We are revisiting the Mk1 Vrs and we were reminded just how capable this car is. With its 1.8 Turbo 4-Cylinder engine, 5-Speed manual gearbox and super fun handling it's a riot to drive down a great B-Road. But one should definitely beware before they make the leap to buy one of these. Do enough research, spare a good budget and buyers could have a very fun prospect on their hands.
Didn't it had a 2.4 litre TSI engine? Or it was mk2 ( @ 2007-8)!!!
see, u will not get an mk1 vrs for 1 lack. it doesn't start from 1lack and ends in 2 lack. Actually, it starts from 2 lack
and ends around 7 lack. depending on the upgrades. and most of the vrs, which are just stock costs around 3-4 lacks even now. I'm saying this because I'm looking for one in a price range of what you just told on youtube. Yes, what I'm just trying to say here is that.. i don't think some can get a mk1 vrs, for that low price sir. if anyone have, or anybody knows someone who sells please leave a link or something down here. thank you.
7.6 secs and 235 top speed are insane numbers even today..
No car at 20 lakh range has these numbers even today..
It's really good no. So much power But that 13 lakh ex is equals to some around 30 lakhs approx. So can't compare with current cars available b/w 10 to 20 lakh.
Bruh corolla can do it in 7.9 sec with top speed of 220 😂
@@tapatap8005 ha ha still 0.3 secs slower..corolla is very good car in USA. In India it did not click as it did in west. And moreover 100-200 timings are equally important to keep up the pulling with torque maintanence.
@@vsk906 it has 130 hp and its way cheaper better to tune that than an Octavia
@@vsk906 and it has a better history
Corollas from the past are just godly
These type of contents make this channel stand apart. Love from kerala💙

Slight variations to our UK/Europe versions. Here our vRS’s came with 180BHP and 17” Spiders. Only the estate (combi) came with the 16” Spiders. I guess the de-tune to 150bhp was due to the fuel quality you have in India. Ours usually map to around 205/215bhp on 99Ron (depending on ecu re-mapper). Mine one is currently sitting at 240bhp (stage 2). I absolutely love these old MK1’s! Can’t see my self with anything else…
Fuel quality.. octane fuel.. something wrong with it ?
Do you think buying one for 2.8 lakhs is worth?? Did it come with abs??
In EU you're supposed to pour 98 octane in. If you pour 95 it falls by 20 horsepower i think. The car remaps boost levels. And also the fuel consuption skyrockets. I think you're right. If indians use similiar octane numbers as the yanks, the engine would definitely start to knock at the same boost levels.
There is a used skoda octavia 1.9 tdi with registration date 9 jan 2007 and manufacturing date 1 jan 2006 on rc also it says 75 hp on rc
It says 1896 cc on rc
Is it mk1 octavia or mk 2???
Nice that u highlighted this variant! I still have a news paper cutting dtd. Sep 01, 2001 the day she was launched in india. .. The communication color was always yellow ! The ad mentioned alloys as spider design which were unique & never graced any other octavia, She also came with perforated seat back then , 147bhp on tap..all this direct from factory! Very desirable sedan those days ! Her European version were already pumping 50-60 bhp more than the Indian variant.
Love from VRS club kerala❤️
Buy it for sure
If we get a Octavia vrs combi video that would be great
Keep up the good work🙌🙌
Skoda ❤️ mk1, enough to measure your enthusiasm.❤️ From Kerala
you guys are awesome! keep up the good work!
Such a high quality content u deserve more subs!!
Good work with the channel. Keep posting. Would love to see you guys tune and overhaul such underated cars.. Also think of making videos on some basic overhauling in inexpensive cars for every day use by people who are on a tight budget. 🤪 ( hoping to see a tuned Lancer Cedia someday here)
Proudly owning one sprint yellow laura vrs

@@shivanshubahuguna4826 no bro stock
@@sumitacharya2733 bro to bro advice, how reliable is it now ?
@@shivanshubahuguna4826 220 000km, had no major issues apart from shot injectors. Which are not that expensive since it's multipoint injector technology (non direct). Basically a glorified spray jet. The main problem are the halfshafts. Iam slightly remmaped, and the car ate through two pairs in two years. Turbocharger is still the original one, and it's remmaped to it's full potential. Which is about 1.7bar. Control the rust, cleanup the wheel wells every year, spray wax in the cavities, and you're set.
I am a beginner car enthusiat and i agree with ur words keep it up
Many people like me would love to buy this car even today, but major challenge is in its high maintenance cost it's not easy to maintain.
Diamond silver color was so good. I used to see this near my road. Looks amazing
Loved the video Soham
Yellow mk1 VRS & Combi models are just love
Yes of course, it makes sense even today and 10 years to the future too, love from Kerala 💕💕
Mad on Octavia ❤️❤️🔥🔥
Yes I still remember it was featured in Autocar cover magazine the lemon yellow one back in the day .Good old days.
Mad choice for a project car! A very MOD friendly ride.
yup we're getting it

How is it now ? Maintenance high?
@@hashim1671 yes it surely does require care and attention... i would say it is on the higher side of maintenance..

Good content, good review. Keep it up no nonsense review
Dude this was the car in my childhood which was a symbol of sports car, since the only sports car we used to see was on television and very rarely on roads. But I have to say this car used to look sexy af back then also and even today it looks hot
the mk1 vRS is and will always be in my opinion the coolest car for an enthusiast to get for not much money. i'm looking at one right now in fact.
Anything to look out for while buying??
Amazing video. Octavia 💥💥💥
Love to own one 😍
Make a drag video between octavia mk1 and new gen rapid 1.0tsi MT. Will be a fun to watch video

2 cars that i greatly miss in today's crossover dominant market are octavia Vrs and Cruze
Hey bro can u make a video on JDM cars which we are available in india
MK1 VRS is a bomb even today. It’s very difficult to spot it here in Kerala. So seeing it here on the roads brings me goosebumps. 😍
Bro are you serious? Mk1s are very common in southern part of Kerala especially Kollam , Ernakulam .. but very hard to find a full stock one

Here, in Kozhikode maybe 5-6 altogether. None of these are still stock

Yes this was a wonderful car. Sadly there aren’t any really good ones left which one can buy as a project car...
Of course ,dream car ever
Good dope days 🙌🏽
Amazing 👏👏. Love from kerala ❤❤❤
Any 1.8 turbo for sale ?

Damn this car's such a legend😲😍
Just a normal car
Always my first choice
Did you know there is a 4x4 version of that car? I didn't come with VRS bumpers. I have one ;)
Waiting to get one bro
mk2 vs mk1 pls
vrs super sports
What are the chances 2002 Octavia Diesel would fail the emission test? I am looking to buy a used one as a project car.
Honda city mark 1 mark 2 what mods to do ??
And where in pune do you recommend
can anyone tell the bgm name?
Lets bring the VTEC and talk all this THANKS !!
Thts my type of cars.. Vrs and octavia combi,
Lol. VRS is India's orginal tuner car? Then what is Gypsy, Zen, Esteem, City Vtec, Swift G13B? These car's started tuning scene in india way before than Octavia. Tuning is not only engine remapping, above mentioned cars engine has been thoroughly reworked, engine swapping etc for race purpose and street..
There is a difference between a ricer and tuner
Sunroof ?
When you want to get the vrs mk1 but it's either expensive or the owner doesn't want to sell
I ll buy it

I have some videos on octavia in my channel
The only review ever, where the reviewer is sitting down in a chair the entire time..!!
👌👌
These cars are nice and all.But a white elephant to maintain. Also 1.8 TSi engines cars are way more tuner friendly. This model has known timing belt and water pump issues.Yes it was an Icon in that it introduced the next level of performance cars after OHC VTEC, but yea be aware. This comes from an ex owner who sold it off way back in 2013 and moved on to better machinery.
I have a 2016 Skoda superb I want to sell that car and get this one! People are like why are you downgrading!
Reliability wise these machines including mine has to be easily the most unreliable cars we have here in India. They could be even worse than Chevys but the only thing saving their ass from hitting rock bottom is Skoda's service attitude. Skoda wants their car to be rolling.
nigga this video is a vibe....
But the price of a vrs now is almost about the price of a M2?
Why is it underpowered in India? Octavia vrs in other car markets cranked 178 hp @ 5500
Fuel quality concerns.
@@richuroythomas470 Could you elaborate?
@@richuroythomas470 are you trying to say that the fuel isn't as good so there's no point of having a couple more horsepurs
@@santbhindranwalejidefanche8767 Yes the car can't produce the extra power reliably with the comparatively lower quality fuel available here. The Laura VRS got the 1.8 tsi and not the 2.0 tsi due to the same reason!
@@richuroythomas470 oh I see thanks for explaining, that makes sense 😄
i want to sale vrs remape to stage 2 . 240 bhp.
Tbh I don't like the rectangular pieced exhaust

Agreed that the skoda Octavia is a fun car to drive but using it as a project car may put a hole in your pocket.
its vw so what else can we expect
1:27 I love how you are talking about vrs Octavia in India but show UK registered cars 😂
Good video..... Its a gr8 handler but was never a comfortable car. Hard suspension and harder seats
Skoda octavia combi vrs is the rarest car in india 😖😖
I don’t numbers bring me to watch underneath get a 1.8 L cylinder petrol engine which turned out 50 hp 200 and 1000 m of tick-tock massive numbers back in 2004 that was the slick stick shift five speed of cost recipe for a front Grill restaurant back in 2004 the one could either engineer of the force engines to come to India were major hardware changes what is really needed to get basin power games

that 2 l engine can tune upto 450 hp
Too old for 2021!
Used c class from 2006-2009 better for tuning CGI
