    great video. Is there a follow up video to show what to do when your seedlings outgrow the trays you just seeded? Do you keep your seedlings in those trays from seeding until you plant in the garden? If not, do you have another video that shows what to do next? thanks so much. super helpful video and fun to watch.

      The plug trays are used until they reach a second leaf stage usually. Then they are moved up to the 6pk size or other size you prefer. Using a dowel rod poked through the hole in the bottom makes for easy removal without hurting the plant. Hers looks to be the 200 there is a 394 (holes) The 200 is a good choice. Plant a few more than you want and only transplant the best.

      @@Val-ee4hd i have some plants that have put roots down through the hole in the bottom of the plug...any tips on how to get them out without hurting the seedlings?

    • @Val-ee4hd
      @Val-ee4hd 2 года назад +2

      @@peterprints You can squeeze the sides of the plug gently and will help loosen the sides. If the roots are not super large that have gone through they should be fine to pull through the hole. Try not to damage the stem when pulling it out. If you have a cocktail fork or break a few tines off the side of a plastic one you may can lift it out with that. I have punched them through with pencil or dowel and had no problem. It is the Stem that is most vulnerable and you don't want to break it loose from the roots.

    • @Val-ee4hd
      @Val-ee4hd 2 года назад

      If you plant a lot of plugs you can make a dowel rod board to punch them all out at once. :)

    • @Val-ee4hd
      @Val-ee4hd 2 года назад +1

      FWIW, I had a Greenhouse in the late 80's and sold to the public. Did it pretty much all by myself. Losing a few roots on outside of the plug tray is not an issue. It is keeping as many as you can that are attached to the stem and not breaking the stem.

I've done winter sowing for several years and have had lots of success doing it that way. We're in the deep freeze here in the midwest, our actual air temperature is 5 degrees Fahrenheit right now. Just finished starting a bunch of Park Seeds I got last winter. I love them but they give you so few seeds it seems.

    I planted lots of seed in a pot since they are so incredibly small. Now I am panicking that I won’t be able to separate them into Individual 4 inch pots. Do you have any suggestions?
