Honestly, this PvD set is probably the purest live trance set of all time. Oakey has so many classic live sets, as does Tiesto, but this set is pure trance energy. The track selection + the mixing + the energy. Absolutely timeless. I remember when this set came out. I was 19 years old. Just about to graduate high school. Me and my friends were a very small group of people that liked trance/house. Back in '03 electronic music was not popular. People looked at us strange, but we didn't care. This set was always blasting for us. The best memory I have of this set is in '06. We live about 1.5 hours from Coachella here in SoCal. Me and my buddy drove out to Coachella when Daft Punk was playing live in '06. The entire way we had this set blasting and just completely jammin' out to PvD. Epic.
Will never ever forget my rave days in the late 90s early 2000s and this track always takes me back to those feelings like it was yesterday. The first 28 minutes of this set transports you to a higher level of being, it is pure joy and emotion, the highest state of euphoria any trance lover can reach is inside the opening 28 minutes of this set... EDIT: My god from aroujd 10:45 you can hear he starts to build an ascent upward and it just keeps elevating up to the clouds, the energy building is unbelievable
Wow. This music freaks me out. I love Paul Van Dyk. One of my good friend who is a huge fan of Paul gave me a CD a few years ago to listen to and been hooked on trance ever since. My friend in question got a left brain stroke at age 39 and everytime I hear this track I think of the hard times this man went through but thank God he's better.
There are very few sets that I will listen to over and over again. This is one of them. Whoever was lucky enough to be there to dance to this live… I am envious.
Trance Energy event had the best times in 2001 - 2004 . Correct me if I'm wrong but these sets are absolutley classic, and the best. PVD, Ferry, Gielen, Timo Mass, Tomcraft, Armin, Rank 1 many others to name. This was the peak of trance music.
Still to this day one of the best trance sets of all time. You rarely see this much consistent hype throughout. Every track was an absolute banger. Modulation - Spirits (Cosmicman Remix) is still one of the best tracks of all time imo.
There are a lot of good sets and DJs but this brings me back to my teen years. There is something with music that you listen in that age and it stays with you for the rest of your life. Outstanding!
I experieneced this live in Toronto and apart from the euphoria all I remember is emerging from the Guvernment/Kool Haus to daylight with my legs completely collapsing and my friends carrying me into a cab. While they were as exhausted too. This is the stuff that life is made of. Eternally grateful.
