Listening to this one reminds me of the book "Understanding the Purpose and Power of Men" by Myles Munroe. He explains how the evolution of society introduces a conundrum of which values to uphold: should we stick to conservative traditional values or embrace progressive values? In my opinion, these challenges are not going to change because what is acceptable today may not be acceptable tomorrow.
My Brother, I am Venda and your message resonates. I generally connect with people who think innovative, and are willing to do what it takes to change the game on behalf of Africans in a tangible way. I definitely agree and I have been saying myself, we need to amend the African customs to go with the times we live in because we cannot keep putting this crazy burden on African men which do not align with the economic reality. I'm glad you're saying it, hopefully it will be heard. It seems the men with the least economic access are expected to pay the most to start families. And it's not mystery then why we don't have a boom in the marriage stats.
What I like about P is that he genuinely cares for Black People. True, we come from the same house, raised by the same parents but somehow we men turn out bad and women turn out good, which is horse s**t. Remember the very same home that broke men, it also broke women too.
very well intentioned rendition Pen. the truth is that without reclaiming the african traditional structure, we are doomed to perish as impostors fulifilling the colonial project.
What a beautiful message bakwethu….Rise mntakwethu….mna ndingathi nje we are not late bantakwethu, we just need to start now adjusting/changing our ways where necessary….Siyabonga Penuel…Sithi ngesiXhosa…usisisele seNyathi.
Ndizolila shem! I was sharing the same sentiments with a friend just yesterday. So yesterday I visited a church(I was avoiding mine cause I had plans with my non-beliver friend, so I basically wanted to be in and out church with no judgment and also I love the story of Jesus..) long story short I went there but to my surprise the church was going to begin at 12 pm but there were people and the choir was singing so I sat. Before the church begun I had to go to a sit in at Seaview with my friend xa sifika khona, abamhlophe bahleli khona abanye bayabaleka.. But abantu bethu basecaweni wearing alot of clothes, siyapheka pickle fish, salads and steam breads, alot of pots and pans to wash. Sixakekile marn and also you'll find that at church the preachers are competing on who preached the best. Aba abamhlophe basimosha shame! Anyways I'm only 5 mins in lemme listen
truth must be told. labelungu abafika lapha Pen, they were prisoners and vagabonds seeking for greener pastures. they found africans living like kings (living from the land) without a paycheque. today they dont have the land-thats a contentious issue cos nobody wants to disturb the status quo (who will dare annoy the wht bosses?). we are captured spiritually.
I admire how you question things even the traditions that us black people love only when its convenient for us and you're questioning if we should even practice ilobolo and inhlawulo , it's no surprise that you would create your own culture/religion.
dont give up bro. Moses, Joshua, Daniel, Mashack, Shadrack, Abednego and Yeshua never had it easy. when u have been given an assignment as a 'closen one', u will not have it easy-ENDURE BUT NEVER GIVE UP. JONAH tried to give up and ended in the belly of a fish....
Noba asifani kodwa ekugqibeleni we are all human, amanzi, ucoceka, imali, umsebenzi uyafuneka. We must find common ground that resonates with every heart regardless of religion, micro culture or language. Maybe we’ll start working together then within those micro cultures educate ourselves towards establishing moral and ethical ground. Finding common ground is important and establishing how to get to the goal of satisfying our basic needs then within our different ways of understanding life and living life agree on following and teaching a moral stand point that does not exploit the wellbeing of others.
my bro. the black man is captured by the enviornement he finds himself in. wherever we are we are forced to adapt to that situation. it is erroneous historically, scientifically and realistically to consider that the blk man was manufactured (not created) by wht ppl-a created man is diffrent from a manufactured man. black ppl 'singamahatha' blown by any wind.
thank you Pen for this views i totally agree with you and i can link all your points from way back to now you are really concern and we as blacks are hurting and very good in pretending and hiding our pains. ill like to review this clip on my vidoes ...
When you go into those poor rural zululand areas, how, what do you feel, you see the youngsters free playing having fun, compare that life to city life, most will chose country life at any cost, its only later on in life ,they realize how behind they are, surely this gap should be a priority to close, with todays technology it should be so much easier, government wastes billions on dreams, giving many immediate relief that does not last, not sustainable, but they carry on ,nobody questions the waste, they get big kickbacks and fascilitation fees via their middlemen, very sad state of our nation,we must stand up.
White people, wherever they go around the world recognise each other as white, yes they may differ there and there in religion, customs, language etc but they recognise each other as white and there’s a certain way they treat one another. When it comes to us blacks, without even leaving South Africa, Zulu and Xhosa people khona ingxaki. I’ll leave it at that as one can see where I’m going to with this. My question basically is what makes white people across the globe have a certain level of respect for one another? If we can identify that, then we can start implementing it as blacks bearing in mind it’ll take generations but it should be something we’re willing to do.
White people conquered us a long time ago. We are a defeated race mentally, emotionally, economically financially...Any leader be it a president or philanthropist or artist actor musician any one of influence tries to consiuntize black people, it's either they push the brown envelope down his throat bribing them to shut up or they kill them. Africans must remain poor for the first world European countries to strive. POVERTY is the main cause of all these things Pen is mentioning here. Poverty kills and destroy a human's ability to be the best version of themselves. Kills your self esteem, kills your reasoning sometimes you can see that what you are doing is wrong but you do it anyway cos you think with your stomach not your mind hence the term policy of the stomach. We are doomed! It would take leaders with balls very hard balls to change the life of an African
I agree with you my brother, black nation is really in a bad state and the sad thing is we don't even talk about it in our community but rest assured that other nations see our disfunction and they are living comfortably because they claim they want us to do better but the truth is they don't want us to do better than them.
Interesting facts lawa mfowam. Eyelobolo iyinkinga kakhulu coz kwathina asiliqondi ukuthi liyini, lalakhiwelani futhi kuyini inhloso yalo. Namuhla you find yourself wanting to marry a women with great intensions, only to find that to her family you're milk cow to be milked dry not umkhwenyana. They will charge you insane amount of money forgetting that you still need to build a home for you and their daughter and most importantly for your children, but they don't care about that not even for their daughter's well being who they claim to care so much for. We are really doomed sisenjeni.

In short… the enlightenment values. Check out Voltaire
It’s called altruism and not only whites possess it. It’s part of the revelations of the enlightenment.
