"It's made by computer", the magical sentence. This video gave the (almost) simple explanation, why to suppose there are complicated special effects ? :)
Clémentin Well, really it's made with optical illusion *and* video splicing - the optical illusion is very necessary. You can't simply say "computer", because the simplest way - realistically 3D animating the whole thing - can't be done on the time/budget that a normal person doesn't have. So you gotta say *how* the computer was used.
Well, it's still an optical illusion from the way it's built as far as the way the structure appears to connect together as an upward slide shown from one angle. The video illusion seems to be a masking out effect which could be done with Adobe Aftereffects a little extra work than just a simple video editing. But I get your point, it's kind of half and half.
Everyone disapointed knowing that it didnt happen should be impressed by how well made the original video was that it could make the illusion that smooth despite cutting 3 videos into one let alone building the structure itself.
the actual video isnt edited the thing has been built so it looks normal to us in that specific angle, go look videos like "impossible ball illusion" where in some videos shows how the thing has been built and is shown from different directions :)
lastly, remember to use good lighting, a good camera and contrasting colors so you can actually *SEE* what is going on. I had no idea what was being shown until the explanation. Kinda takes the fun out of the finished product.
Very clever. I'd like to build a fountain that looks exactly the same but has pumps to move the water up the three stages...I think it can be done with a little work.
No I don't think it has anything to do with video editing. It's actually downhill just forced perspective to make it look uphill. Go see brusspup's impossible balls illusion to see what I mean
Nice. But you can obviously note that the water flow is stronger at the junctions where you are connecting the videos, but that can be fixed! Anyways, good video!
I guess that it is possible to do with movie makers softwares as you propose, but even there I find it a rather convoluted and complicated explanation (which I don't entirely get BTW). Here's a much simpler explanation /watch?v=Lwm-yGCjOjU. At the point where the guy says "notice the behaviour of the liquid. Certainly not caused by gravity alone",... ... he failed to mention the key point that there may be a hidden little hose pumping the water onto that section of the structure
Optical illusions based on camera angles are awesome. But I'm missing the point of this one? It's supposed to make us think that the water is going in a full circle by going up. But there's so much video editing, that it cancels the idea.
This was pretty lame. Anything that requires video-editing like this is NOT an illusion, which is "a thing that is or is likely to be wrongly perceived or interpreted by the senses." What we're watching here is just a couple videos blended together.
This can be simplified. I saw one in person at Ripleys Believe It Or Not museum that was operating continually - no merging of videos. The trick was all about the angles and the viewer could only see it head-on (no side views). The final water flow coming down was actually a slender clear hard plastic tube with water being pumped up to the top and then flowing down around the outside of the tube to give the impression it was only flowing down. This one here is too complex and cannot be viewed in person without giving away the secret.
+Canonical If you are going to be rude. Be rude somewhere else. Because that guy is just saying and we don't need geniuses showing off their "smarty blah blah".
Casual Falcon 101 You realize it IS Professor Farnsworth, right? It looks like him because it IS him? He's an idiot for not realizing that and you're an idiot for thinking I'm going to listen to some beta douche like yourself tell me not to be blunt.
I'm not convinced with your explanation having built a working one of these. I'm just not convinced anyone would go to the effort of working out how to construct the 3D version and not workout how to fit the pipes and pumps.
+Walla Walla Bing Bang I figured it out!!! It's "Yes by Thomas Newman" The movie you might have been thinking of was Meet Joe Black. I knew I recognized the song too!! I use to listen to the soundtrack all the time and it just clicked. I hope that helped!
I can't believe you spent so much time modeling and animating this whole thing.
At that time it took me 3 days, now it would take one day and much.. MUCH better
He got 2mj views out off it :)
i thought i was the only person who thought that.

Not all heroes wear capes!! Appreciate your work man! Great explanation! 🤯
My opinion.. It's not not an optical illusion but more of video editing. When you edit you can make anything an illusion
Yes; like a studio illusionist

Vousie V I think you reply to Josh White (the first poster) because he said that, not me. ;)

Very, very skillful animation! Beautiful job, and I love that Professor Farnsworth took time off filming to participate!
This music makes me feel like someone is confessing to a murder on CSI

Thumbs up for Professor Farnsworth.
I thought he was Dr Nefario but sure...
Thank you so much for this video! This illusion was driving me crazy!
You Welcome ;)
Farnsworth: "Good news everyone! I've invented free energy!"
Everyoneelse: "really??"
Farnsworth: "No not really"
The little animated character is the best thing of the video
1:01 - 1:57 The ''water'' looks gallium.
+Clash of Clans RayMan or mercury

This is extremely cool and clever, thanks for the explanation!
That is what I call ART. Bravo
It's Professor Farnsworth, beloved character from the hit television show, Futurama.
Professor Farmsworth??
Awesome! also, good that u add professor farnsworth xD!
Love the illusion, really love it with the Prof!
thanks for that, very clearly explained. Great animations too btw!
Good news everyone!
what?

well, i guess fry's still not going to understand anything he showed
echoing another's comment: "Now I can rest in peace." Thanks for the explanation.

Thanks for the explanation of its I'm gonna build it in my minecraft world
Le Reddit Army is here... for science!
This is why nobody likes us. Shut the fuck up, there is no Reddit army.
Santo Tiralosi
Seriously. I love Reddit but these 12 year oolds piss me off.
ssshh people will think you're not being ironic
there is a special place on 9gag for people like you -_-
Santo Tiralosi
There is no us.
No need to make this sound like the start of a drama movie trailer
+Brock Aband I dunno I dug the jam
The music is very nice, though. Great chord voicings
Can someone tell me the name of the soundtrack? I think it's beautiful :)
some of it is, Arvo Pärt.. may be you can look 'fratres'
rest of it, i dont know :D
Thank you very much ^^
Thomas Newman - Yes (Meet Joe Black soundtrack)
Is that the music to the movie "A Beautiful Mind"?
The music is an excerpt from Arvo Part's Fratres.
how to make that animation?
No I don't think it has anything to do with video editing. It's actually downhill just forced perspective to make it look uphill. Go see brusspup's impossible balls illusion to see what I mean

Koska Kuvaton
From the Meet Joe Black's Sound Track - (Meet Joe Black)
pause and repause it in order to work??
Oh, hey, look! It's Futurama's Professor Farnsworth!
Optical illusions based on camera angles are awesome. But I'm missing the point of this one? It's supposed to make us think that the water is going in a full circle by going up. But there's so much video editing, that it cancels the idea.
what's this piano song called?? awesome illusion btw xD
Came here because of 9gag.
Same
Chelsea Barraball Same
same here lol
You're welcome ;)
Why'd you use the proffesor from futerama
cool
Very nice work!
That little scientist guy is terrifying.
Agreed lol

ok fun vampire
With What?

+Rick Powell; it's hard MC Escher ask you can make Waterfall test with proof water infinity!
DaVinci compared MC Escher are legendary secrets!!
Thanks ! good explanation, could you do an explanation for the Escherian stairwell as well?
Good, I´LL try
Thank you for the good explanation 👍👍
That old man looks like from a cartoon show called Futurama
+TheWildGamer 3:13 ;)
how stupid are you
+Canonical solid 10/10

Absolutely wonderful work! :-)
that's nice and all but the guy physically built the structure, not modeled it in a computer.
How about the escherian stairwell illusion that makes me believe it's real? Can you explain it?
Basically this video explains that it can not be done and it was computer generated?
Hey.. Just one emiter with simple volume Hyper Voxels
DylonMonroeVideos ... it's called a philtral dimple and if you look in the mirror, you will notice you have one too!
it's not really going up its just on the floor and it looks like it
But how does the water go to the top of it just goes outside????
wonderful illusion great work
What is that soundtrack?
Not sure why they decided to use that mysterious type of professor
u use cineme4D?
+prum chhangsreng LightWave3D
LookingMercury3D thank
Why are there so many dislikes? do people hate explanations?
+llamajoeteam Probably because he spilled so much "water". What a waste! Children in Africa could have drunk that water!
+hypercookie sloth Yes, but maybe he thought that Africans could get drunk on that water and left the fire out?
???? I still don't understand
what is the background song name?
Mom, I’m 8 years late. Where’s the time machine?!
Nicely Explained...!!!
Where do I know that scientist-guy from!?
What music is this from?
It's from the soundtrack of the movie "Meeting Joe Black".
what song is that in the bg?
Meet Joe Black- Thomas Newman performed by The City of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra
the 10 amazing opitcal illusions is cool, right
I think you mean synchronized. You spelled it wrong.
I'm not convinced with your explanation having built a working one of these.
I'm just not convinced anyone would go to the effort of working out how to construct the 3D version and not workout how to fit the pipes and pumps.
This music was used in a film but I can't recall it, cool vid though!
Is this fallout 3 music?
whats the music? I like it
also great explanation video
***** i don't know but is from a game "dreamfall chapters"
It's excellent.
Thanks for the tipoff. I found a long section of it on RUclips. Great composition and very sensitive performance. Five stars.
+Walla Walla Bing Bang I figured it out!!! It's "Yes by Thomas Newman" The movie you might have been thinking of was Meet Joe Black. I knew I recognized the song too!! I use to listen to the soundtrack all the time and it just clicked. I hope that helped!
could anyone please tell me the name of this song?
Whey did he use the scientist from futureama
+Sam Benjamin Why not?
What types of pens colors pleas
Además, la vision que la observamos es con un ojo (el de la cámara), si estuviéramos allí y lo viéramos con dos ojos no habría ilusión, yo creo.
This makes sense now.. and I'm disappointed by the original trickery now that I understand how they did it :(
anyone else notice the professor from futurama?
ha that's the only thing i could think of. how weird it was to see professor Farnsworth in 3d
No I didn't
what song is this?
you could animate the hole thing with some software, even the guy.
@Josh White ...Have a lock on my icon on the left
i'm still lost in the first part the water fall down and make the wheel spin. there is not the in the 3d picture after i'm more lost then before.
lol the fact that they had to make a 3d animation its mindblowing to me -.-
pk il y a un mec de Futurama?
You do not say?
You could have built it so that the water doesn't fall outside (from 3rd to 1st level),
Bonjour Monsieur Jean Paul
Aha, that explains the wet floor all around it :o)
that is not invention or illusion. that is editing in rendering software.
mostrated is not a word in English.
you want "shown"
Maybe he isn't from an English speaking country.
Yes, that is why I made the comment...
2:38 Synchronized*
Never the Water go Upside Brittanny, just an optical ilusion from the Owner.. But very well do it from him.. See my video again ;)
This is not an illusion! This is video editing !
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!
Nice Video!.....Nice MUSIC!!!
What;s that creepy thing building this?
I DON'T WANT LIKE THIS PLANET ANYMORE
