Insane ride as 1996 125 Husky passes 41 riders to go from last to second in the Foxhill VMXDN 23

- When Rob Holyoake was told his qualifying time in the Super EVO 125 class at the Foxhill VMXDN hadn't been recorded so he had to start after the main gate drop, he was determined to get to the leaders any way he could.
Riding an exotic factory 1996 Husqvarna 125 that sounded so sweet on the historic valley track, he was only allowed to start when the leaders had got round the first turn.
Clashing bars and taking some wild lines, he worked his way past 41 riders to take a stunning second place, setting a fastest lap time two seconds faster than anyone in the race.
I've been in and around MX for nearly 50 years now, and I have to say that that was the most incredible ride I've ever seen!!
It's the definition of full send
Go watch Jimmy Decotis’s ride on a 125 at the Canadian national from a few weeks ago. It’s the most intense GoPro race footage on a 125 I’ve ever watched.
@@crowe9385 Surely you mean this one: ruclips.net/video/8Xn0wcUIt04/видео.htmlsi=orhw5AWaAVI6XPqN
Those 1st few laps were ridden like he stole that bike! Sick performance, and thanks for pointing me in that direction.
@@rovcanada1 that’s the ride! Made me want a 1-2-5 soooo bad lol. I could watch guys flog small bores all day.
I agree I'm 59 now been racing or watching since I was 10 that was a truly incredible ride. I only wish we had gopros back then you tell people how good you where but to show them would be awsome
I’m an old guy watching this from my recliner and the adrenaline has me shaking with excitement. Dang what a ride!
Riding like that will have him watching TV from a recliner earlier than most.
Amazing talent though.
Me too, I got a little arm pump gripping my beer.
I was one of the other riders held back with Rob (managed only to get up to 24th/25th) ...but I said to Rob before the start "at least you'll get a wicked video and entertain the crowd...and he did just that!!
it doesnt make sense that they held you guys up, it should just of been last gate pick or 2nd row if gate was full.
To thrilling to Remer how great that was fun fun 😀
Still a great ride for you, passing close to 20 riders from last isn't easy...Well done!!
That downhill double was insane...😮
Why did they hold yall back?
Wow, just Wow!!! I'm 58 years old and have riding dirt bikes since I was 5. This is one of the most badass racing action I've ever seen. This dude is an animal, heck, he even screams out every now and then when he knows he pushed the limit past his bike's ability. Dude was determined for sure. Great video. thanks for posting.
This is probably the best ride I’ve seen in a long time, this is skill
This is by far the most incredible, massive, outstanding and totally in another level ride and we have a complete POV shared by Rob Holyoake of his amazing performance. Thanks and Long live Rob!
A truly mind blowing performance indeed! Even by the end I couldn't understand just how he was getting it slowed enough then turned in some of those corners. Incredible!
This video is a great teaching tool for a young rider on how important Corner speed and technique is over every thing on moto.
Exactly it takes less then 2 milliseconds to get passed and lose it all..
Jeezers, Rob rode like he was on a mission from God! I can't believe how fast he raced AND how cleanly (zero mistakes)! Corners? What corners? Rob rode through them so fast! Incredible race, absolutely incredible!
God doesn't know anything about motocross, dirt bikes, or road bikes.😂😂😂😂😂
I have watched a dozen times so far the line were like that Ayerton Senna
@@mittiejackson3427 Sorry for your daddy issues.
Absolutely mega ride and has to be the best rider view I've ever seen as you really get a feel for the sheer speed that Rob is traveling at...
well said Sir . . .
Wow great line choice, race craft, and balls of steel...the screaming helped a bit too. What a ride!
Never rode anything as fast as i rode my little KX 125!
It seems the bigger the bike i bought, the slower i got. Who ever that is, he's one hell of a rider! 👍
Some great riding. Bike clearly had more beans than nearly everyone in the field, and suspension was incredible.
Corner speed he carried
@williamshaneblyth somehow managed to fly pass people on the up hill
Yup! I could click like on so many of the comments here! But this was clearly the right combination of being in shape, having the skill in spades, having a Rocky Balboa heart in coming from dead last at the start, and riding a just plain crazy powerful bike!
love how he passed at least two riders going up that hill! But of course finding the perfect lines and carrying speed through the turns. Exciting to watch! Thanks! And congrats to Rob Holyoake! Oh... and I loved the Whoops. No, not the ones on the track (there weren't any) the ones Rob was making with his mouth. Ha ha!
I was EXHAUSTED at the end of just WATCHING that race. That was better than the entire On Any Sunday movie. Rob is a hellacious racer. I was afraid to toggle the GO switch on a friend's Husky 400 back in the '70s. We called it the Trencher after he dug his mom's new sprinkler trenches with it.
Absolutely Effin mental,
Having the time of his life by the sounds of it,
Him and the bike both have some beans. Thnx for the vid, just killer.
When you can ride a 125 at that level their ain't much more fun you can have, let alone have many people that can keep up with you, great video👍
Me too, been watching MX since 1975 and still own an XT500! Man, that was in unbelievable display of riding skills! Clean passes every time and incredible overtaking! Wow, I’m blown away!! Buy that man a Bells 🥃💪🇿🇦
I had a 1977 TT 500. What a beast.
classic 125 lines railing outside and crisscrossing the track to keep up momentum. couple passes looked on the knife’s edge of a wipeout. very exciting footage!
You nailed it the bike wasn't quicker the rider just knew how to use ever once of its potential everywhere . He was one with the machine
That was a great ride! Rob, for an old Husky rider, you sure showed me your mettle. Well done!👍🏼
love how we are able to feel the passion when you hear audio of the rider screaming out loud with as if cheering himself on to greatness unexpected #go #pro #audio . . . .
Truly one of the finest rides I've ever seen! My muscles just do not twitch that FAST. The balance, the fearlessness, the f _ _ _ _ _ g SKILL!
Geez that little bike is quick! Of all the footage I've seen from that weekend, this was by far the best ride.
Jesus, I'm old. A 125 making that kind of power, not to mention how fast he could stop. That bike and rider were both dialled in beautifully.
Thanks for this fantastic video.
Only rider that rode as fast and as smoothly was Mark Barnett. That was so impressive. Well done!
Ive raced rob and struggled to keep up with him on a 89 250 when he was on his super evo cr 125! Kid can ride!! So fun to watch too🙌🏼✊🏼✊🏼
What a ride that was! The amount of speed he carried into the turns was just amazing, super smooth riding all around! I'd love to see what he does when given the pole position!
Rob Holyoake, never heard before. Very well done! Love it.
The price for used Husqvarna CR125 will raise up today...
What's the opposite to PTSD? I've been out of the sport for best part of 10yrs now, but watching videos like this bring me right back into the moment and get the adrenaline flowing as if it was yesterday. I'm at a stage in life that I accept I'm unlikely to race mx again, but watching videos like this make me realise what an absolute privilege and honour it was to of had all them carefree years with my live revolving around the singular aim of racing motocross as hard as I could.
Holy muther f_ing badass rider Batman. That dude rips. Seriously - what a great watch, Congratulations on being very good at what you do.
i started racing 125s in 1970. this brings back great memories. this guy is a beast!
An inspired ride on a sweet bike. Dayum that thing is fast! His corner speed was the truly insane part...well that on jump where he aired it out repeatedly was wild too.
Corner speed for sure I don't think the bike was gruntier just he carried the speed and knew how to flow other guys where quick at the end but you could see his riding got Max out of the bike compared to other guys . A legend ride 😊
Best 125 video I've seen...it's as if I was riding it. The camera position and stability were 5 star, I'd like to see this in VR using an Oculus
I agree, that was most incredible! Had to watch that pass at 5:40 several times
Picture perfect 125 track… rock hard with lots of hard ruts and elevations. Yesh!!
Man! I could watch 3 hours of this.
You were having a Blast, 🎉🎉
Wish MX bikes back in my day were like these modern ones.
Fun Run.
that line at 5:15 was slick, not to mention airing out that gap at 5:40... sick race bro!
He just plain ran out of time, not talent, will, determination or equipment. That was one of the best pure Moto videos I’ve ever watched. Nice ride !
Had they not messed up qualifying he would have been on the gate on day one
They changed it for race three which I think he had slip off the start but someone kindly gave him there gate in race 4 and well the rest his history
@@sonniemee-harris9855 He sure ripped it after they screwed him. He turned a bad situation into a segment of the movie “On Any Sunday” !
Had an 01 or 02 125 Husky and it was of my favorite bikes.
He made that little husky look reeaaally good
Rob rode amazing all weekend, clearly had fun which is the main thing, but I have to say what he had to do for the start is absolute insanity
I had a 96 too ..still the fastest 125 I have ever ridden. Used to stuff Cr 250's in the senior class...I practiced with good B rider with a Pro Circuit Honda 125 and it would pull three lengths in three gears uphill every lap.
i was a competitive 125cc rider on an rm125x back in the earlt 1980s, but, i tell you the guys riding today have got some huge kahunas, the jumps these days are absolutely frightening, we never had massive air like todays tracks have, kudos to all the guys who fly over these jumps, and what a ride by by this guy, sensational !!
Absolutely brilliant, loved the sound of a screaming 125.
Going right now to search for 1996 Husquvarna 125! That thing is fast, homie was on the gas! Well done.
This is how I see myself in my head while riding. But reality.... OMG!!
Great Ride very nice come back. That how to ride a 125 2-stroke. Much props from Texas.
Absolutely breathtaking riding! I rode a mid 70s Husqvarna 360 cr for several years.
The bike sounds like a bumble bee in a bottle, and the suspension gave him so confidence, no a single hard or difficult landing, most of the time seems air to ground was transitionless
His lines to pass all the riders are impressive great ride. Crazy he should be penalised for technicality. Let him start on the line. He is clearly top rider.
Why was he penalised?
Yes why.
That rider on the husky . Knows his 🎉🎉🎉🎉 stuff. That bike controlled by that rider . Awesome 😎💯👍👍💯😎🎉🎉🎉🎉. Hell yeah love the excitement in both man and machine
ive been riding dirt bikes since i was 3, im turning 30 this year. i used to race in the triple crowns series, and the Canadian amateur nationals. this was one of the best if not THE BEST race ive ever seen on video. my heart is racing just from watching. this was SOOOOOOO GOOD
good vid sir. I figured it was a pro rider doing a promo event or something. I see that it was a transponder, qualifying mishap. I wouldn't be in this class of riders, he would have lapped me a dozen times. awesome vid and rider.
That ride was next level! When he cut across the ruts mid corner to pass I couldn’t believe it. Had flashbacks of racing my 79 Husky 125.
😎👍
I had a Maico 400 and a Husky 360 back in the 70s… we were never this fast on a course. I will say with the old 1/4 throttles, they might have as well had a toggle switch for a throttle. 🤣 The suspensions these days and designs are miles better than the bikes we had - awesome to watch 👍
Whoever built that motor, hats off to you, not forgetting the chassis set up allowing the rider to get away with those moves.
Steve clitheroe tunesd that motor he said it would be the best one he done for us
Yeah, that bike just screams along. What a sound.😎
OOOOO MYGOSH Thanks for the ride brother. Nothing like a 2 stroke 125 in the hands on a professional assassin.
Old bike .Big balls, skill and determination. I was absolutely knackered after watching that. What a ride!
That was the most incredible ride/comeback anyone has ever seen!! Way to freakin' go, Rob!!
Epic balls of steel ride and a perfect demonstration of going full throttle into a wide corner and getting good speed coming out.
What a ride, wish all the racing was that good!!! Well done
Truly impressive. Loving the rider shouting out of pure adrenaline :D
I've never seen anyone ride like that. Makes me wish I was 35 years younger. That kid was good! And his bike sounded good, too.
He took down like 30 in the 1st 2 corners. Sounds like he was having a blast2🤘🤘
I didn't read who that was riding and though dam Chiodi was riding a Husky again 😆🏆🏆
THIS performance - by one helluva 125 rider - is why 125cc were LOVED in their day. I hope they come back. (More and more people are sayin that 450cc is just too much for the sportsman rider.)
Great racing and impressive result against some gorgeous 125s. Love the sky shot around the 5:40 mark.👊💨
WOW... that was a total clinic....Seemed to pick the right line in every corner... absolutely awesome ride....Wow..
The rider...the engine...the tires/handling...and, OMG, the suspension is PERFECT!!!
That 125s engine had some serious magic worked on it. Just look at how it out-pulls virtually every other bike up the long hills.
Quite possibly the raddest 125 ride I have ever seen.
Thanks 🤘
Absolutely love that dude feels the raw adrenaline enough to shout it out loud! Absolutely ripping! Best pov on the tube hands down!
I had a 175 husky it was a Wr 175 for cross country racing, good ride on it, thanks for the vlog incredible congratulations P-2 thanks BigAl California
Man I loved everything about this!
Hell Yeah Awesome ride bro fastest lap times and most air time, I thought you were guna jump on someone GREAT RIDE M8
Awesome stuff; what a ride! i bet Rob had a blast making all those passes...i know some of the most fun rides i had were when i fluffed the start and had to fight to get back to the pointy end; thanks for taking this old fart along for a spectacular ride.
That reminded me of a Bob Hannah ride, at Unadilla, when he broke his front brake cable and came from last place to win.
That was so awesome, love the sound of the two stoke and that pipe was getting a workout.
Great ride! I love hearing the old bike screaming.
Amazing rider this guy is pushing harder in & out of those corners.
Hey Racers, one thing to always remember. it's always 80% is the rider!!!
The most important part is always the nut that holds on the handlebars.....
That was nuts!! I used to watch Davi Millsaps do that on an RM80 when he was like 11 or 12 in FTR Hare Scrambles. Just run people down 2 and 3 times his age. Insane!! My heart was jumpin' watching this!
That is the coolest MX track I've ever seen. And that ride ? WOW !
Nice Ride! Enjoyed watching
This makes me miss my two strokes, and being young enough to ride them.
I'll just watch the start ... 11 minutes later, lol! Brilliant ride, nose got scary high a few times though!
Wow- what a ride.. WFO the entire moto.. well done!
That dude can rip!! That little 125 must have some nice port work, it pulls everywhere and there were lots of hills on that course.
Impressionante allungo 4/5 marcia della huski grande motore e pilota!
Epic ride with zero errors. Reminds me of Ward, Emig, Bubba back in the day. Cheers!
Ive watched this ride a few times now. HOLY SHIT WHAT A RIDE!!!
Perspective Like flying on the back of an angry bee 🐝 flying like a missile ..great video. Nice ride wow. Was that one dude with the number 1 on his plate trying to block pass . Geez
This is unbelievable, total Wow moment!
This is absolutely insane. 💪🏻👏🏻
seen him fyling around the track fairplay beastmode
I love that sound!
By no means am I comparing speeds but it really rides of my second moto at Loretta’s regionals(3 moto format). To quick if jump left me stuck in the gate. After getting out the first corner was completely clear. Being a good starter I didn’t get that experience much but what fun!! Caught the leader at the last turn before finish. The other two motos I pretty much led wire to wire but that second one is one I will never forget. Easy to ride loose coming from the back pissed off!
Corner speed great lines and great block passes into tight corners what a legend
Dude was flat out rippin. Cool watch.
