I have the exact Hamilton Beach 900w same as yours. I watched the video and decided I would just get a new one rather than trying to fix this one. I said if its going to recycling anyway, why not just try to unstick the switch with a good hard door slam. If it breaks, so what its going anyways. So I did, gave the door a good slam. It didn't break, and it unstuck the switch. That was a few days ago. Working as good as new again.
You’re a life saver dude. I’m not a handy person when it comes to doing such mechanical things but after watching a video I have a shot. I’ve an inbuilt microwave in the counter. At first I was scared to open but I told myself, what the hell, it’s my house and worst case scenario I’ll have to get a new one. So I have a shot. Guess what? I exactly did the same thing that you’ve suggested and it worked. However, I was only able to pull out one gray small box, for the others I couldn’t pull out so I checked the clicking button from my screwdriver. I’m a hero infront of my wife now 😂😂. Thanks again and I appreciate it. You’ve earned my subscription and one more like.
Thank you for this. However, our unit is a combination microwave convection oven. The unit has 3 switches but they are very obscured by lot of wire. What was difficult was the removal of the switches, as there were clips and pins. We used a hair dryer to soften the clip material which helped. Also I suggest looking the way the door clicks the switch buttons. That way you can determine which of the three is faulty. (I hadn’t noticed that the top switch was faulty and took the middle one out first. Not a good experience, as a pin broke. Make sure you look first, take pictures, uses a hair blower and be patient.) Mine also was an overhead placement which was awkward to remove.
@@TryThisDIYFix There was another post that approached the similar problem by taking out the control panel and then unscrewing the complete switch unit. He accessed the clip holders from behind to release the switches. This access approach is not always appropriate because in mine, the screws holding that bracket were only accessible on the inside once you took the housing off. Again, thank you for opening the picture on this initial problem. Much appreciated.
