- In this video, I show you how to change the lower unit gearcase oil on an Evinrude 9.9 horsepower outboard motor. I used Evinrude Johnson HPF PRO gearcase lubricant, and the total cost of the project was about $36. Very
I did learn something..thank you..
You’re welcome!
Once old oil is drained, could you put bottom screw back in and fill from the top until it back-flows? If you don't have the pump screw attachment. Cheers.
Filling from the bottom reduces the chance you will have bubbles in the unit and therefore less oil than required.
@@allanwrenchso can you or not?
@@danielstark8258Yes u can
Awesome video! What other routine maintenance do you have to do to these motors?
Changing spark plugs and keeping the carb clean! I’m no mechanic, so if anything else needs to be done, I bring it it to an outboard mechanic
Do you where I can get a replacement 6 gallon tank and hose assembly? Good Video!
Awesome
What if I don't have the top screw just the bottom, how do I know when to stop filling
What weight gear oil did you use
does anyone know the dimensions of this propeller on this penta pls help i want buy propeller but i dont know dimensions.
Oldest of the new #1977
Hy it's an 2 stroke or 4?
@@raphaelpersaud8317 2 stroke!
That screwed you said do not take out what happens if you take it out
That’s the screw that holds the shifter in place on the gears. If you unscrew it you may have to pull the lower unit to get it all lined back up if you can’t get it while it’s attached
The earth will rotate backwards for 7 hours. Don't Touch It !
Should it be warmed up first or don't do that im about to do my 9.9
Does not need to be warmed up prior.
Ok thanks I had no clue about the lower unit oil
@@bricehale6593 glad to help!
@@bricehale6593 Should change it before each winter. Water had a way of getting thru the seals and could freeze in cold weather. Possibly cracking the unit.
