That would be an awesome choice for comparison! I haven't personally fished a Butterstick but Redington has been perfecting them for years and is on to V3. Moonshine just released its second version of the Revival called the Revival S. Both companies obviously aren't afraid to update their rods. I would love to get my hands on a Butterstick V3!
Hi there Geoff. Not sure if I spelt your name correctly. Awesome rod, although a little out of my price range with the the exchange rate and all. However, I have placed an order for a 3/4 weight outfit from Maximumcatch, and really looking forward to trying something ultra light. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can try a 4 weight outfit. I did some fishing today at a small creek just outside of Port Elizabeth, here in South Africa with the fly rod. Certainly not trout, but I caught a few small moon fish, and what I think may be bream in this little rock pool. I was actually surprised when I hooked the first one , as i was not expecting something in the rock pool. May go back tomorrow for another try. Enjoy the new rod and stay hooked.
That is awesome! I know a few people who love their Maximumcatch setups. For the price you get a real nice outfit. That's wonderful to hear that you are having fun catching lots different fish! Best of luck to you!
@@KissTheFish Thank you. Was just watching another of your videos where you and your son were catching bass and bluegill. Really awesome. Nowadays, I try to catch most fish on fly, irrespective of the species. Great fun.
@@darrelbaillie7829 I love teaching my kids to fish. It can be frustrating haha but seeing the smile on their faces when they catch a fish is so worth it!
Haven't got a chance to fly fish yet, but I get ads on Instagram for the Moonshine spinning rods and they at the very least are some beautiful looking rods.
Your going to love the glass 3 wt. They make big fish out of small ones and memories out of big ones. I don't have a Revival (yet) but do own several other brands. One thing I noticed on your7' 3wt rod is that it ahs two stripping guides. That's not common on such a short rod. I wonder what their thought process was on that feature.
Thank you! I have pulled in some brookies and a few small rainbows on the Swift River this past week on it and it was like night and day compared to my 7 wt. I'm not sure why the 2 stripping guides either. I will say this about the customer service with Moonshine. I noticed a small blemish on the middle section so I took a picture and emailed them asking if it would hurt the integrity of the rod. Not 15 minutes later I had a response. They explained it was a surface issue that wouldn't hurt the integrity of the rod and offered to send me a new middle section free (and I keep the old 1 too) or take 10% off my entire order. I took the new middle section. They overnighted it to my house at no cost to me and sent me another awesome sticker!
@@KissTheFish hey a local! If I see you on the swift I’ll give you a holler! I’ve got their drifter rod and I love it, making a transition to glass and I’m building one right now so if you see a guy with a bright purple rod that’s me
Awesome! Nothing beats catching fish on things you made! If you see a dude who has no clue what he's doing and complaining about his leaky waders, then that's probably me haha! See you out there!
I hope you enjoy it! The 3wt has been treating me good. It took me some getting used to casting glass. So much more flex to work with. Super accurate though.
Good unboxing review! But, and this is a huge BUT like Kim K sized BUT, you should 100% never ever purchase a fly rod without having it in your hand and casting it and better yet actually fishing it for a day. I own rods that very in price range from a couple hundred dollars to the thousand dollar plus range, Echo, Loomis, Sage, Burkheimer. Fly shops with knowledgable staff is where you buy fly rods or asking friends and/or people on the rivers and lakes you fish what they are using, fly fishing clubs etc.
That's fair. I guess I never would buy a guitar without playing it. This seems like the kind of tip I can definitely learn from! Thank you and I will keep this in mind in the future!
Great video. 🎣🎣🎣
Rod is made in the USA ?
I believe the blank is made in China and they assemble everything in America
@@KissTheFish Probably,in this price range..
Wonder how a Revival would compare to a Butterstick V3?

thank you for video. Can you share some ideas of what a good finesse glassfiber rod should be? We want to make a breakthrough glassfiber rod
Superb first look mate. I have enjoyed it very much. And it looks like a very nice piece of kit.
Absolutely and thank you very much! It casted like butter! Setting the hook on some brook trout felt so smooth. I can't wait to get out there again!
So I just got the Revival 5 wt and as a beginner it feels so nice! I can see I'll be wanting both !
I am considering getting the 5wt Revival next! I love the 3wt so far! It's held up real nice against decent fish!
Good unboxing my friends

I think there is a manbun somewhere in this video😂😂😂
Rat tail maybe, manbun no haha

I just got the 5wt Revival as a gift. Getting ready for opening day here in the Northeast a little bit disappointed that it is made in China.
