Hi there Ellierose nice reaction... “Sleepwalking” talks about depression and ketamine addiction. Oliver was addicted to ketamine, as he said many times, The singer eventually attended rehab sessions but stated that he disagrees with many of the things that drug rehabilitation teach. "Your eyes are swallowing me Mirrors start to whisper, shadows start to sing " -: Some people with sad eyes or soulless eyes often look empty like an abyss of sorts, and he’s saying that said person’s eyes are so soulless and empty that they are devouring his soul, or making him get lost in them. This could also describe how when someone looks at someone they love their pupils dilate, making them bigger and consuming. The “you” could actually be referring to himself because the next line mentions “mirror.” In this case, it means he’s whispering to himself in front of the mirror in trance state and starting to have auditory hallucinations. If you want to enjoy BMTH, listen to the following: 1. Follow You 2. Drown 3. The entire Amo album 4. One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death You will love it all.
"Screamo" is frowned upon because it's a specific genre but who the geek told you that Oli doesn't scream? Harsh vocals whether it be false chord, vocal fry, glottal compression, slam, etc. almost all are considered screams. You might call slam more of a shout but still. Justin Bonitz (Hungry Lights, Tallah), Chris Liepe and Mark (Kardavox Academy) all have some pretty good information on the matter (especially about safety) if you're ever interested.
Its "shoutier" because at the time lead singer did not really know how to sing or scream properly . Not long after he messed up his voice from all the shouting(he started spitting up blood) that he asked Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington how he does all the singing and screaming without messing his voice up. So he went little softer with next album and at one point went full on pop .
If you're not into much heavy music I'd say check out Architects' latest album. Specifically Animals and Dead Butterflies since these two songs don't have any unclean vocals
I feel like the two songs you’d absolutely LOVE (you don’t need to react to) are One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be in Your Chest (long title for a magical song) and Follow you (the Live version!!)
