Italians and Polish lived in Greenpoint for a long while; the Italians moved upward towards Meeker and beyond while the Polish community grew. However, many Polish people have moved away from Greenpoint into Woodside, Ridgewood, and Maspeth. Many Condos and highrise buildings have reshaped the landscape of the Greenpoint/Williamsburg sections. Beacon's Closet has been on the come up. Many young people are moving here now, particularly college students. The neighborhood has changed tremendously. Still, a great place to live. I've been here since I was born 43 years!!!!!

@ipponyc still many long time neighborhood people around.
Don't forget Bamonte's Restaurant and the Italian families who have called Greenpoint home for generations!
Bamonte's is a neighborhood staple in Williamsburg ! If anyone hasn't been there yet, it is a definite must-try.
