality to him.

Phil admitted he used to make at least double what he does now. I think that's still low. During his machinima grave dance stream he admitted his vlogging channel alone used to make almost $30k a month at his peak. This is why I think he made (and blew) nearly 3 million dollars at his peak. Mr. Finance Degree didn't save or invest anything. Phil should actually be retired by now and just doing streams for fun once a quarter or even less. But he's financially regarded.

I think it is unlikely that Phil and the Kat will ever have good streams together because I don't think they really know how to interact normally. Remember when he was having Internet troubles and a chat member suggested he spend the time with his wife - Phil said something to the effect of "what would we talk about without the Internet". Paraphrased as I can't find the original quote.
