"It's easy to fool people when they're already fooling themselves." Man, was Mysterio an almost complete 180 from Vulture. Unrepentant, bloodthirsty, egotistical...and Jake Gyllenhaal owned every scene he was in. Was the Tony Stark connection really needed? Some would say yes, some would say no, I can argue for both sides. But there's still one lingering question... ...did he ever get his cape ironing finished?
A normal man could have gotten a different job. MCU decided to sell alien weapons under the nose of the Avengers and thought they wouldn't notice. Not very smart.
One of the things I can agree on is, Vulture/Toomes didn't act the way a rational man would, using the Chitauri tech and selling it on the black market. But the thing is, he seemingly couldn't find another living beyond scavenging for parts because it looked like that's what his occupation was for quite a while until Tony's Damage Control entered the picture. Thus, he used leading a salvaging crime ring as his means to keep his income coming so that he, his crew, and his family could live comfortably. So yes, I can agree that Vulture wasn't acting reasonably, but his actual intentions of doing so were completely sympathetic (not empathetic, though). The reason I said Mysterio was a complete 180 was because of his actions in the movie. Did he care at all for his henchmen/coworkers? Nope, he threatened to kill them all if they were ousted. Did he act reasonably after his inciting incident? No, he decided to play superhero like Syndrome from The Incredibles because...he wanted to one-up Tony and become a new glory hog (as opposed to Vulture trying to be more incognito). Neither Toomes nor Beck acted reasonably, true, but you could at least get behind WHY Toomes did what he did. With Beck, you KIND OF could at first, but then it flew off-the-rails.

Disturbed's Open Your Eyes fits well with Mysterio since the song's about not falling for lies and not believing everything you see and are told and Mysterio's whole plan was to use his elemental illusions to make himself look like a hero saving the world from monsters so he'd get attention, publicity and praise. He wanted to become a bigger hero than Tony Stark was to spite the dead Tony for firing him even though Tony fired Beck because Beck was unstable.

This is an amazing tribute, man. I’m so happy that you made a tribute to Mysterio. For years, I’ve been waiting to see him in a movie and I think the wait really paid off. I love how Marvel Studios made him a much darker villain than how he was originally in the comics. Hopefully he is still alive and he can join the MCU Sinister Six. I love the costume as they made it both modern and classic at the same time and I love how they even gave him the fishbowl helmet and it didn’t even look silly. His illusions were awesome and very different from what we saw in Doctor Strange. Thank you so much for making this video. I can’t wait to see more.
This version is too selfish to be MCU sinister 6. In the comics it worked Bc The reason that they fell apart is due to their selfishness and not Spiderman rising to the challenge. But the MCU has a tone/formula they’re setting here that having this version of Mysterio as an S6 member wouldn’t mesh with.

Now this movie made me have a nerd organism. Mystero was such a badass in this movie, the suit is perfect, the special effects for him was perfect, at the end he exposed spider man's secret at the end of the movie, he's just perfect lol.

We create our own enemies. Tony Stark certainly did that, even as he strived to do good, he made mistakes, that is human, but when you play the game at his level and for the stakes that he played it, you sometimes step on people that you don't even realize. Mysterio is a sin born of Tony losing Pepper and dealing with creating Ultron. Sadly it fell to Peter to deal with it.

The Stark connection was forced and unnecessary.
Vulture wasn’t very sympathetic either at least compared to the Rami villains.

Tony fired him for wanting praise for his work. Don’t sugarcoat this.
He literally even says to his men that they’d get the praise for inventing the tech that he used to save the world.
