There is a difference between a humid heat and a dry heat. Really. It makes all the difference.
For this reason, I pity those poor souls in tropical humid regions even more than those in deserts. 30-40+ degrees with little cloud coverage and max humidity is a deadly combination that would surely kill me as a pasty Englishman myself.

I can totally relate. While I've never been to the UK, I used to live in Alaska then moved to the east coast which is also extremely brutal during the summer. I am not at all adapted to heat, I have the second highest tolerance for sunburns in my family and I'm still really vulnerable, but at least I'm the guy who's not even phaced by the cold during the winter

Fun fact: You can use AC for heating a home too, AND YOU SHOULD! In many places, AC is just for cooling, but buying a reverdable AC you can heat your home with up to 4 to 5 times the efficency of any other heating method.
I live in similar European climate, where summer is usually 2 weeks of sunny summer and rest is rain and cold, but heating a home with the outside temperature being anything above 0°c is perfect for ac-heating, and you can have most of the whole year where you can heat with less energy. Granted, you'll still need some other heating solution for real winter temps and the efficency drops quick as it approaches the low limits, but having a reversable ac should be more widespread, because it's no different to normal ac, exept for an extra valve to reverse the coolant cycle and you'll get the ability to not die to a heatwave. :D

Marjority of us Brita dont have AC and our homes are meant for the cold weather and is designed to keep heat IN not out. So inside is 35 degrees on a hot summers day.
I am from Hungary and we too have pretty heavy heat during summer
So much so that during most of the summer afternoon's you are not allowed to go outside because the summer's radiation is that bad

I went to Budapest in April and it was 30 celcius, i went back home to the uk where it was only around 13 celcius and got a cold.

In Australia we get 25 to 35 in the middle of summer. The rest of summer in 17 to 24 (all degrees is Celsius) Australia is weird.
