your videos in general are full of nice and concise tips instead of meandering around a point so much appreciated :^3 but yeah, I've found I'm way more productive when I don't constrain myself to doing a specified amount of work on a project every day, say I have a deadline in 1 month and I need to do 15 pages.. sure, I could do 1 per 2 days, but there's bound to be days where I don't feel like doing half a page, and other days when I want to do way more than half a page... I find it works way better to go with how you feel in the moment, which in itself stresses you out less, so you feel better about working on it personally, I want to do art almost every single day, but never for consistent amounts of time.. one day, I'll draw the whole day, another I'm satisfied with 20 minutes' worth of sketching... especially for personal projects, just go with your gut :^3
Amazing video ,I think I'll actually start implementing this cause I keep burning out. Trying to balance creating RUclips videos ,making comics and my personal life gets stressful ,but with this method it takes off the pressure and just lets me focus on creating🔥You earned a new subscriber 💯
Great technique and explanation! 🧡 I used to do the 5 minutes version when I was in really bad place like a year ago. I let myself finish if I wanted to but considered the “obligation” fulfilled after 5 mins. Sometimes it was only five but sometimes it was an hour and I really enjoyed that hour. It really helped e feel good about all of this and helped tremendously. Also I forgot about the trick (how weird lol) so thanks for the refresher! Really well explained ^.^
@@BrinkleyComics what is going to help me in the moment though (and that I’ve never tried) is making a 6 page comic! I think I can start the writing amd ideation right now even during inktober.
This maybe a good idea for technical skill practice. It isn't a good idea for a major work though. Have you read the War of Art? Video Games are more important than your major piece??
@@bharl7226Not the point? Yep, okay. Today, I will sit down for 10 minutes and then if I really don't feel like trying I'll pack up.😆 But I did show up for 10 minutes. 10 X productivity!😂
The idea is that this rule will restart you when you’re stuck. Artists can get art blocked for a long time but this is one of the tricks that can help get out of it quicker. I think even practice needs more than 10 minutes to be effective.
This is great advice! I usually do this for the cartoons I make! I just got back from burn out so I am doing this again!

10 mins to warm up. Man, if you're in a slump- stop making excuses. You are going to suck for a few days. So what?
