We are revisiting the Mk1 Vrs and we were reminded just how capable this car is. With its 1.8 Turbo 4-Cylinder engine, 5-Speed manual gearbox and super fun handling it's a riot to drive down a great B-Road. But one should definitely beware before they make the leap to buy one of these. Do enough research, spare a good budget and buyers could have a very fun prospect on their hands.
see, u will not get an mk1 vrs for 1 lack. it doesn't start from 1lack and ends in 2 lack. Actually, it starts from 2 lack and ends around 7 lack. depending on the upgrades. and most of the vrs, which are just stock costs around 3-4 lacks even now. I'm saying this because I'm looking for one in a price range of what you just told on youtube. Yes, what I'm just trying to say here is that.. i don't think some can get a mk1 vrs, for that low price sir. if anyone have, or anybody knows someone who sells please leave a link or something down here. thank you.
It's really good no. So much power But that 13 lakh ex is equals to some around 30 lakhs approx. So can't compare with current cars available b/w 10 to 20 lakh.

Slight variations to our UK/Europe versions. Here our vRS’s came with 180BHP and 17” Spiders. Only the estate (combi) came with the 16” Spiders. I guess the de-tune to 150bhp was due to the fuel quality you have in India. Ours usually map to around 205/215bhp on 99Ron (depending on ecu re-mapper). Mine one is currently sitting at 240bhp (stage 2). I absolutely love these old MK1’s! Can’t see my self with anything else…
In EU you're supposed to pour 98 octane in. If you pour 95 it falls by 20 horsepower i think. The car remaps boost levels. And also the fuel consuption skyrockets. I think you're right. If indians use similiar octane numbers as the yanks, the engine would definitely start to knock at the same boost levels.
Nice that u highlighted this variant! I still have a news paper cutting dtd. Sep 01, 2001 the day she was launched in india. .. The communication color was always yellow ! The ad mentioned alloys as spider design which were unique & never graced any other octavia, She also came with perforated seat back then , 147bhp on tap..all this direct from factory! Very desirable sedan those days ! Her European version were already pumping 50-60 bhp more than the Indian variant.
