- 'Watch: Scottish Crown Jewels Arrive at St Giles’s Cathedral
The Honours of Scotland - the country's crown jewels - have arrived at St Giles's Cathedral for a service to honour the King and Queen.
The Crown, the Sceptre and the Sword of State travelled by car under military guard.
They include the new Elizabeth Sword, commissioned to replace the previous Sword of State as it had become too fragile.

The hecklers disrespected the Honours of Scotland when they were brought in to St. Giles. Even if you oppose the present monarchy these are ancient symbols of Scottish nationhood and should be respected.

I didn't realize that Scotland had a separate coronation, especially after having read that they brought back the Stone of Scone, the Stone of Destiny, to London for the coronation of King Charles this year.It really brings back lots of memories, when I studied "British life and Institutions" at college in England.One of my professors was actually a Scotsman and the other funnily enough a Welshman! @@yvonneplant9434 Good afternoon, yes the honours of Scotland were presented to her Majesty, but differntly.Apparently there was a procession from Holyroodhouse to St.Giles,Queen ElizabethII sitting in a carriage and the honours of Scotland, crown,sword etc. were carried by dignitaries before her all the way to the cathedral where they were presented to her. regards Rosa Morena

The union has been that of two kingdoms: England and Scotland. Wales and Ireland have different stories.
i think England and Scotland are the only two. there were some welsh aspects added to the coronation in England this year. and Wales hasnt had a king of their own since the 1200s and were a part of the kingdom of England for a long time

St Giles is not a cathedral. The Church of Scotland (Presbyterian) has no bishops. St Giles is a protestant meeting house.
St. Giles IS still a cathedral. It was consecrated as a cathedral before the reformation and it cannot be deconsecrated. It can be desecrated by the rites of the presbyterians, but it remains a sanctified space.

Not at all. the king is being presented with the Honours of Scotland on behalf of the nation and the people of Scotland. This is not a new ceremony, but the last time it occurred was in 1953. Narcissism would be if he tried to organise a military parade along Princes Street in his own honour, the way that Number 45 in the UISA wanted a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue.
