    What is the largest concert you've seen or been to?

    • @ZoeyPaigeLunaPhD
      @ZoeyPaigeLunaPhD 4 месяца назад

      Paul McCartney at So Fi Stadium, Los Angeles May 2022
      Taylor Swift Eras tour Nissan Stadium Nashville May 2023
      Both about 70k people
      (I don’t go to festivals so I’ve never been to an utterly massive show)

      Outdoor festival in the 90s - between 70,000 - 80,000 people - a hour north of Toronto. Neil Young was the headline act, before him was Oasis, before them the Gin Blossoms, and about 4 other acts before them including Jewel

      Certainly someone you never heard of : Jean-Michel Jarre
      This is not a festival like this one with a few bands (there were Metallica, AC/DC, Panthera and The Black Crowes too as you said) but it's usually outdoor cause of the number of people.
      The one I saw as teenager in 1986 in Lyon, France, was about 800 000 people.
      But if you mix all the type of "musical" events, indoor and outdoor, he has something like 3 of the top 5 world's records, begining with Moscow 1997 with 3,5 millions of people.... In Paris in 1990, something like 2;5 millions... Houston 1986, 1,5 millions. He is in Guinness Book of records a few time.
      Most of the time, these big events are sponsorised by the city itself.

    I’m from Moscow, I was just born in 1991, and I often heard from various older friends and relatives about this concert, those who were there still remember it)

    The concert was performed on a USSR military airfield. This was supposedly a reward to the public for helping to stop a coup attempt. Funny enough, the USSR collapsed just a few months after this concert.
    They apparently had expected about 400k-500k people. Hence why it was held on an airfield. They gave out the free tickets to hundreds of thousands and then ran out and just let people in. Sadly, there were quite a few deaths recorded during the concert. There have been larger recorded concerts, but it is in the top 5 largest. I think it's the 3rd largest on record. Or something like that.
    There have been different explanations given for the helicopters flying over with some being for security and others being to help circulate air across the huge crowd. It could be both or another reason entirely. We'll never know for sure unless someone who flew the helicopters replies in the comments.

      There were 2 or 3 shows bigger than this one. Copacabana Beach in New York in 1993 and 1994 had between 3 and 4.2 million and jean-michel jarre had 3.5 million in Moscow in 1997
